Planet Earth - The Complete Collection (2007, HD DVD)

I've heard noting but prizes about this series. So, I decided to pick it up myself and see what all commotion is about. I've got to say that Planet Earth is amazing in every respect.
The series is about 550 minutes long and almost all is filmed in high definition. There are 11 parts to the series and they all take us through unique parts of our planet. Some animals are so rare that it is the first time that we can actually see them on film.
We can see how Great White Shark attacks seals in slow motion, how pack of lions attack an elephant. We can see the biggest caves in the world and what creatures live in them , the biggest falls in the world, the strangest creatures living in the deeps of the sea. I mean all this stuff is jaw dropping. Highly recommended.

Very good visuals despite being on an outdated format. My xbox 360 HD DVD plays it well. British version rules. Great Price.

This is by far one of the best nature series ever made.Made even better if you have it on HD-DVD,BLU-RAY or an upconverting dvd player.Some of the best photography ever.The series is very educational

The visuals (especially on the HD versions) are simply stunning. A lot of the shots they've captured make you wonder just how in the heck they managed to do it. That's actually a recurring question across the whole series: "How did they do that?!" The wide, aerial shots are particularly impressive in HD.

Unfortunately, they don't tell you. There are no special features that detail how they filmed the stuff, nor what equipment they used. Often I wished the narration would go into more detail about the subject on screen, but overall, it's a very entertaining and polished production.

This is the most well made and high end HD programs I have seen.5 stars

The picture quality is VERY good in HD. However, if you have seen one nature show you have pretty much seen them all. I do believe that I will only watch this one time. I had been seeing the advertisements on TV about this product and I thought it would be nice to own. I am glad that I have watched it, but it will only be once, sadly.

The picture is excellent. The sound is terrific. This has been very educational for me. It's great to put a picture to the things you learn in school and hear about in the news. I purchased an 42" LCD TV around 8 months ago and this is the best thing I have seen on this TV. HD DVD may be gone but if you one or a Blu-Ray, I advise you to get this.

I bought this DVD set for Mother's day because I knew she would love it. After seeing it several months ago I found it an incredible series and well worth having. I bought the HD set because she and my Father recently bought a 73' DLP TV... it looks AMAZING!! If you have a nice TV it's worth the extra money to get the HD or BLUERAY discs. Also, I personally prefer the voice of David Attenborough over that of the American narrator... Sigourney Weaver. Hope you enjoy it as much as we have!

I love everything about HD DVD. You will get the best picture out of HD DVD. Planet Earth should only be watched on HD DVD. Forget Blu Ray.
