Planet Earth - The Complete Collection (2007, DVD)

While this was a wonderful production, dont be fooled into thinking it is the one on tv currently. It is supposedly the same production, but with David Attenborough narrating and some segments have been renamed, it has also been reported that the Discovery channel version has been edited for time and content, if you want the new one, wait for the Discovery Channel release sometime in May....The new one is done with Sigourney Weaver, and is updated with Planet Earth the Future as seen on the Discovery Channel.....its worth having both, but make sure this is the one you want! Not sure what other changes there might be or what other differences, the broadcast here was also done in a different order...wickopedia has a great explanation! Hope this helps!

This is going to be a classic in the way that Disney's Fantasia was back in 1940.Fantasia created the mold for blending music and movie magic and Planet Earth creates the mold for blending high definition filming and conservation education. Brilliant!
I like that the narration in this version is NOT Sigourney Weaver.The BBC version features a British man's voice, David Attenborough . The US version (with Weaver narrating) is not yet available on DVD. I encourage you to buy the BBC version.
Anyone who has an interest in nature, animals, global warming or high tech filming will love this series. Chilren will love it too, though it does not shy away from the animal kingdom's predator-prey relationship in all its blooddy detail, so caution is advised.

Absolutely Stunning, the cinematography is Stellar. A must watch. Images so rare and gorgeous, often jaw dropping.

Simply put, the filmmakers have managed to capture some of the most amazing footage of animals in their native habitat...period.

Each episode runs approximately 58 minutes. This includes “Planet Earth Diaries,” a 10-minute feature that details the filming of a particular event. The DVD series has narration by David Attenborough, as it was in the original BBC release. This varies from the American airing of the series on the Discovery Channel which had Sigourney Weaver’s narration.

This is by far the most impressive nature program/DVD I have ever laid eyes on...hands down. Don't miss it!

Excellent footage. Love watching it. Haven't completed watching the entire series, but the 2 disk I have watched are breath taking. This DVD is for the entire family. Very entertaining.

One dvd did not play at all. The shipping was accurate, however the product was of a lesser quality than anticipated.

This is the most spectacular, amazing, and visually stunning film ever produced to date. This is as close as you can get in see the amazing creation of God captured on film. You will have a different appreciation for this Earth you live in after watching this, and hopefully for the Creator who created this planet, and everything in this universe. It is a small price to pay for such an amazing collection. Thanks to the producers, directors, and film makers for taking this journey and enduring the environment to bring this to us.

I bought it because I thought it would be beautiful and intersting to see. Beautiful photography. It should be very enlightening.

I really had no idea that it was going to be this good. I love national geographic and similar depictions on screen but none to date were as magnificent as this picture was. I highly recommend taking the time just to check out trailers of it on line and then experience it for yourself. I don't believe that a person could shy away from saying "wow" at least once during this wonderful documentary. Its simply beautiful footage and a wonderful thing to watch. If you have children and want to teach or open their eyes to subjects not covered very well in school, this is a great way to learn and share. Check it out already!

This is a wonderful collection of 5 DVDs covering all aspects of our one of a kind Planet Earth. We take for granted the wonderful place that we live on. This is a must see collection. The cinematography is breath taking. Each segment is then recapped with the time and effort that went into making it. Nothing I can write here will truly captivate the full spectrum of this DVD collection. You have to see it to appreciated the world around you.

This dvd is a great way to see the world, makes you want to go there and see it in person.

I like all the different places and animals. I like learn how the animals act when no one is looking.

A true classic. A must for anyone's video library. Rivers, canyons, mountains animals and every kind of creation you can imagine. From all continents and from every corner of the earth from the deepest seas to the highest mountains you see life as it really is. Planet earth is truly a living planet.

I have been videographing last 20 years and found the planet earth the most amazing one not only for the scenes of nature but also its technologies in high definition upgraded video/audio quality.
