Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest
Wow...
Stunning visuals, superb acting, breath-taking special effects, incredible fight sequences, and devilish villians make Dead Man's Chest one of the must see films of the year.
Johnny Depp is back and better than ever as Jack Sparrow, Bloom and Kneightly are superb in their roles as well, and the rest of the supporting cast does a stupendous job.
The Villians are absolutely terrifying (maybe a little too terrifying for younger audiences) and the costumes are incredible.
DMC had me on the edge of my seat through the entire 2 1/2 hours of action and adventure. And DMC has the one thing that the original film was lacking, an absolutely superb ending. I can't wait for the next film in this amazing series.

Although not as dark as it sounds, Dead Man's Chest delivers the goods and hints at many more adventures to come. I don't know if the Pirates writing crew is making this up as they go along or if they have a vision, but this film certainly hinted at a much broader vision of things to come with numerous references to past battles, loves lost, and hearts kept under lock and key. It is a much more encompassing movie than was The Curse of the Black Pearl, but it is much more loose in structure. Verbinski keeps the action going despite what is a pretty complicated set of stories, more or less interwoven together but ultimately left unresolved. Johnny Depp may get top billing but it is Orlando Bloom who takes the lead in this movie, holding his own against sea-monsters and the King's men alike. With nothing more to go on than the image of a key, Will Turner and Captain Jack Sparrow are reunited (sort of) in an attempt to unlock a chest that offers a strange treasure indeed. Keira Knightley is reduced to a stowaway, with some memorable scenes, but not as big a role as she had in The Black Pearl. Bill Nighy steals the show as the incredible Davy Jones, a half man/half sea monster that draws on Captain Nemo more than the Flying Dutchman, but develops a troubled dark soul all his own. Naomie Harris makes for a fetching Voodoo Queen who ultimately unlocks the secret of this adventure, aiding Captain Jack and crew on their dark voyage. Jack Davenport returns as Norrington, a much more compelling character this time around than he was in The Black Pearl. Having fallen from grace, he completes the triangle that makes for some pretty tense action, especially in the closing scenes.
Be warned that Dead Man's Chest is an open ended movie, setting up what promises to be a thrilling third installment to Pirates of the Caribbean. Not only that, it hints at possible prequels because it covers so much territory in this sprawling movie that it leaves you craving for much more.

I loved Curse of the Black Pearl and J.D. always does fantastic acting. But this movie tops what was already great in the first and even better, left me hanging onto the hope of a third. There is never a dull moment in this movie, especially if you follow the story and dialog, you'll be stuck to your seat from all the action and comedy. With the addition of a new villian, Davy Jones (Bill Nighy)and his immortal crew on The Flying Dutchman, the story gets even deeper and exciting as we discover their abilities and as events unfold...
The sound from the DVD is phenomenal especially in surround or even stereo for that matter. The music tracks alone draws you right in.
I could say a whole lot more but I'll just stop at, I HIGHLY recommend this series for anyone's DVD collection.

This movie is incredible in just about every category. The acting is great, the plot line is enticing, the comedy is hilarious, and the visual effects and fighting scene are incredible. The cast are perfect in their roles. The extras are reason enough to buy this DVD. If you liked this first one then you have to own this sequel.

I say this because it really can't stand on its own like the first one. I enjoyed it even though I like the first and third ones better. I'm also really big on having all three movies in a trilogy even if I don't like one as much as the others. Pirates 2 certainly had its merits and was actually much better the second time I watched it. I would recommend it to anyone.

I have 2 sons and both of them love this movie and the other pirates of the caribbean movies. In fact that seems to be the only time they seem to get along and they don't fight with each other. I can hear them both laughing and talking about the movie.

This is such a GREAT movie, as are all of the movies in the "Pirates" series. The wonderful visual effects and realism whisk one away to a time of snarling sea thieves and supernatural lore. I'm not one for re-watching movies. However, I can watch this one again and again. It's great fun for adults AND kids. If you haven't seen it, please do!

Picking up where we left off from the first film, Dead Man's Chest is the second installment to the Pirates Of The Caribbean trilogy(currenty). It didn't do quite as well in the box office as the first film, Curse Of The Black Pearl, however this one and like At World's End has it's own unique style of class. With two and three filmed back to back, the second film was left with an unfinished story as well as having a few confusing points in the plot. The whole cast is back from the first film such as Depp, Bloom, Rush, Davinport, Knightly and Price, yet there are a few new faces. The two new faces are Davy Jones, (Bill Nighy) and Lord Beckett, (Stellan Skarsgard) along with a few others who help keep the plot going. Probably the one character that puts the whole picture together is really the Kraken sea monster, who is loosely based on the giant squid from 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea. You might call it a mix between a leviathon and a giant squid. The animal in this film is known for dragging ships down to the depths of the sea by it's tenticles. The overall performance is good, but watch this back to back with the third installment makes it that much more worth while.

I bought this dvd for my husband as a present for his first Father's day. He loved this movie so much that I enjoyed seeing him watching this movie. Truly amaizing all the extras that this particular dvd collector edition have. We loved it.

I like the first movie better than this one but this one is still good. This one is harder to follow. Johnny Depp does a good job of being drunk as always. This is something that is good to buy but I wouldn't say that you had to get it right away.

The movie in and of itself is great. It has action, adventure, swordfights, and a great story line. The characters are getting stronger and growing and that is wonderful to see as well. It is a great show. The extras DVD is good too. It fills in a lot of the behind the scenes stuff and is very enjoyable. This DVD is well worth the money.

I liked the movie, but definitely not as much as the first one. It has an interesting storyline but ends making you wonder and sets up for the third one. I enjoyed the first better because I can watch it anytime with it being complete, but with this, I'd feel as though I'd need to go see the next one.
Oh, and Elisabeth with Jack Sparrow? give me a break! Will was so much better. (And I don't even like Orlando Bloom...)

The Pirates of the Caribbean has become one of my favorite movies. I was not able to see the second movie of this trilogy in the theater, so as soon as it became available on DVD, I bought it right away! It was honestly just as good as the first!

I have wanted this movie for a while. I seen it in Ebay and thought what a great gift for myself. Don't have to wait in line or anything just the convenience of picking the movie and paying for it on line. Great. I did expect the movie to be a week, but not 2 and half weeks. that was a downfall. Took a while to get to me. Maybe because I ordered it at Christmas time.
