Pink Flamingos (2004, DVD)

What a filthy movie! I couldn't get through it! As far as cult classics go, I feel that shock value doesn't cut it. Not to mention the horrible acting. It was like a bunch of porno actors decided to get together and make a film.

Cult classic movie. It's defintely not for everyone. I'm not really sure it's for anyone. However, there's just something about it that makes one want to keep watching. It could be the terrible acting. It could be the overall jist of the plot. I am not sure. It's worth a viewing, at least once.

This movie is very disturbing. Sure I have seen and enjoyed many Cheezy movies and independent movies too. But, this movie goes beyond cheezy. Its also Pretty much a porno flick for those of you who have not seen the film. It also has its funny in areas to release some of it's discomfort. The simplicity of the story is testament to Waters' gross-out goals. Divine stars as Babs Johnson, the matriarch of a trailer-dwelling family-gang that relishes its tabloid label of "filthiest people alive." Thus infuriates Raymond and Connie Marble (David Lochary and Mink Stole), who feel that their business of kidnapping and impregnating women in order to sell the babies to lesbian couples and their involvement in fronting money to a chain of heroin pushers in the inner-city elementary schools qualifies them for the title. Thus, the movie engages in a constantly escalating battle of one-upmanship, as the two families vie for the coveted title.

The home-movie quality of Pink Flamingos enhances the grossest aspects of the film because it gives the viewer the impression that little was done to fictionalize the activity on-screen. Throughout this movie I was so...Awe stricken! I couldn't believe what I was seeing: A man having sex with a woman...and chickens. Goofy villains with red and blue hair...and other areas...The most bizarre birthday party every put on film... male frontal nudity...and singing dense man...and of course the climax...All who have seen it, know what I mean...

Although the characters claim to be repulsive, they do have redeeming features - Divine is a devoted mother and daughter. Edith Massey plays the grandmother, also known as the Egg Lady, who sits in a play pen obsessing over eggs; the children are Cotton (Mary Vivian Pearce) and Crackers (Danny Mills) who play sex games with Crackers simultaneously abusing chickens and women while Cotton looks on lustfully.

Well, needless to say I was hooked and slightly numb watching this low budget bad dialogue film. I liked the Hollywood stuff...but the underground is the true John Waters! Waters has been quoted as saying if someone vomits at one of his movies, it is like getting a standing ovation...I can't deny that this man is unique. Thanks to my gore friends for mortifying my mine even more. Recommended to those who are curious.

sadly, i cannot write an accurate review of this film , since i never got it. the seller kept my money and never sent the movie.the seller was kicked off ebay and kept my money as well hundreds of other peoples money. you would think ebay and paypal, both multi million dollar companies could refund peoples money to help maintain their good reputation.

This movie was very entertaining.I found it to be a little vulger and morbid but that what made it interesting.I am not saying its a breath of fresh air but it was different than any typical comdey/morbid movie that has come out in the past years

Although still gross and disgusting, it is just a mere shadow of the former or original uncut movie. So much is missing and scenes just thrown together it hardly makes any sense.

The supplier does not make this DVD no longer. The supply company should no longer advertise this DVD for sale is they do not have the DVD in stock.

Sick, twisted and totally vile at times..yet I love this freak show. It's surely not for a lot of people, so do your research for a few more details I can't mention here before checking it out. A few of the scenes are actual pornography so be careful with this hot potato.

WHEN YOU NEED A LIFT FROM LIFE'S ABSURDITIES, AND THE ABSOLUTE MUNDANENESS THAT CAN ACCOMPANY IT, WATCH THIS MOVIE FOR THE SHEER SHOCK VALUE IT PROVIDES, AS WELL AS THE CONSTANT LAUGHS!!!

i love this movie.. i just own three copies.. I have all his movies and love them all but this is one of my two favorites!

Whenever a movie is made into production it can usually be classified by one of the many genres or catagories out there but with this pure classic its hard to pick just one, it touches on all of them in away.

This is a very grown up movie so the little kids won't enjoy it as much nor will the parents for letting them watch it but if you are of age this is the movie for you.

John Waters is one of the best directors out there and for the catagory for the best actor that falls upon the loveable crossdresser that is Divine, who starred in numerous John Water movies.

For the weak stomach people out there stay far from this movie for your own sake but for the strong enjoy and watch again and again.

One of the freakiest of the freaky films, The trashiest of the trashy films, do not watch this film if you are NOT a fan of John Waters OTHER films, because you WILL NOT 'GET IT' if you just happen to stumble upon this campy, trashy outrageously 'bad' classic. I am telling you now, you have be warned!

To describe this film is rather difficult, it's like trying to describe an acid trip to people who have never taken LSD. This film is virtually unique AND PRACTICALLY A GENRE UNTO ITSELF.

WARNING: This is NOT 'Hairspray', ladies!

You don't have to be gay to appreciate Divine, possibly world's all-time most outrageous anti-glamour drag queen. He was one of a kind, as is the director and writer the forever fab u lous John Waters.


Danger: If you have a weak stomach, you will NOT want to view this film!!
If you can't handle gross out humor, doggie doo, people doo, complete nudity, perversion, sexual situations, both hetero and homo,--DO NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE!

If you appreciate low budget crazy independent films, you might just like this one. You need an Open mind, A dark sense of humor and the love of outrageous, freaky, silly, goofy, dumb, insane, 'lowest common denominator' writing, visuals, etc.

This is truly a classic in the craziest sense of the word, and I am proud to own it! I guarantee it is unlike nearly any other film you will ever see.

One of John Waters more racier films. Divine gives an outstanding performance, this film has a little bit of everything in it for all classes. However if your kind of pruish, I would not recomend this movie. The ending also is not for the vaint of heart or those with weak tummys.

John Waters finally did it... He finally made one of the most mind-boggling films out there. He succeeded in taking literally every taboo known to man-kind and putting it into one movie, and that one movie is Pink Flamingos.
Babs Johnson(Divine) is said to be the filthiest person alive, and will prove it on any count... She eats dog excrement in one scene(actual dog excrement), she gives her son oral sex in another scene, and cannibalizes a bunch of police officers in another scene. This film is seemingly harmless, until you actually watch it. There are several taboos that should have never been put in a movie, that this movie has: incest, cannibalism, castration, oral sex, indecent exposure, beastiality, and foot sex at it's most disturbing.
I would caution anyone that sees this film, you may be traumatized as a result of watching it. Although, it is richly funny, it is still extremely disturbing. The fact of the matter is, this movie is about 90% real.
Some have banned this movie completely, because of it's nasty content, while others have praised it as one of the "nastiest movies ever!" If you are looking to see a movie that could very well push you to the core of un-comfort, then Pink Flamingos is for you!
Be advised, the rating of NC-17 is very deserved for this film.

I was so good to revisit that time in my life when I first viewed this movie, I just loved it and it was so good to see the EGG MAN, he is hot.....

That is the most disgusting, vile, gross, just plain wrong movie I have ever seen. Everyone should see it once to scar them for life.

I enjoyed some of the deleted scenes better than the movie, the distastful part I did not like is the killing of the chicken, I realize we eat chicken but do we have to torture our food before we eat it, but I had to see it for myself, the filthiest person in the world is not my idea of a demand.
I did enjoy her statement to the press, the egg lady (Edith Massey), her son's naked body, the spreading of saliva through out the house and the 60's cars.
It was a bit jumpy without a set storyline with no history, a movie to be used turned down as a prop video for music at a bar.
It's a kind of fun movie with the music, but I have seen better from Divine so I am just spoiled.
