Exciting movie... simple story, great execution
Review created: 07/23/06

I first watched this movie in a hotel room while trying to go to sleep, but I could not allow my eyes to close before the plot was resolved! The gem of this film is Kiefer Sutherland's Bad Guy character. With help from Forrest Whittaker, he makes the supporting roles stand out as they help Colin Farrell escape the phone booth with his life and sanity. Farrell's wife, Katie Holmes, is not only attractive, but she also must figure out the reasons for the chaos and violence that unfolds on the New York City sidewalk.

Give it a try!

  Big waste of my time

This was a big waste of time that I’ll never get back. Much like you’d suspect from the title, the movie takes place around the phone booth, but there’s only so much that you can do with that. Before long, you’re like, “okay, I get it. You’re in a phone booth with a scary guy on the other end, what now?”. There were just too many times when I felt Colin Farrell’s character could have done something more than he did. The fact that he didn’t just got old and although the movie was short, it seemed like it went on longer than it should have. Don’t even get me started on how bad Colin Farrell’s acting was.

PHONE BOOTH -- This is it!!! Make no mistake where you are!

Pros:
Suspense, character development, irony, deception, and Colin Farrell of course!

Cons:
The first ten minutes.

Expectations ran high for Phone Booth, and you know how dangerous that can be. Well, I'm more than glad to turn myself in as "just another fanatic" and award this movie the rating of perfection that it so rightly deserves. Call it bandwagon jumping, but if Colin Farrell's in the band, then I got four words -- How much for rent? There's no denying it anymore, Colin Farrell is the king. The guy's got looks, he's got charisma, and based on his performance in Phone Booth, he's got acting ability coming out of his ears. Being trapped in a phone booth, obviously he had to rely more on facial acting.

I'm not really what you would call a fan of Director Joel Schumacher; as his obsession with trying to be ultra hip has ruined a number of fantastic series, such as the last 2 Batman films. Yet still, when I first heard about Phone Booth I was drawn to the film. How could I not be? I've always been a fan of suspense movies and so the idea of a film about a man who picks up a ringing phone, only to be pinned down by a psychotic sniper; seemed to good to miss, especially since at that point I had no idea who was directing. Flash forward to the films release, after far too many delays because of..

Phone Booth: Colin Farrell is a Masochist
Review created: 04/22/03

Pros:
Story line is an interesting premise. It was short.

Cons:
Too many holes in the logic of the story line for me.

"Nobody can resist a ringing phone," says the movie trailer for Phone Booth. Or something like that. Well, I can. Yes, I can walk by any ringing phone, even in my own house, and it doesn't bother me a single bit. Maybe that was why it was hard for me to get into the mood and logic of this film. Yet the idea of an unsuspecting dude getting trapped in one of the last phone booths in Manhattan by a sadistic sniper intrigued me and my daughter, so we saw it during her spring break from school. Why Use a Phone Booth if You Have a Cell Phone? The narrator of this movie starts out explaining quite a.

  The Cold Call

Pros:
Good interplay between Farrell, Whitaker, and Sutherland

Cons:
The ending is a detriment to this film

A lot of people have a fantasy about getting even with people who think of nothing but dollar signs, and care little about anyone or anything but themselves. One of those people has taken the fantasy to the level of deadly reality. He has been watching New York talent agent Stu Shepherd (Colin Farrell), and has decided that Stu needs a life lesson. How Stu handles his life lesson determines whether this person allows Stu to live or die in "Phone Booth." "Phone Booth" is a story that says nobody has the right to play judge, jury, and executioner over anyone else, no matter how much someone...

Kiefer, Don t Preach, Stu s in Trouble Deep
Review created: 04/18/03
by: beckytcy -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Colin Farrell, suspense, the hookers

Cons:
preachy, cheesy

Stu Shepard (Colin Farrell) is a sleazy, New York publicist who lies to his clients and his press contacts using two cell phones. Because his wife (Radha Mitchell) checks his phone bills, Stu steps into a phone booth near Times Square everyday to call Pam (Katie Holmes), a pretty, young actress. In this overtly moralistic fable, Stu's extramarital sins are limited to taking off his wedding ring for his daily phone calls. In other words, Stu has merely coveted someone else, but it is for his falseness that director Joel Schumacher and writer Larry Cohen want Stu to be punished. One fateful day.
