I like the touch screen controls, the color display, its ability to display pictures, its large 6GB storage capacity, and its loud volume.
I have only owned one other MP3 player and the Philips HDD1630 is by far the better of the two that I have owned. The volume is pretty loud, which is a plus. The music is very clear, and the built in FM Radio is nice when you do not want to listen to your stored MP3's. The supplied headphones are comfortable. The actual battery life is about 8 hours of continuous play, much lower than the 18 hours as advertised.
Syncing the player up with Windows Media Player is a little tricky, but it does not take long to get the hang of it.
Make sure you have Windows XP if you are going to purchase this player, because it only works with Windows XP.
I bought the MP3 player because of the storage it allowed for all my music I listen to. I had bought a smaller mp3 player from creative and it was such junk. I was so mad the creative zen mp3 buttons were so hard to push to get it turned on, I was ready to throw it out the window. A friend at work had just bought a Philips 8 GB MP3 and he asked if I could load some songs on it. I was amazed at how easy it was to load and sleek the design was. Now in the time of Ipod's, I wasn't ready to spend $300 or $400 for one. So I found a 6GB philips MP3 for cheaper than what the stores were asking, and its great. I have learned the touch pad is very touchy, but other than that it works great. The earphone that came with it really block out all sound and I was amazed. I can do my walking in the morning with music I can actually hear, not the sound of birds mixed with my music. The only feature I am not crazy about is that when you power it up, you cannot turn it off. So you have to make sure that you aren't playing music, but have it paused. The battery is another less feature I like, the life span of it in a car is only about 2 hours max. It states it has a 4 hour capability, but it's not so. On a recent trip to Washington, it didn't even make 200 miles. But I am searching for a plug in so that I can keep the battery powered while driving. I have only 600 songs on it, and I have yet to fill it to capacity. The other features of putting your favorites is even better. With Windows Media player, if you have your playlist ready, it transfers with ease and it's completely fast. The 600 songs I have loaded took a total of 15 minutes to upload. Not only that, I can even put pictures and video on the MP3 player. So if I have family member who hasn't seen recent pictures of our daughters, i can show them on my MP3 player. I do like it. Just wish the battery would last longer. Or at least have an option to put batteries in it and let it not be running music while it's powering up. I don't regret buying it. I think it was a great buy. It came with more storage than the Ipod for the price I bought it at. Which made it even better.
My name is Syeda Unissa, I bid on the item and i won that item. The seller did not send my product, so I don't know what to write it is almost one month. This was my first purchased but it did not went good. Now I am afraid of bidding again on ebay. what will happen if I bid and won that seller also not send my product. I am sorry this is not the good review.
Very easy to use, I had it pretty much figured out within 5 minutes without even reading the manual. Also I like the fact that you don't need to any special programs on your computer to access the player drive
Get a look at this first, and then you choose if you still believe it or not.

Don't get fooled by those other people claiming that you can get a Free Ipod, they're just trying to get people to complete offer for them and they really don't care about the people who does.
I'll e-mail every people that completed an offer and send them pictures of the Ipod I've received as proof so that you can get your refferal faster, I'll probably put a video too.
To make it clear, you register through the link I give you, you choose refferal account type and you complete an offer. You'll only need to do one offer.
There's this new offer called Care Bear something... You pay about 10$ for Care Bear stuff and you get your credit instantly. The good thing is that it's not like these other website or offers, you don't have any commitments about having to pay a huge amount of money each month like, I don't know... COLOMBIA HOUSE...
And if you don't like Care Bears that much, you can send them back their crap and they'll refund you. After that, the hardest part for you to get your Ipod. Refferals... You'll need to get 5 to 8 people to complete an offer like you just like you did. Talk to friends (if you have some) or do as me (it doesn't mean I have no friends).
It's not that hard and it's pretty useful if you don't have the money to buy one.
and if you still have a hard time believing me. Just search for "Trainn Proof" on google. Trainn is the name of the enterprise letting you have free stuff.
I'm not some lame spam bot or anything, I'm a real person and I have bought things here on ebay, just look at my feedbacks.
I really like my Philips MP3, I've had it a little less then a year and it works great. I have a little over 800 songs now and I love it. Good value, I purchased mine new for less then $200!!
I just love the scrolling system im this mp3. It also has great features such as radio, pics, etc. The dominant thing that i hate about this is that the battery life is too short. Its not at all what the specifications says. Also, theres no option that u can save battery . I wouldnt recomment this item to anyone who like mp3s with a high battery life.
i needed an mp3 player with better holding capacity. i did get a great deal on this item. the next thing i have to order is a charger. i did order the usb cable though, thinking that it would charge from the computer like my other gogear mp3 player. it does however need the wall charger too.
I bought this because my son has a Philips 30Gb 6330. I figured his is nice, so I would buy a smaller one. It worked for a while. It had problems with the software, but there was a recommended update. It didn't fix all the problems. I loaded music and they didn't show up. It wouldn't allow program to "repair" it. all in all this product sucks!
I needed htis to replace my old one that the hard drive quit workin on. I bought it because it was affordable and was large enouhg to hold most of my music and the important pictures that i wasnted to carry around with me.
I really like this player. (I have 2 because my husband liked mine and asked me to buy one for him also). The software is easy to work with, it plays audio books well, I love the finger-touch control system, and the sound is good for music and spoken work. My friends who have other brands (Ipod, RCA, etc. say the Phillips ear buds are better than theirs. I tried the voice recorder and it's astoundingly accurate. Frankly, I was shocked! I don't know much about the technology, and I'm just a beginner with MP3 gadgets, and I managed to learn easily.
I bought this back a few months ago, and I absolutly love it! I'm currently selling this one on ebay, because I upgraded to another one just like this that holds more. Yeah the bottons are a little sensitive, but come on thats what the lock bottons for. :) Hope this helps, if you have any questions about this product, feel free to drop me a message.
I just bought the Philips 6gb mp3 player and i am very pleased with it. Some of the things i love about this player is that it has big song capicty of 3000 songs for a cost that is much lower than an ipod. It also can hold a large number of photos too. It has FM radio which u can record songs off of. Also it has a voice recorder that can be useful in many ways. The sensory touch pad allows super scroll action that can allow u to find the song u want and fast. It is very touchy though and the slightest touch could change the song but its not a big problem if u put the hold button on. The earphones that come with the player are great for noiseless listening where all u want to hear is the music and no backround noise. Also comes with a free silicon protective case to keep the player safe and secure. Some things that i disliked about this player was that it is extremely hard sync up with windows media player(does not work with itunes) and can be really tricky getting music and photos onto the device. Once you can figure that out than it shouldnt be a problem everytime. I also disliked the battery life of this device. It doesnt last as long as most mp3 players and constantly needs charging. The average battery life for this device is around 4 hours or less. But overall i am satisfied with what i got and for the cheap price much lower than that of an ipod. So if u are looking for a mp3 player with good quality and sound, but dont want to pay $200 or more for an ipod, i recommend the 6gb philips gogear mp3 player.
In search for moderately prized midsize MP3 player, my eyes fell on the Philips 6GB GoGear. Reviews on various web-sides ranged from exellent to awful, although some criticisms were also kind of childish like "leaves fingerprints". After about 1 months of usage I can only describe this purchase as exceeding all expectations. It is easy to program and use, the sound quality is excellent and the ear-phones comfortable, with nice small size. It holds about 1500 songs (mp3 format). Besides songs, it has an fm radio, can store pictures, and record audio. Being priced 25 to 50 % lower than some of the other brand names, it is a steal without losing any quality. Sjef Otten
cost less than the 4gb ipod nano plus you are getting 6gb made by philips who are leaders in technology. the touch screen control is awesome and i really like the menu set up. its sleek and different. sound quality is awesome. really worth the money.
Great player. This is my first DAP and I really wasn't happy with an iPod for the price. I'm pretty happy with this one. It's small, has good (but not great) battery life and sounds good.
The included headphones are sooo much more comfortable than the iPod. They're almost a canal-style so they block a good amount of sound. That way you don't need to blare your music to hear it. Some people complain about the volume - I don't see any need to destroy my ability to listen to music while I'm listening to music, ya know?
I have done my research on portable mp3 players, and I was stuck between the Creative Micro and this. After holding both this feels much more comfortable in your hand and POCKET. Both are relatively the same price (depending on which Creative color you choose). For the same money you get a color screen with picture abilities. Extrememly happy with this product. Wal-Mart had it for the cheepest price around at this time also..
This mp3 player is very cool from the way the scrollpad lights up when you touch it and the size and easiness to use it. It is also a bargain at the $200 price tag for 6gb now compare that to an outdated looking Ipod. It also holds pictures, has a FM tuner, voice recording, and has a very cool thing where u can change the skin to either a black background or a pearl blue background. The only thing i didnt like about the mp3 player is how it smudges so easily but its only noticible under direct light. So with a $200 price tag, the features and the 6gb it holds, this mp3 player is quite possibly the coolest and best priced mp3 player out there.
It really takes a long time to think about what I need it to do. Response time is really slow and the power button is extremely touchy. Sometimes the thin won't even turn on. I am really dissapointed with the performance of this player. I expected more from Phillips. I hope they read this and contact me to see more as to why I dislike this product. I may just have a lemon and the rest might be amazing because there are some features which make the product stand out, which is why I bought it, but I would like for them to help me out with getting it fixed or giving me a refurbished one. If the processor wasn't so slow on my unit I would have to give it a 4 out of 5 because the only thing it really lacks is easy playlist creatibility and song to playlist movibility. Not very playlist friendly.
I love this MP3 Player. it is not as expensive as an ipod and is just as good if not better. some people explain that the simplest touch can change the song. That is why you lock it with the hold button so nothing can change. I love it so much it is an awesome buy!!!
I bought this player for my wife as a Christmas gift this past Christmas because she wanted an MP3 player for music as well as photos and the salesperson at the store I bought it from really talked this one up. Well, I wish I would have kept looking!
The music loads easy enough with Windows XP and Windows Media player but several songs just don't don't sound like they do from the disk they are from. Some sound like they skip a little. This may be in the transfer process from my PC to the MP3 but I'm not sure.
As far as the photos, forget it with this one. I still can't get a photo to load onto it! Windows Media Player will show it being loaded and that the device took it but when you go into the device in Windows Media Player, it's not there. Their customer support on their web site is no help whatsoever. You can follow what they say step for step and it still doesn't work. I even emailed their tech support about this and they just replied with a link to their web page where I started at. Don't expect much help from their tech support.
The touch pad screen is super sensitive which is very frustrating because your constantly going back and forth to get to right menu you want. This is especially true if you have larger fingers. It also hangs up and doesn't want to shut off that easily.
The last grip I have with this unit is the battery doesn't hold a charge as long as I think it should. My wife complains that she always has to charge it.
With all that said, I would walk by this one in the store and look for another brand.
I bought this mp3 player around Christmas and by late January it had been acting up. It would freeze up quite often, if this happens you just need to push all the buttons. My friend also owns one. He had to take it back to the store two times because it would not turn on. Now that he is on his third his battery went bad in under a month and wont last over a couple hours. I liked the mp3 player alot while it was running but i just got frustrated when ever it started crashing
For about $60 less then the 4GB ipod, but with 2 gigs more memory, the choice is obvious if you don't mind sticking out and not following the crowd, so what if it's a little bigger? I just got mine a few day ago, and it works just fine. Good sound quality, FM tuner, you can even look at pics (but no zoom). It took me about half an hour to figure out how to sync every little thing, I would not recommend it for people who have difficulty with the Windows media player. You must use sync or it will not work. The touchpad also has a "hold" feature, so if you accidently touch a button while this is on, nothing will happen. The only thing not good about it is if you're out in the cold, you have to take off gloves. Great if you don't have cold wether. The light up feature is very nice, and it includes everything to get you started with windows XP. I would recommend this as an ipod alternative.
This device had potential but the one thing I hate the most is the controls they are touch pad type so any accidental touch across the front of it could result in a change of the way you were listening to the music anywhere from changing the song to going back to the menu without you even wanting to do that, sucks, and you have to use windows media player to put the songs on the device which is extremely complicated. not user friendly at all. spend your money more wisely.
