I purchased this dvd because it was the first movie on vhs that my children watched. They watched it so much they wore out the vhs. I wanted my grandchildren to get the same enjoyment as my children did. It is excellent condition and is being used almost everyday.
Great movie! I remember watching it as a kid and really loved it. Now I'm passing it down to the next generation! Everybody needs a dragon friend named Elliot!!
Like this movie A LOT! Watched it when I was little! I like it because it brings back memories. My parents took my siblings and I to the theater to see this Disney Classic. In fact, my adult siblings and I were just talking about it last week. It's a cute, fun movie for kids. They haven't sat through the entire movie yet. They like what they've seen so far though.
Awesome. Every family member enjoyed it!!! Thanks for shipping so quickly. Now we click at each other like Elliott. Thanks again. I look forward to doing business with you again.
This company I would NEVER EVER BUY FROM AGAIN!!!!! It took a month or plus to get my item. They never responded to my e-mails I had to contact eBay several times for them to even contact me. And when they did I was told that my DVD was sent out on March 25th I bought it March 14th and didn't get it until April 21st!!! They take advantage of their customers. I want to warn anyone who is thinking of buying from them to really read this and look for your item somewhere else.
This is one of the best musicals ever made. I raised my three boys watching this movie over and over and over again. The cast was marvelous! I have been searching for this movie on DVD for years in the stores. Not until I tried E-bay could I find this. I want to thank the seller once again for this rare find.
The tape is very poor quality and the picture is fuzzy for the first 10 minutes of the film. I have video tapes that are quite old and none of them have this problem, so I was very confused as to how this tape got into such bad condition. It was too much trouble to send it back or make a fuss, so I still have the tape. I bought the tape because I remembered what a delightful movie this was and I needed cheering up as I have become disabled and spend a good deal of my time reading, doing needlework, talking on the phone and watching movies.
This is one of my son's favorite movies. It is a CLASSIC Disney movie! I had rented it from a local video store several times and checked it out of the library just about as much, until I finally found it on ebay.
I love the old Walt Disney Movies.I have most of them on VHS, now I'm trying to get them on DVD.Pete's Dragon is a very good movie.I kind of feel sorry for the little boy until the lady and her father takes him in to give him a good home.Very good movie.
I have loved Pete's Dragon since I was a kid. It is a sweet movie that re-emphasizes to children the importance of friendship and hope.
It is a wonderful movie and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to escape reality for a little while and enjoy a musically exciting and magical experience.
I bought this DVD for a Christmas present for my kid's. OK it's for me too. It was one of my favorite movies as I was growing up. The magic of Pete's Dragon is still with me, as I am a Mom now, and I wanted my kids to experience it too. Also, I've always been a sucker for a musical. I would definitly recommend this movie.
This is an excellent example of the limelight of 70s family television and theatrical experiences. Pete's Dragon is heart warming, invigorating and cute, while maintaining its vaudevillian flair. The characters are likable and the score is fluid. A nicely re-mastered version, this DVD is all the right Disney moves in a 90 minute journey. From "Candle on the Water" sung by Helen Redy to "Passamaquoddy" its a classic favorite.
We had wanted to rent the DVD, but couldn't find it at Blockbuster. The associate told me the Disney Classics were hard to find. We were excited to find it on e-bay. :)
Good value. Too bad the English subtitles are always there. Good e-mail communication with seller. Pete's Dragon was one of my favorites when my daughter was a child and I wanted my grandchildren to appreciate it too.
I grew up watching Pete's Dragon and like to watch old movies, so when I couldn't find it at the video store I checked ebay. Culture has changed since this movie was originally filmed, but that's why I like it. There's a couple of bar scenes and Nora's father is a drunk, but its totally innocent and the drunkenness is taken care of, but not condoned by Nora. My favorite part of the movie is that an orphan is taken in and cared for, and imagination is paramount in the movie. People are accepted for who they are by Nora, which is a contrast to the people of Pasamaquede, although this lesson is balanced by the "snake oil salesman" in the film. Nora acts on what she knows is right, without just looking out for her own personal gain; another of the many moral lessons in this movie. The case of this particular DVD is a thin one without a scene selection paper, which was disappointing, but the DVD itself is more important to me.
This story of a winsome orphan and his guardian dragon features an Academy Award-nominated score and song, Helen Reddy's "Candle on the Water." The combination of a live-action story with an animated figure was innovative in 1977, and the green dragon with pink wings will still charm youngsters today. However, its plot has the boy running from a nasty family to whom he's been sold into slavery, as well as an evil magician who tries to steal the dragon for his parts. These dark story lines may scare or bore younger children, who only want to see Elliot the dragon belch fire and give Pete rides on his back. And older children who might appreciate the plot may scoff at the relatively crude animation. This leaves a rather narrow audience window of about ages 3 to 7. A cast of veterans includes Shelley Winters, Mickey Rooney, and Red Buttons, who all turn in the hammiest of performances. Acting newcomer Reddy demonstrates both why her acting career never took off and why her singing career did. (Lines like "You're a bunch of superstitious ding-dongs" don't give her much help.) However, her sometimes awkward performance as the lonely lighthouse keeper who gives the boy a home provides the film with its heart. Bottom line: it's a keeper for diehard Disney fans, dragon lovers, and those who remember this movie fondly from their childhood.
