I just watched this film and I have to say that it should go down as one of the best Robin Williams films of all time. It was everything we have grown to expect from Williams and more. I was touched at the compassion and feelings of the film. The director really did the right stuff with this film. The movie is about a man who checks himself into an asylum because he had contemplated suicide. While there, he found that he could make other patients laugh and they would feel better and require less professional help. He then checked himself out of the asylum and into medical school. This one was really tough to watch. Not because of the scenes that were supposed to make us cry but because it all seemed so forced. I like the ideas here! Don't get me wrong. Robin Williams challenges the world of medicine, the world of academia, and ultimately God, but so many of the scenes seemed like predictable, goofy, cliches that my wife and I were laughing at totally inappropriate times.
