Parade - Under the Cherry Moon - Prince
Review created: 12/08/07

First off, the quality of the used cd was in great condition. The musical composition and lyrics on Parade are Genius. " Some times it snows in April" is one of my favorite songs on the cd. Also the movie Under the Cherry Moon" is excellent. The movie is in black and white makes for that classic appeal.

Prince CD Parade (Under the Cherry Moon)
Review created: 11/04/06(updated 11/04/06)

There are few Prince CD's that I would not recomend especially earlier in his career. He's brilliant. This is a must have. I had it on Cassette years ago and never upgraded to CD. Now that the Ipod is out I was inspired to upgrade to CD to put on Ipos as opposed to downloading and this CD as I said prior is a must have.

Prince's "Parade": You Don't Have To Watch The Movie To Enjoy The Soundtrack
Review created: 11/11/05
by: speeddemon531-- a member of Epinions and Advisor in Music

Pros:
Some slammin' funk, including the absolutely classic "Kiss".

Cons:
Slightly pretentious, as best exhibited on the mincing, fey "Do U Lie"?

There are many memorable things about the movie "Purple Rain". Excellent music and dancing from Prince and The Time. Those bizarre Eighties fashions. Appollonia's voluptuous funbags on display after Prince tells her to purify herself in the waters of Lake Minnetonka. However, one thing you don't exactly remember the film for is the acting prowess of the principals. Not that it stopped the little man from Minneapolis from deciding to make an actual "movie" as opposed to a "movie with music". After the success of "Purple Rain", Prince could've gotten anything he wanted green-lighted. So, "Under.

  Parade, Prince & the Revolution

Pros:
Life Can be So Nice, Mountain, Kiss, Anotherloverholenyohead

Cons:
Do U Lie?

Say the name PURPLE RAIN to the average radio listener, and they'll know what you mean. They might even recognize GRAFFITI BRIDGE, but ask them about PARADE and you're bound to get a blank stare. In 1986, Prince starred in his second movie, this time directing also. Shot in black and white, UNDER THE CHERRY MOON is the story of Christopher Tracy and his sidekick Tricky, played by Jerome Benton, stuck in Paris, trying to find the money to get back home to the states. Their efforts lead to Christopher, Prince's character, occasionally pimping himself out to rich, older ladies. In search of the..

Prince: 4 Play Part IV: Parade
Review created: 09/19/01
by: BARNZ -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Prince made a new movie, this is the soundtrack, well it might be the soundtrack.

Cons:
Prince made a new movie and as movies go the soundtrack is better.

Requested Update: While I believe that some opinions should be able to stand on their own, this is a four part retrospective on the early work of Prince, I guess by the time I got to Parade I ran out of gas. Rest Assured that Prince did not run out of gas on this one, it may be a soundtrack, but it has the chops to stand on it's own, head and shoulders above the movie. If you are looking for some Prince music that will not offend as easily as some of his other work Parade is the album for you. Parade was released about the same time as the Prince Movie "Under The Cherry Moon (1986)" while the.

  An Artistic Endeavor Indeed!

Pros:
Good group of songs from an ever-widening vault of wonder.

Cons:
It could perhaps use more length as a soundtrack album.

Parade represents Prince and the Revolution at their creative zenith. I was 16 and a junior in high school when this album was released, and I had just become a fan, hungry to swallow up any and everything from my latest and greatest influence at that time, and this was just the thing to digest. Prince has been quoted as saying, "...there's nothing on Parade that I'm particularly proud of...", but I just happen to disagree. After the turnabout of Around the World In A Day, the world was primed for just such a release as this, and the time period this was released in (1985-89) saw the release..

Prince Chooses A Different Set of Sounds
Review created: 09/09/00
by: lacherrymoon -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
A lot of beautiful, romantic, and sexy tunes.

Cons:
Some weird and unusual tunes.

Compared to Prince's 1984 album "Purple Rain" and many of his other successes, this album is much different in style. Personally, this is one of my favorite albums, as you can see by the name. There isn't as much "funk" as on some of his other albums, but a sensuous, romantic, jazzy style. I think a person that can occasionally get into slow or jazz type music could really enjoy this CD. He combines the funk of "Kiss" with the romantic sound of the title track, "Under the Cherry Moon." He uses a different type of funk with the 1st two tracks, "Christopher Tracy's Parade" and "New Position,"...
