Maybe, I am disappointed because of HD, but this is not HD and why waste the time and money on a Player that does not play true HD Movies also, brand name may be give a better result. I own Panasonic Home Theater Systems and think Panasonic is a Great Product. There is a difference in the cost of these two types of players, but a good shopper can find the true HD Player at a bargin.
Works great couldnt ask for a better deal. a++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Hi, This super slim black fascia single deck is attractive but buttons are hard to see. The performance seems excellent although with my panasonic LCD TV I must say there is not that big a difference between S-video and HDMI upconvert--This may be a good thing since the picture is very clear with no artifacts. The deck also plays many formats including RAM and DVDs I have made on my computer as well as with my Panasonic DVD Recorder using a Sima CT-2 Box (the best!!) to allow copying of any commercial DVD or VHS I have come across. The loading is fast enough to not be annoying and the controls on remote are excellent. I would have given this player an excellent but the DVD drawer is so thin and flimsy I wonder how well it will hold up....so far so good..peter
Great acquisition, simply to use great up conversion by HDMI, matching with our tv. recomended if can't afford blu ray devices, read the most type of media
I bought a up-converting Panasonic DVD=S53 from deal-tree. The deck connected to my Samsung 52" 1080p T.V. Has the best picture I have ever seen. My wife almost can not stand it because you can see the pours on all of the peoples faces! I love it and after a few issues about "Free Shipping" with deal tree I am so happy. And I've priced the deck at five different places and I saved almost 100 dollars. Thanks again
I prefer this brand and model player over any others. Probably because I have much experience with these ond understand them well. My favorite feature is the ability to convert wide screen DVD's to full screen.
I bought the S53 because of its ability to upscale to 1080p and also because I lready have a Panasonic Plasma TV that will do 1080p and man am I glad I bought it. Forget Blu-ray!!!
Purchase made base on progressive scan capability, price and not least of all seller reviews. Unit was shipped promptly in excellent packaging, and seller followed up to be sure all was OK. Unit operates perfectly. This was a ten star purchasing experience.
The player does what it's supposed to and does it very well. I knew going into it that it had no usb plug in and that it does not support true 5.1 surround sound. But then I can READ. It supports a wide variety of discs and has been able to upconvert them all for me. But then I can READ. So if you to have that ability then READ the manual and it will work out great. Excellent performance for the cost is my experience.
This is a GREAT player and no where in the description does it say that it is a HD player. It uses "upconversion" technology. Basically, it takes a standard DVD and enhances the picture and does a GREAT job at it. I must admit that I laughed when I read huzzunga_din's attempt at playing a HD DVD in this player. What a Freakin IDIOT!!!!!!!
Since I was going to have one dinosaur or another hanging out to be used with the DVD collection, at least it is the Toshiba that beats the Panasonic hands down for the amount of DVDs it will succeed in upconverting.
