I have been using this device for about 2 months and have really liked it a lot except for one thing I will mention later. Once I was used to the thumb style keyboard it is just fine. The stylus stores on the back so it won't get lost--very nice. The screen in bright and adjustable--easily visible outside or in. Phone works great--easy to hear. Gets your email for just about every service plus access the web and get weather, sports, even TV. Has a speaker phone, too. Which brings up the only complaint I have with it. If you leave the touchscreen active while talking on the phone you may accidently tap the screen and disconnect. However, if you program it to de-activate the touchscreen during phone calls then there is no way to turn the speakerphone on! Opps. Someone goofed on the logistics. This is a minor inconvenience for me since I hardly ever want to use the speakerphone, and, if you do want to use the speakerphone, you just have to leave the touchscreen active and get used to being careful not to touch the screen while you are holding the phone close to your cheek. The bluetooth works wonderful as well, and there is a game called Bejeweled! The camera and camcorder are easy to operate and effective. Of course, it includes the usual contacts list and a calendar function and calculator. It will make digital voice memos and keeps an active task list. You can download songs from the internet and use a wire connect headset to listen to them. Google Maps is great for getting directions and the Hot Sync keeps your info synced up with your computer via Palm Desktop. I'm still finding out new functions and abilities through the built-in tutorial. It accepts the new microSD card for external storage. Keep in mind that you have to pay $15/month for Sprint Power Vision (in addition to the monthly fee for voice use) to have internet access on this phone, but it is well worth it because now I don't have to lug my laptop around when all I need is email, weather report and map/directions. This is a wonderful device which I carry with me all the time and charge up every night (though the battery will last more than one day except that I am addicted to the Bejeweled! game). I would rate it excellent except for the touchscreen/speakerphone problem noted above.

Palm Treo Factory Setting Hard Reset
Review created: 07/25/08

I absolutely adore each and every one of the Palm Treo's I've ever owned. They are what I call the HUMMER's of the smartphones minus the fuel economy of course!I load mine up with hundred's of MP3's, photos, movies, pictures, passwords, contacts, important dates, memos and the list goes on and on....

But what the heck do I do when I'm ready to sell it? Must I go through and delete each and every single item I've added???!!! No not at all, and in less than 5 seconds you can do what called a Hard Reset which restores the unit back to factory settings erasing everything!!! Viola

A hard reset will erase everything on your device. All your data will be removed, and formats, preferences and other settings are restored to their factory default settings. Don't perform a hard reset unless you've backed up your data, or you're willing to lose everything.

1.

Disconnect your smartphone from its AC charger and USB sync cable. The hard reset will not work if either of these is connected.
2.

Press and hold Power/End .
3.

While still holding Power/End, remove the battery cover, take out the battery, and put it back in.
4.

Keep holding Power/End. You'll see an ACCESS POWERED screen.
5.

Release the Power/End button.
6.

A warning appears: "Erase all data?" Press Up on the 5-way navigator to confirm the hard reset.
7.

You'll see a series of Access Powered and orange Palm logo screens. Then you'll see a Setup screen. Use the stylus to tap the centers of the targets.
8.

Finally, you'll see a Date & Time screen. Select Next on the next few screens until you can select Done. You'll wind up on the on-screen dial pad. The hard reset is complete.

I love this phone and have wanted it since it hit the stores. At first I was looking for the red one but I like the blue one better now that I actually have it. Ebay made it very easy to make the purchase and teh seller was wonderful. It made my first purchase very enjoyable.

My Treo helps me organize to do, calender, events, elaborate address book. I can manage everything here w/o the need of the day runner, paper grocery lists, and replaces my previous method of post it note mania.
For regular phone use, I have not encountered anything I wish were different, I like the touch screen, I only use the keypad for text, email, and shortcuts(which are great, 1 key). And I do prefer the bubble buttons on the Treo instead of the flat keypads. Navigation keys are great, alot of options to map what you want to see on various type menus, you can Pics turn out great considering it is a phone cam, never wavy or grainy, even with motion. Overall, I think it is a great phone. I love the rubbery grippy shell, i do not have to constantly polish my prints off the phone. I love that it came in burgundy.
My dislikes....it is a little heavy than I'd like, but not a pain. I'd suggest at least a case or skin to protect. I dropped mine twice already on hard floor and pavement, and it is fine except for the small scuff. I'll be really happy when Palm upgrades the look of the applications. They are easy on the eyes, and good for someone who may have larger finders, but still old school looking. I'd like the same items and functionality, but a more modern look to displays will be great when the next comes out. There could be more options to customize color themes, display styles, and visual preferences, but the current are adequate, w/ no functionality deficiencies. Even if I ever upgrade to the latest and greatest, I will probably keep this an my backup phone...unless the price to sell is right, because they do sell well!
