  Comedy and Romance-Perfect Match

Yes, the movie is great. I saw it a few years ago and just loved it. Dana Carvey is great with his impressions. The movie goes from comedy to a romantic overture. It's not just a "chic flick." Men will love it too.

It was exactly as was descirbed. The DVD was brand new and in perfect condition. The only thing was it took several days for them to process my order before shipping it. I ordered it for Christmas, but it didn't arrive until the week after.

  Yes, But Who's There?

Pros:
sweet story, hilarious when Carvey goes into character

Cons:
stupid premise, Carvey-as-Carvey is as colorless as "clean water"

Opportunity Knocks was supposed to be the breakout vehicle for SNL's then-rising star, Dana Carvey. It wasn't. In a way, that's a bit unfair. This film is a comic gem. Then again, his next film, Wayne's World, more than made up for it. I've got a theory about that. If you keep reading, I'll tell you what it is. The storyline in Opportunity Knocks is a bare clothesline. It's designed to showcase Carvey's calling card - all those zany impressions. Eddie Farrell (Dana Carvey) is a smalltime con-man on the run with his buddy, Lou (Todd Graff) from angry loan shark, Sal (James Tolkan). They hide...

  Worth only a few chuckles

Pros:
Good cast, good story, some laughs

Cons:
Comedy is not right for Carvey's kind of humor he's known for, not enough laughs

"Eddie Farrell" (Dana Carvey) is a small-time, but effective con artist. He and his friend and parner, "Lou" (Todd Graff) get in a little trouble with a loan shark (James Tolkan), and have to go on the lam. Eventually, the two break into a nice house in a nice neighborhood where they start to live in. The next morning, the housesitter (voiced by Mark Ross) calls and leaves a message on the machine telling the home's owner that he will not be able to housesit. Later on, "Farrell" is coming downstairs after taking a shower, wearing a towel, when "Mona" (Doris Belack), the mother of the man who..

One of the Most Under-rated movies ever

Pros:
Very funny and really shows Dana Carvey's talent

Cons:
Critics did not care for this movie, so maybe I am wrong

Why did critics dislike this movie? Possibly because many of the best scenes take place in bathrooms, and critics have bathroom issues. When Dana decides to do something "Nice" for Pinky, the movie takes off, to the tune of "Take a Walk on the Wild Side". When Dana encounters his first Restroom Attendant, the result is very funny. The Karaoke Bar scene and Bar Mitzvah scenes are also very funny. Dana realizes he needs to learn about the Jewish faith, and the results in the movie are funny. You DVD owners will be pleased with more deleted scenes than most movies, and worth seeing. Dana has a...

Dana Carvey has an eye for opportunity

Pros:
Dana Carvey does a great solo performance.

Cons:
he didnt do anything that really went with his SNL persona.

Im amazed at you people, this movie has got to be the most underrated comedy-ever. Sorry if I come off ticked, but I cannot stress how good of a movie this is. IF ITS NOT MIKE MEYERS ITS NO GOOD HUH? Well this movie proves Dana can do it on his own. The plot which this movie is based around is this. A con artist and his partner in crime owe a bit of money to a bookie and are having a hard time performing enough of their artistry to actually pay it off. So one of the buddies suggests that they break into a rich guys house while he is not home. Dana is hesitant until he realizes that the mans..
