Definitely In My Top 10 List

Pros:
7 Minute plus worth of technical brilliance

Cons:
Ashamed that I can't play drums like Lars Ulrich

I fell in love with this song only when I started jamming in a band 10 years ago. Believe me, it is an incredibly difficult masterpiece to play. I would best describe ONE as a one big roller coaster ride. It starts off like a slow walk with its classical riffs, and soothing vocals fully disguised with a deadly plunge into hell right at the end with its angry speed guitars and double kick-pedals. Technically brilliant, it speaks volume of the talents of Metallica and clearly highlights the classical influence of its members (it seems more clear now with the recent collaboration in S

  Just So Powerful

Pros:
all

Cons:
none

Opening up like a plain old boring ballad and then letting rip halfway through into a supreme piece of thrash, One is easily one of the best Metallica tracks, nay, the best ROCK tracks ever released. Written about a Vietnam veteran waking up from a coma to find is life shattered, One is an extremely powerful piece of music. Great lyrics, great riffs, adrenaline fuelled ending, this track is pumped full of the elements which make a classic track just superb. James' vocals are quite bad on the ballady bit, but then, ballads are not what Metallica are all about, and the sheer power behind the...

  Metallica Rocks with this ONE

Pros:
ONE is on the top 10 list of Metallicas best songs ever made

Cons:
This song is killer and i dont have any cons whatsoever

I bought this album back in 1998 after seeing the band perform the ONE video on MTV. I thought it was a good song because it tells a story about a guy that is injured by a land mine and loses everything(arms, legs, sight, speech, hearing, etc...)He is in torment and angry because all he can do is lay there and he does not know what is going on. He is trapped in his body in a sense. The song says that it has left him with life in Hell. This is quite true from my view. I love the way Ulrich gets down with the gituar and plays some heavy solo's by himself. It is awesome the way they all jump...

"One" is worth more than its title.

Pros:
The whole damn thing.

Cons:
How can you be more perfect than perfect?

Machine guns rapidly fire in the background. Men scream: is it in agony, anticipation, or just the inhuman orders of the head general? We don't know, and we don't find out. Bombs go off, and the explosions send a chill down our spine. A helicopter races from one side to the other, giving the effect that we, the listener, are actually there. And suddenly, breaking the horrific sounds of war, is the light riff that seems to contradict to terrific fright of battle. A solo, executed perfectly, accents the guitar line. And then the guitars come together, as one, to form a somewhat-symphonic...

One heroic song, one awesome band

Pros:
Good solid song.

Cons:
Not much

One of my favorite Metallica songs is.. well... One. Such a transition between heavy rockin and soft melodies, One combines both in tranquility with each other very neatly. A tale about a war victim who is basically a vegetable and wishes to die. Based on an old black and white war movie, it truly captures the sorrow of one man... touching. Besides the nice little story that goes with it, the music is beyond great. Starting with some gunfire and war effects, and then into the infamous "One Beginning" which is a really slow and simple guitar solo which is really quite neat sounding. Slowly...
