Excellent Debut For Creed SurvivorsI call them survivors because the destruction of any type of "family" necessarily leaves victims and survivors. Luckily for us, these survivors, with the addition of Myles Kennedy on vocals, have turned out a beautiful CD. Favorites are Broken Wings and Open Your Eyes. There are still a few echoes of Creed but all the songs on this CD are terrific. Their next CD Blackbird, which I also have, is clearly their own. I highly recommend that you buy both CDs.

I loved just about every song on this cd. There is one that I think could have had a better melody during the verse, but the rest was just awesome. I love the CD by Alter Bridge- BLACKBIRD- so I wanted to hear their first release and didn't think it would compare, but it is great. These guys are definitely my favorite band ever.

This CD rocks, my favorite song is metalinga cus it is Edge's theme from Smackdown. Dont think Edge is the best wrestler, but love the song!!!

I had a hard time trying to figure out which band I liked better, Alter Bridge or Creed. The moment I knew the answer was when I poped in a Creed CD and listened to it right after I had just finished listening to Alter Bridge. Alter Bridge is honestly lightyears ahead of Creed. And this is coming from a die hard Creed fan! The guitar and the music altogether is more complicated and sounds better than any other band, including Creed. The vocals are a bit better, but not clearer. Some songs are hard to understand before you listen to them a few times. But, the person who out does himself is Mark Tremonti. His song writing and guitar solos are taken to a level I doubt he even knew existed. Creed and many other bands are great, but pale in comparison to Alter Brige.

This CD is amazing. The extreme vocals of Myles Kennedy and the amazing guitar riffs of Mark Tremonti makes this CD the favorite CD in my collection. If you are looking for the best example of current rock and roll with real guitar solos and tons of energy, this is the perfect CD. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys music.

Say what you want about the now disbanded rock group Creed, but their debut album, My Own Prison was a very solid mix of riffs, melody and inward looking songwriting. It wasn't one of the best debut albums ever, but it was a solid start to what looked to be the beginning of a solid career for a solid band. Over the course of the last five years though, Creed went from rocking to wretched. Their songs bled together, their ballads were horribly overwrought, and Scott Stapp quickly became a lightning rod for public scrutiny. Creed earned a lot of flak from critics over the years, especially with their final two albums. Despite this, their releases continually were topsellers at the end of the year. They were known for using the same formula in every song: verse, slow chorus, verse, regular chorus, bridge, chorus, end. Frontman Scott Stapp was definitely the creative leader, and he knew what sold. I wasn't surprised that they broke up, Stapp had been broiled in controversy and you could cut the tension in the band with a knife. What I never knew, however, was just how talented the other members of the band...

Now if you haven't heard already Alter Bridge is the result of Creeds breakup or at least their spin away from ego maniac and often times labeled Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam) wannabe Scott Stapp. It's all the original Creed members (if you don't remember their bassist was also ostracized from the group back when he called Pearl Jam a piece of crap, or something like that) with a new lead singer. The new member to take over on vocals for Stapp was to be Myles Kennedy who most people (including myself) don't know too much about the history of. I think Wind-up Records did a good job at promoting Alter Bridge as everybody appears to already know that Mark Tremonti, Scott Phillips and Brian Marshall - the original Creed line-up - recruited Myles Kennedy to form their new band. Alright, I ll admit their debut album sounds a little Creed-ish and who knows what Scott Stapp s music is going to sound like now without Tremonti and Phillips, but who cares? Right! Well just have to wait and see. I bought the album on a weekend trip out of town and got to listen to it first in my car. It s OK driving music but I must admit - regrettably - that.
