This is the best business phone you can buy period. It does everything well. I do not feel like I am carrying around a brick anymore. It is a functional PDA with a great keyboard and phone with good voice quality. Camera is 3.2MP just beautiful Speaker super nice and clear I guess the best description I can say is you are buying a very small laptop with great battery that will last for ever (over 5hr talking time)
I will till you what buy the phone and you will see it's worth every dime you spend
After using the Nokia 9500 for 1 year and getting hooked. I was looking forward to getting a hold of this phone. I'm Very happy with the E90's improvements over it's successor however it's watered down features make it a little bit of a disappointment.
The Good:
1.) The E90’s speed allows you to get things done and navigate the phone and the web quickly without having to wait seconds for menus and applications to open up.
2.) The 3.2 mega pixel camera is amazing.
3.) Full movies can be converted to Mp4 format. Video playback is flawless.
4.) While Nokia advertises 4GB maximum for the external MicroSDHC card, I’ve been using 8GB without any problems (I heard of people using 16GB and rumors that it can support the theoretical SDHC limit of 32GB)
5.) The E90 has the ability to render OpenGL Graphics (There are programs that port Quake & Quake II to the E90 in Open GL and run very impressively).
6.) GPS is fun and easy to use. It gives you the option of finding addresses from your contacts which is astonishingly convenient. GPS lock is about 5 seconds.
7.) Mp3 playback is exceptional.
9.) Button for keyboard backlight is very convenient.
10.) Acceptable size (Not quite a brick, fits in a pocket. Not so small that it cramps up your thumbs).
The Bad:
1.) The web browser.
2.) The web browser (not a typo… it really IS that bad). With my old Nokia 9500 I could select, copy, cut, and paste any text on a webpage. This is either a major oversight or a deliberate stab in the back for Nokia’s customers. This a big setback as I discovered when trying to copy and paste a tracking number for an eBay order to the USPS site. You will feel you have been had when you realize your $900+ smart phone can’t do something a 15 year old desktop computer can… You can keep your fingers crossed that a firmware update will fix this in the future or a 3rd party browser will be released that will replace this worthless piece of safari.
3.) The web browser again! This time it’s due to the browser’s inability to download unrecognizable file types. If there is no application that supports your file type, when you attempt to download it, you will get an error that says “not supported”. There is a band-aid method to get around this here: http://thesymbianblog.com/2008/03/20/hack-download-any-file-via-the-default-s60-browser/ Did I mention the Nokia 9500 never had this problem?... I pray Nokia will fix this in a later firmware revision.
4.) Other than the browser, the lack of some key commands sometimes forces you to dig through the menus to find the function you’re looking for.
5.) Lacks support for American 3G bands. Bummer… whether you blame American carriers or Nokia, it’s still a downer. It’s not a big bother for me since Wi-Fi hotspots aren’t hard to find.
Conclusion: To sum it all up, The E90 is a near perfect sundae, a little bit too simple to be considered perfect, but close! It looks and smells delicious but just as you reach for it; Nokia’s web browser defecates all over your perfect sundae. It’s still good if you don’t mind the peanuts…
Would've been a 5 out of 5 if it weren't for the peanuts.
I KNOW NOKIA E90 IS ONE OF THE BEST CELLPHONE IN ASIA AND EUROPE AT THIS TIME, BUT NOT IN TORONTO AND AREA, CANADA. IT'S VERY HARD TO FIND THE CELLPNE STORES SELL NOKIA E90. MOST OF THEM THEY CARRY OTHER MODELS OR BLACKBERRY.
I WISH ROGERS CELLPHONE STORES CARRY THEM OR SOME PRIVATE COMPANY.
Nokia E90: This phone is all you can ask for and more. Being Nokia's first Communicator on S60 it done a wonderful job with its GPS and 3G(DSL speed) internet connection and other apps. It also sports a 3.2mp auto focusing camera with an amazing video recording feature at 30fps at near DVD format. With a standard faceplate phone on the front and a powerful mini computer in the inside this phone is all you'll ever need in your pocket. It may cost a lot but offers a lot in return.
Note: At the moment I believe Cingular(The New AT&T...haha) is the only carrier in the US with 3G in certain areas. I believe T-mobile will have their 3G service by the end of the year. Be sure to take advantage of the 3G connection on this phone if you can. Thank You www.MTFX.tv
