WE ALL WAITED FOR THIS PHONE FOR A LONG TIME, AND IT IS NOW HERE. COMBINING BLUETOOTH, VIDEO, MP3 AND EVEN AN FM RADIO THAT REALLY WORKS, OUTSIDE ANYWAY. NICE AND LOUD, AND RECEPTION IS FLAWLESS. OF COURSE THAT IS ONLY ON THE U.S. CELLULAR NETWORK. THE PHONE IS CAPABLE OF PHENOMENAL SIGNAL, BUT ONLY IF THERE IS A TOWER TO USE IT. U.S. CELLULAR HAS A BETTER NETWORK THAN VERIZON BECAUSE THEY USE VERIZON’S TOWERS IN ADDITION TO THEIR OWN. I FEEL SORRY FOR ALL THE VERIZON PEOPLE OUT THERE THAT PAY MORE THAN THEY SHOULD FOR SERVICE THAT IS NOT AS GOOD. THE 6255i IS A STEP DOWN FROM SOME OTHER MODELS OF NOKIA THAT INCORPORATE PDA FEATURES, BUT IS GREAT NONE THE LESS.
This phone performs extremely well in areas of poor signal strength. I work in the Appalachian Mountains in Southern WV and the topography is definately not friendly to cell phone users. The Nokia 6255i is without a doubt the finest phone I've ever owned... period. My other brand phones aren't even in the race! If you need to talk, this phone walks!!!
I had a phone like this but it was stolen. U.S. Cellular could'nt find a new one anywhere. This is the only type of phone I like. After 3 weeks of searching I found a nearly new one on ebay. The item was just as described or better. It had many extras included. This was the sellers personal phone. I was highly impressed.
This is a nice phone, but impossile to unlock. I've purchased two, and they work great, but only on the network they are locked to. Do not purchase it and expect a Mr Wizzard to switch it over to another provider. Get one that is already locked to your existing provider.
Bought this used cellphone to replace my wife's 6255i which fell apart after literally years of extremely heavy use - she's in sales and uses her cell phone around 6000 minutes per month. REALLY!! - I've seen her monthly statements. The 6255i is for GSM networks (I think, can never keep that straight) so your carrier needs to use that system AND the phone's card will need to be flashed by your carrier. The 6255i is a very reliable phone which unfortunately is no longer made. It has a camera but as far as I know it has no music capabilities which is just fine for a tool, not a toy. Wife's carrier, nTelos, still offers unlimited local usage on one of their contracts for a reasonable price, their front office staff as well as the back office techies are very helpful - many were surprised to see a relatively new 6255i and wanted to know how my wife got one as they miss theirs - 'free' phones today are basically cheap toys for kids. I highly recommend this phone along with eBay seller ndcellular, who is helpful and communicative and stands behind the product. One downside of the phone is that it's relatively clunky, but that's a good thing for a tool which will get very heavy use. On the bright side, its controls are very intuitive and it's a well-made product.
The phone is good, but I have a problem with the service. I didn't realize that Sacramento does not have Alltell service, and I have not been able to use the phone. It was a Christmas gift for my daughter, and has not been used since we received it. I don't know what to do with the phone now.
It has a good camera, clear screen and easy to read. It comes in when others will not like in the hills out of town. The hinges break to easy. I have replaced mine twice. The on - off button I have replaced 3 times. All this in just under 2 years. Buy a pouch to put your phone in not a cover as the phone will bump things and tear the thing into two with a cover. Lots of memory with the added card. I put 2 gig in mine. I like the phone alot but it's hinges are cracked or broken on most used phones. Did drop it into water and let it dry and it worked fine.
I worked for quite some time in a celluar phone remanufacturing and repair business. MY job was to trouble shoot problems with the Nokia 6255i and VARIOUS other phones. This company will always remain nameless. The NOKIA 6255i had a hinge defect that seems to be a factory problem. This phone rarely every fails to power on. THe most common problem is after many uses the phone will often break at the hinge or crack . I have seen these phones be completely in half and still power on. The display ribbon for the lcd display is at the hinge. If the hinge breaks you may not have an lcd or cid display. If your phone is still under warranty most often repairs are covered if they are caused by this hinge. This is meant to be a helpful shopping tip and is not intended to harm any company or products name. This is truly information provided for consumer awareness purposes.
Bought this for my daughter and was very pleased with the phone and the service. The ear piece was missing and I called and it was sent in two days. They stand by product and make it right. Very satisfied customer.
I have had other cell phones in the past, but this is clearly the the best one I have had. Everything on it works great. Everyone in our operation has this phone so everyone can use the same accessories when they are in different vehicles. This is one of the reasons that I bought it, I wanted a good phone that I didn't have to pay a new price for and I found one on ebay. The only negative thing I have to say about it is that it is very easy to hit the volume button when handling it, so if my volume is weak I know what to look for. Also the party this was purchased from was very pleasant to deal with as we had a couple of small problems, but were able to get them fixed, it is nice to know there are people like that out there.
the phone i recieved was sold with a defect and the ebayer lied about it. i got a full refund though. i did have the phone for a day, but it was really cheap feeling, bulky and really just all around crappy. i dont recommend it.
PROS -Good Reception (I use Metro PCS) -Good Battery Life -Speaker Phone pretty good -MP3 Player (Love it F*** IPOD's) could play it on loud speaker also and sounds awesome like carrying around a boombox. -MMC Memory Card Slot I use 1 GB =P thats enough however you can go for 2 but damn thats alot of music. -FM Stereo could also play on loud speacker also and sounds great and good station reception but need to have earpiece plugged in. -Bluetooth Technology always a plus -Send and receive pictures, sounds, and all that other good stuff. -Cool Games but never play it though -Simple menus as usual for a nokia -And whoever said you can't play MP3's as a ringtone YOU ARE WRONG YES YOU CAN BUDDY! -Pretty good picture quality for a camera phone. Flash kind of sux. -Can record videos and watch MPEGS.
Cons -menu button in middle kind of small -ugly look and cheap feeling -need to plug in ear piece set for FM Radio -Mini outside LCD Screen could be a little better -Flash for camera kind of sux.
THE PROS OUTWEIGHS THE CONS BY ALOT. THIS PHONE IS A WINNER YOU WON'T BE DISSAPOINTED.
I personally own a 6255i I happened to pick it up on eBay from a true A+ seller. Over all I rate this phone excellent. I work in a remote area where other phones I had in the past just could not cut it because of weak cell tower strength. Nokia excels in this area. I also enjoy using the built in fm radio and MP3 player when walking. The camera is handy, but only if high definition imaging is not required.
The pros, Nokia well known great signal strength in fringe areas. Good form factor for clam shell phone. Excellent battery life even while in fringe signal areas. Good quality speaker. Good quality microphone. Excellent MP3 player Good quality fm radio. Quick connectivity to other devices via bluetooth, irda, and USB cable. Nokia's easy to navigate menus Sound quality of captured video very good. Both displays are of excellent quality. Key pad of good size, well back lit, function keys of the same quality Camera controls arranged for ease of use and remember there is a build in flash. With optional MMC card this phone becomes a data bank.
The Cons, Phone is a bit bulky compared to other clam shell design, but still within reason. Phone also a bit heavy, but still within reason. Images produced by the 1 mega pixel camera at best only fair.
All in all the 6255i can give the Motorola RAZR 3m phone a real run for the money.
I was in need of a new cell phone and new phones at the store were just too expensive. So i baught IT on eBay! I now have a great phone at a good price almost brand new!!!!!!!!
I was very pleased with the purchase. I was able to save about $200 when all was said and done by buying this phone. It was in great condition, has worked flawlessly thus far, and was by far a great decision. At first I was VERY leary of buying a phone online due to multiple issues of people who had bought them online before me. However, I did my research and found this one and it turned out to be a good experience.
This is a nice phone with lots of options; camera, video, screensavers etc. The only problem that I have found with it is that lint and dirt can easily get under the screen on the front. The phone itself is great and I have enjoyed it.
I just got this phone. I am having a difficult time pressing the menu button. Anyone with long nails can not consistently get to the menu. This button really needs to be replaced in the next phone to make it easier to access the menus. I have had another Nokia phone which was very easy to get to the menus. If you get in the menu it jumps out at a touch back to the main screen. I would not recommend this phone for a woman or someone with large fingers.
I have had 2 of these phones and they have both cracked in the same places. Both of the phones I had have lasted me about 6 months each. They are too top heavy!!! Another thing...the battery cover always falls off and the attenna gets loose. I have several friends with the same phone and they have or had the same problems with it. I love Nokia phones, but I would not recommend this phone to anyone.
I have to be honest...I was a bit skeptical about this phone when I purchased it. I have owened the 6255i now for a couple months, and I enjoy all the features; the MP3 players is great once you get the memory card. The camera on the other hand seems to be fairly weak in comparison to some of the other camera phones I have seen. Navigation is not bad once you learn the phone and it's layout. Aesthetically, the phone is beautiful...Durabitlity however seems like it could be a different story. I had heard the hinges were weak and the phone had been removed from the market in Florida. It seems like this could be ture, simply becuase the phone seems top-heavy, and it puts a lot of pressure on the hinges...you just have to be aware. Regardless of weather or not the weak hinges thing is true...the phone is like every other phone...if you take care of it, don't drop it and use proper maitnance, The 6255i is a solid purchase. Here is to hoping I feel the same way about this phone in the future!
