Pros: Ten smashing tracks from the king!!
Cons: None on this album!
In 1990, Garth Brooks had a successful and critically acclaimed debut album under his belt. Hit's like "If Tomorrow never comes" in 1989 had placed him on top of the country chart's and the single "The Dance" pushed the original "Garth Brooks" album into the pop charts. Many wondered or doubted Brooks would be able to top his debut success.....everyone besides the people at Capitol records, who had heard "No Fences", that is. Brooks' second album was released to an eager public halfway into 1990. However, like his debut in 1989, things didn't look promising at the start. The controversial...

Some Great Early Garth in No Fences

Pros: great variety, very good early Garth
Cons: none noted
Four years ago I met my significant other and found my meager CD collection suddenly being mingled with a significantly larger collection, including every album ever done by Garth Brooks. Amongst these was one of my favorites of his, No Fences. Anyone who has ever heard Garth knows his distinctive voice and mild Western twang mixed in with guitars, fiddles, and many times some pretty strong percussion (at least, strong for country). I m one of the few who has never really figured out what s so extraordinary about Garth Brooks, I love his music and think he s very good at what he does but am...

There's Garth, and There's Garbage

Pros: Intelligent, and Fun
Cons: Friends in Low Places
As you can tell from my vast selection of Kiss reviews :) I am not very fond of country music. Too much of it sounds the same, with the standard "cheatin', stealin', drankin'" motif. Any genre of music that includes such "hits" as "She's the Queen of My Double-Wide Trailer" should be immediately suspect. Garth Brooks is a breath of fresh, uncowpaddy-smelling, air. In his music he doesn't dwell on how his daddy died, or how he's trying to stick it to the man, or how he likes to routinely get drunk and wreck his girlfriend's car which really belongs to her ex. In his "No Fences" there is a tune.

Pros: great,feel good music
Cons: i don't know of any
Some people got it and some people don't, Garth Brooks has it. Some of his songs make you sad and some pump you up, this album has both. In my opinion its one of the best that he has. Most music you hear, his music you feel. I am amazed at the heart and soul Garth Brooks puts into his music, and not just some of it. Every song on this album seems like things people go through everyday, and it helps you relate to the music. He has great vocals and lets not forget a great voice. I bought this album because i was driving in my car one day and i heard one of his songs on the radio. I loved the...

Best Garth CD Ever? One of them...

Pros: Has Friends in Low Places, and 2 of a kind
Cons: a couple of slow, weak songs
I bought this album back in 1990 for one reason, and one reason only... it was the latest album by Garth Brooks. Having owned his debut album, I wanted more to listen to than just that. No Fences delivers. The album starts off with "The Thunder Rolls". It's strange, almost 10 years later, at the controversy that song and video created. "Two of A Kind" and "Friends in Low Places" are both great bar or car sing-a-long songs. I can't tell you how many times I've enjoyed singing to both of them. They are both classics in Garth's repetoire. Later I saw him at the Austin PBS affiliate fundraiser...
