  Nikon F100 a legacy camera
Review created: 12/27/06

The F100 is a great film camera that offers vast flexibility and customization. IE: You can choose how the film is loaded (advance to first frame after closing the back or after pressing the shutter release button). Choose how it meters the light, how you would like for it to auto focus or drop auto focus and focus manually.

This only touches the surface on how you can program this camera to suit your shooting needs. If you must shoot film, the F100 is a great camera to use. I paid $1,000 for mine when it was new but many are avialable now for as little as $400 (makes me sick). If you shoot professionally, a backup is a necessity and this is an affordable, yet highly dependable choice.

  Nikon F-100 film camera

I now have 6 Nikon cameras. 4 are older Nikon FM and FM2's, my old standard professional cameras for the past 25 years. Manual everything. I use a pro light meter so I thought I had it covered. Until....I bought a Nikon digital D100 and realized how great autofocus and auto settings are! Now I saw the need for a real pro film camera. The F100 is absolutely fantastic! and, I can still use all my old manual Nikkor lenses on it, plus my new autofocus lenses. The F100 is the greatest camera I have ever owned, I think, even surpassing my Hasselblad.

It is a pleasure to use

I like most of Leica cameras, Nikon and Contax. The Nikon F100 camera is very robust, easy to use and with sophisticated technical resources. Also has a grip that allows taking pictures safely and securely. It is a pleasure to use a Nikon F100.

  Nikon F100 SLR Camera
Review created: 07/16/08(updated 07/16/08)

I love this camera. Excellent build quality- rugged, made to last & be used! I shoot landscapes, street, animals/ horses/ action, some portraits & the occasional wedding. In the field I like to carry light & carry equipment on a waist pack originally designed for water bottles! Lenses are handy & bag part holds flash & film. I've been using an F100 for over a year now & finally bought my own on Ebay. It will do an awesome job if you just point & shoot on Program mode You can use Aperture or shutter priority, go fully Manual or you can download the PDF manual & get into more complicated functions & custom menus. The 10 segment matrix metering gives excellent results. I was comparing it with the F5. The F5 has faster Autofocus being designed as a journalism camera(harder on your lenses- don't put non-Nikon lenses on that baby!) & RGB metering but for my use wasn't worth the extra weight for me. I use the F100 with a 75-300mm F4.5-5.6, a 28-85mm f3.5-4.5 & an SB28 flash. It has also given great results with a 50mm & 85mm prime lenses. Whilst there are some advantages to digital I still feel film is better- as technology improves can always rescan negatives. I couldn't get anywhere near the quality of this camera in digital for the $200 I paid for it (July '08). Further reviews/ info see Kenrockwell.com or bythom.com. I like that Nikon camera have been rearwards compatible with lenses but don't recommend using DX on this as you may see fall of in the corners. Excellent doesn't rate this camera high enough IMO!

Nikon F100 Body Only on ebay
Review created: 05/09/08

A great camera at a great price, only possible on ebay! The F100 is a classic film camera. Years ago this top-of-the-line camera cost thousands, but today, with the advent of digital photography, the prices have fallen to rock bottom bargains. This camera enables a photographer to take stunning pictures. Film developing is so cheap today that our local film lab gives away free developing and prints if you buy a roll of film. What used to cost $20 or more now costs just five bucks for a roll of 36 color prints. What a bargain, and what a joy to go back to film and get such amazing pictures.

  Nikon F100 Body

Only From Nikon do you get a professional 35mm SLR for less than a thousand dollars that is excellent quality and loaded with features. True, other brands also have similar equipment, but with Nikon you can use any Nikon lens produced since the beginning. I have used only Nikon in my twelve years as a semi-pro photographer. I started with an N8008s, which is still shooting, an FM-2n, F4s, F4e, N90s, F3HP and now, finally, the F100 with MB-15 Power Pack. Believe me, after shooting the F100 I am glad I didn't buy the more expensive, and excellent F5. Unless your are a pro shooting for National Geographic (they also use F100)go with the F100. Easy to use, loaded with features, can connect to your PC and much more. I use mine for Outdoor/Wildlife/Aviation photos along with the F4e/N90s and am planning on buying a second F100. That's how superve it is! Buy an F100 with MB-15 Power Pack and you will be amazed at what a Nikon F100 can do.

  Best deal yet!
Review created: 03/12/08

Purchased this camera from a popular online camera company. I was told it was E++ quality. When I received the camera, it looked like it had gone through Desert Storm. Needless to say, I returned the camera and tried my hand at eBay. When I won the bid for the Nikon F100, I must say I was a bit nervous. The camera was described as being in excellent condition. When I received the camera it was more like a new camera than a used camera. This camera has exceeded my expectations in performance and condition. I'm a film lover (for the time) and I'd recommend this camera to anyone who still enjoys shooting film. All the reviews on the internet are very accurate; this camera is a slight step below the Nikon F5. Don't hesitate, especially if there is a good deal to be had.

  Wonderful Camera!

This camera is a wonderful addition to my growing collection of nikon. I like the fact that I can interchange lenses from my D80 to the F100 and vice versa. It is fast, versatile and is easy to use. I would say it is one of the better decisions I have made when it comes to my cameras. Im not going to get into a bunch of technican stuff because if you want to find that stuff out you can go to nikon usa's website, but if you want to know if I am sorry that I spent money on this camera the answer is, NO! This camera is all I wanted and more! For anyone looking to buy it would be a great purchase and a smart move especially if you have other nikon SLR (DSLR but not the D40) type cameras, it will save you money in the long run and you will get a great camera. Just remember too that Nikon isn't making film cameras anymore except the F6 which is terribly expensive and the FM-10 which is a piece of junk, so if you want a great film camera from nikon you are going to have to buy a used one now-a-days so buy a F100 you will not be sorry!

What used to be a $1000+ camera, is now very affordable. It shares many of the features of more expensive, "better" cameras. Yet, it's much smaller, portable and lighter. One can make it heavier and bulkier with the additional MB-15 battery pack, which also adds a vertical shutter release. With or without the additional battery pack, it's a fast and very able camera. I would recommend it to anyone lusting after more expensive Nikons as it is often as good as or better than more professional models from Nikon.

Probably last great and affordable Nikon film camera is clearly the F100. It operates well in a variety of conditions and yields reliable results. While its big brother the F5 was a vast improvement over the robust , but slow F4,the smaller F100 offers greater ease of use and a lighter body. The F5 and F100 appear similar, but they feel and operate differently. I have all three of these and all are good cameras, but the F100 makes the most sense to own whether amateur of professsional.

Best Value in a film camera!
Review created: 01/31/08

1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

In my opinion, this is the best value in a film camera right now. Especially for the prices on eBay! Called the poor man's F5 is a compliment. Excellent metering and fast autofocus. I find the weight of this camera just right. Not to heavy to tote along all day and heavy enough to get a "professional" feel. Actually easier for me to hold steady at this weight than a lighter camera. You can mount new AF lenses or older MF lenses. Highly recommended.

I shot with a nikon f4s, and it got too big and heavy as I got older. The f100 allows me to enjoy shooting film with my ai lenses in a smaller, lighter package. The improved metering and af over the f4s, the use of aa batteries and the option to use my af-g lenses makes this camera about perfect for my film needs.

The Nikon F100 has "most" of the features of the advanced F5 in a more compact and somewhat lighter form. The excellent matrix metering, fill-flash, of the F5 are carried into the F100! Hard to beat in a film camera.

Just take 2 minutes and read this. This is very EASY to do! It literally takes 10 minutes to setup. Simply follow the steps below. I promise you, this is 100% real. I will answer you on any question, just e-mail me! Here is what you do. Click on the link below, register, pick an account type (referral is the easiest) and complete just 1 offer (Very important that you complete the 1 offer otherwise your account will sit in limbo until you do). This is not like other sites where you need to complete one offer on 2 or 3 different pages!!! And a lot of these offers are FREE trials with nothing else to buy...No commitments!!!

There are plenty of cool offers to choose from such as Blockbuster online, Stamp.com, Netflix, Gamefly which are services you would regularly sign up for anyways and they're all secure networks, why not use them to get a free iPod or cash (I did the Zip.ca for a 2 weeks free trial and it is free!). Look at the offers and choose the one that works for you. After signing up and completing your one offer, simply refer 5-13 people (depending on the FREE prize you choose) to do the same under your link (just post the same thing as me in forums, Ebay, a blog! and you'll get your referrals in no time.)

Then they will ship your iPod or your selected item for free, I chosed the iPod Touch 8GB. No Joke, 100% REAL!!! The reason these companies make money, is because most people don't bother getting all the referrals. All you have to do is post it on EBAY! They use us as advertisement by word of mouth which saves them tons of money which goes toward yours and my free gift. These are legit companies such as Blockbuster, Netflix, Gamefly etc... You can copy my listing if you want. You must use your own authentic link though. You will get your own personal link after your orders placed.

This is all safe and easy!!! A 5 year old could do it.

Step 1: Copy this link: http://www.YourFreeVideoiPods.com/index.php?ref=4455972

Step 2: Sign up and chose an account type (Referral is the easiest and best).

Step 3: Complete just 1 offer (like Blockbuster or Stamps.com, I used Zip.ca) and refer up to 13 people to do the same, you can cancel your offer after 10 days (that's for Zip.ca, it changes for other offers) so it won't cost anything.

Step 4: Receive your iPod for FREE!!!!!!!!!! (Even The Shipping Is Free!!!)

For proof that this is for real, click on the link below. It's the company that is behind everything.

I like it because of its light weight and capabilities; its build quality leaves room for improvement. The biggest setback is that the viewfinder is built as an integral part of the top plate, making repair esp. time-consuming and costly.

leaked battery in an otherwise great camera
Review created: 08/06/07

The Nikon F100 is a great camera. The specific one I bought in this auction, I ended up returning to the seller because its batteries had been left in the camera (by the original store the seller had bought it from), and over time, it had leaked and damaged the battery compartment. The seller was totally unaware of this problem, and as soon as he learned about it, he took back the camera from me and fully refunded my money (he in turn returned it to the store where he had bought it). I have since bought another Nikon F100 from a store and it is great!

I was very pleased to find the film type camera that I have wanted to buy
for many months. The seller accurately described the camera, and,
the equipment was in great condition upon arrival. With a Nikon lens,
all gear was sold to me at a fair price, certainly not overpriced.
I am delighted by my purchase because of its fine condition.
Also the lens which was part of the deal is THE lens I preferred,
rather than a less expensive nikon zoom lens, which is commonly
sold with this Nikon camera, the F-100 SLR.
