Pros: Bright, uplifting music
Cons: What is Copperline
The spouse and I were on our way to our local Jewel (grocery store chain) to buy our weekly allotment of junk and other foods, when the spouse quipped that she didn t know I enjoyed Folk music! Because I drive the family vehicle to work most days, my choice of music was in the CD-player, in this case James Taylor New Moon Shine. Folk music? I had never thought of James Taylor as folk music before, I just know I like what he has to offer. I find Taylor s music musically fresh, with well written and challenging lyric s; Mr. Taylor always has a message to convey. And while Taylor s tenor voice...

Pros: Classic Taylor
Cons: Leaves you wanting more
WOW! What can you say. This album is classic Taylor. For those of you who don't know, James Taylor is noted for his ballads. In these, he expresses his feelings and opinions on life and life issues, somehow making the ballads have more feeling. His style varies from ballad to toe-tapping upbeat pop, and his lyrics can really pack a punch if you listen closely. Combining humor, passion and almost outrage (Frozen man for example) he produces an album that will delight and also make you think. Frozen Man, a song about a story he read in national geographic, spins a web about a ancient frozen man.

Pros: Beautiful sound
Cons: none
I bought this CD because I needed a recording of "The Water Is Wide" for a stage show. I had wanted a female recording, but I am so happy I own this collection of songs. After all of James Taylor's personal and drug problems I wouldn't be surprised if he had lost his voice and/or his song writing abilities. Happily for us he remains the master of both. The lyrics to The Frozen Man and Down In The Hole transport you to another place and elicit feelings of empathy for people you feel you know by the end of the song. Mr. Taylor's collaborative work with R. Price on Copperline and D. Kortchmar on.
