These disks arrived today...only 3 days after payment was sent. They were packed very nicely. I was amazed at the condition of the disks. Very rarely do you see used disks in such good shape! Not a scratch, smudge, or fingerprint anywhere. I'm very pleased. Thanks a bunch! :)
Even though the game was released several years ago and the graphics are showing their age, Neverwinter Nights is still one of the better gaming experiences with extremely deep story and interesting characters.
This game is based off of the Dungeons & Dragons universe, pitting your hero (and your friends' if you work over the internet or LAN) against countless wild beats, undead and other classic fantasy monsters. Along the way you will meet animated characters that will help you in your journey, uncover mysteries and grow to be a hero of epic proportions. The Platinum Edition includes both expansions to the original game: Shadows of Undertide and Hordes of the Underdark, allowing you to explore all of the games features and enveloping story.
Character leveling is fairly complex, allowing the user to pick from several different skills, feats and abilities. Experienced RPG players should feel right at home and pick up on the system in a matter of minutes, while players that are new to RPG or the D&D system can use the "Recommended" settings or pre-made character leveling types to guarantee they have a formidable character.
This version of the game contains all official expansions to the original game, excluding some of the premium modules included on Platinum Editions. However, even without these the game should take several weeks to beat through all of its expansions with a single character and frequent play. The game offers several different classes and alignments, along with many different side missions, so to get to see all of the game multiple play throughs are nearly required.
This game was released sometime in 2002 and some of the features show their age. The graphics, while still clear and entirely recognizable, make the characters in the game appear somewhat blocky and the backgrounds a little flat. Also, some of the interfaces in the game seem bulky when compared to modern games. None of these faults hinder the game play too much and can easily be overlooked.
Overall, this is an excellent game and also a great value for any PC gamer.
I was looking for a great game that runs on Linux (w/o wine); found it! Bioware supplies a linux client. Runs flawlessly on Ubuntu-Edgy. I thought I would give an RPG a try and I am hooked. Huge game, endless variety. I bought for the great deal on Half.com
This game is great. It provides a faithful recreation of the Forgotten Realms, and was crafted with loving detail. Any fan of Baldur's Gate will love this game.
I liked the in-game "books" too, which also serve as a great way to get your feet wet with Forgotten Realms lore, and just adds to the depth of the game.
Cons: The help text in the game isn't very useful, so if something sounds confusing in-game (such as Monk abilities, related to armor equipped), look for a faq online.
I purchased this title since it was an RPG that seemed to be similar to Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (my favorite RPG of all time).
Neverwinter Nights Plantinum performed well as far as graphics are concerned (though not above average) and gameplay wasn't entirely bad. It moved quickly on my computer with little loading time. It has some of the same types of features as Morrowind (you can transport yourself back to the main base to recoup some of what you have lost or regroup yourself for a better attack), but these features are lacking in comparison.
After playing Morrowind, this game was disappointing overall. The lack of a first-person view, some really irritating camera angles and NPC voices that only spoke the first line of what they had to say really detracted from the enjoyment of playing this game. Graphics, while good, were nowhere near those found in Morrowind, though loading times were definitely shorter. It has much the same character-generation interface as Morrowind, but with a lot less explanation as to what each choice affects making this task long and arduous instead of enjoyable.
Here's the breakdown: Graphics 3/5 Loading Times 4/5 Viewpoints 1/5 Price 4/5 Compatibility 4/5 Replay Value 2/5 Overall 3/5
My recommendation: Pass this game up and enjoy the fabulously created world of Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. Better in every aspect and quickly coming down in price, it is simply a much better game and has immensely more Replay value. Neverwinter Nights is a good game the first-time RPG player, but for anyone who has played them before, it will be disappointing.
This game is from Bioware and TSR, the authors of Baldur's gate. Like it is relies on the rules of Dungeons and dragons. It's very ric with many new spells and items and a very immersive story, especially with the inclusion of the two add-ons providing for a very long play time and trully epic story. When compared to Baldur's gate, one can regret the smaller size of the party or the inability to use the compagnon's inventory, although it is back in the expansions.
The game may appear a bit old but the developpers made players modifications (mods) really easy and there is still a very active fan community providing tons of free, fan made, additionnal adventures available on the web. As for an official sequel, Never Winter NightII has just been announced.

Pros: You determine the type of character that is created by the interaction with surroundings
Cons: none
This is an amazing game, many characters to interact with, many many places to visit, things to do and lots of interesting ways your character can turn out, this game is almost neverending in the different modes you can play, you can be the villan or the good guy, the way you interact with characters and situations determines the type of character you end up having..the graphics are cool, the missions are really great..this game is one that takes like months to play thru..and when you are done, you can start all over and play it again as if for the first time as a different sort of character..

Pros: advanced leveling, never ending story, customizable worlds, and intense online play.
Cons: the graphics may be a little dull but it well worth it.
I have personally been an avid fan of biowares products for a very long time. And Dungeons and Dragons has impacted the masses for more than 30 years now. But to finally put all of the Neverwinter Nights module in one package has got to be the smoothest move Bioware has pulled yet. With fluid gameplay and an advanced leveling system this game has definately won my heart. The replay value alone will last all users for years to come. But the most exciting feature is the online gameplay. Being able to build your own module and have hundreds of players enjoy it across the world can be very...
