Nevermind - Nirvana (USA) (Cassette 1991)

Oh well, but Nevermind....

Pros:
Everything!
Cons:
People might not like the negativity portrayed throughout the album
Nirvana will forever be remembered because of Kurt Cobain. Cobain was perhaps the most controversial rock star of this decade. At the peak of his fame, he apparently shot himself, leaving behind his wife (who, of course is Courtney Love), daughter, band members and millions of fans. Even at this point in time, we still ocassionally hear Kurt Cobain's name being mentioned in the paper (his name was most recently mentioned when his diary was sold). What I am trying to say here is that we have seen that Cobain has had such an influence on the 1990s, that it is hard to ignore him (even if you don.

Nirvana's Nevermind - A Teenager's View
Review created: 12/21/03

Pros:
A bunch of good songs
Cons:
Some bad vocals and production = some bad songs
Before I start my review, I would like everyone to know that this review is coming from a teenager that was too young to participate in the whole grunge era of the early 1990 s. So when reading this review, just remember that I may have different viewpoints or opinions than those of you that actually got to participate in the whole Pacific Northwest "grunge" scene. Just wanted you all to know before you start judging me and my review... Nevermind, Nirvana s sophomore effort released in 1991, is one of those albums I like to listen to only when I m in a certain mood in this case, a dark and...

Hey, It's The Best Album Of The...Oh Wait, It's Just Nevermind
Review created: 09/01/03

Pros:
a good amount of good songs
Cons:
many songs aren't as good as Spin and Rolling Stone think they are
Some may find it a bit surprising that in my nearly four years here, I've never posted a review of this album until now. Perhaps with what I've written below, and the firestorm I'm expecting for it, is my best explanation. Do I really even need to write an introductory paragraph to this review? I mean, honestly? *sigh* Alright, just in case you've been living under a rock for the past oh, 12 years... Nirvana first appeared in 1989 on Seattle's indy Sub Pop label with an album called Bleach. Ignored by the mainstream, Bleach went on to sell somewhat decently. The band gained steam through 1991.

One of us was lying when he said I don't have a gun

Pros:
Mammoth sound, cutting voice, strong melodic hooks. Appealing in its simplicity. Different for its time.
Cons:
The second half sounds tired in places. I hear no mysticism in Kurt's lyrics.
Here are Pyfr s basic beliefs about Nevermind, specifically its place in music history and its accomplishments. The success of Nirvana s second album had as much to do with the state of the music industry then as it did with Kurt Cobain and the songs he wrote. Despite the tendency of many to place Nevermind and the movement it spearheaded outside the context of early 90 s music, it was really more an outgrowth of the then-existing metal movement than it was a revival of punk. My friends and I weren t really into punk at the time, and we had no problem welcoming Nirvana (and the even more...

"Nevermind" Nirvana... a little Praise for Kurt Cobain
Review created: 03/24/04
by: zenmachado -- a member of Epinions
Pros:
Non conforming rocking out soul giving music.
Cons:
The time it took for me to find out that it has a hidden track.
Nirvana... this band has a place right next to The Beatles, The Who, The Beach Boys, and all other major influential rock bands. Nirvana changed rock, in such a way that it was never the same again. Kurt Cobain the front man of this grunge band, revitalised what it mean to be an influential singer/song writer with an edge. He is the epitome of self expression. Ten years have passed since his death and still he is one of the baddest rockers to ever enter the realm of revel rock. He is what you aspire to be if you want to be a rock artist. While his style is not like... let's say Bob Dylan or...
