This is a movie that I watched on cable and fell in love with. It had everything that I went though when my daddy was diagnosed with cancer. It just hit home in so many ways.
It is a wonderful movie that will make you laugh and cry. It has already been borrowed out to other family members.

This movie is great for people having to assist or that have someone that is having a battle with an illness. this movie helps you in some form or fashion to deal with it. the main star in the movie Michael Keaton does an outstanding job and it shows the struggles that he must conquer in order to live for his unborn child. This is a movie that should be seen by many and it may also gives them some uplifting moments in dealing with their own tragedies.

This is a story about a man who finds he has cancer and decides to make videos for his baby for when he is gone. My father passed from cancer and so this hit close to home. I found myself wishing that he had left something like this behind. I found that the story was very realistic and heartwrenching. I thought Michael Keaton did a great job.

It is the first date movie that my now wife and I saw. I already had a son from a previous relationship and the story line hit close to home about a father wanting to let his son know about him, since he wouldn't be around to watch him grow up. It is a very good emotional movie.

An Eye Opener for About Life & Death
Review created: 09/25/06

This movie is so heartwarming, so sad. It is the story of a man who learns that he is dying shortly after he and his wife discover that she is pregnant with their first child. Angry and heartbroken that he may not live to see his baby, the main character begins videotaping many segments of his life; from the most mundane events such as shaving to the very important; all in effort to leave a reminder for his child.

And that's enough said. You'll laugh, you'll cry; mostly cry. It is such a serious topic, handled extremely well, that if you a parent or parent to be, you will look at your life and do some serious soul searching about what your legacy would be.

I recommend it to anyone with children or wanting children!

It's one of my favorite movies of all times. It deals with life & death issues and causes me to examine my life each time I watch it. The main character, who is off the wall and not very serious chooses to become serious about his life. He works on leaving a video for his unborn child to remember him by after he dies. Love it!

I second the idea of having a box of tissues handy. Many what a tear jerker, but a fantastic one! Would highly recommend to anyone that is dealing with any one in their family that has cancer!

I don't care what you say anymore, this is My Life

Pros:
Keaton does dramatic roles! Tears will fall, or your money back.

Cons:
A few loosely acted moments and stuff.

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to My Life. The latest movie I wish I had written myself. Allow me to introduce you to Bob, who has cancer. (No, this is not Fight Club.) The doctors say he only has a few months left to live. But here's the catch; his wife Gail is pregnant with their first child, and Bob's only hope is to live long enough to lay eyes upon his baby. In the meantime, Bob has been making video tapes, so that his kid will know who he is. It all might sound a bit simple and possibly even boring, but you know how these movies are. Usually, they find a way to fill it up,..

Pros:
absorbing drama with laughs and tears

Cons:
Its director never directed again.

My Life is a film that hits the ground running. It doesn't stall or beat around the bush. It begins with a screenwriting no-no, of starting with the backstory - but then proves the exception to the rule. What we see is an instance of childhood disappointment. It's an event of trivial concern to a parent, but from the perspective of the child, it's one of those moments that burns itself into your soul - and you're never the same. The next scene was the one that hit me. Bob Jones (Michael Keaton) poses for a video camera, playing with his new toy, speaking into it with a mixture of reporter's...

Pros:
Story line, acting, interaction with family members

Cons:
The tragedy of the loss

Browsing the channels the other evening I ran across the viewing of MY LIFE. I had seen this movie some time ago but thought I would watch it again and I am glad I did. Michael Keaton is one of those actors that adapt to any role that is offered him. He was too cute in Mr. Mom (and believable), a riot in Beetlejuice, and Lordy, in that Batman outfit (he was the best by far). However the character he plays in this movie seemed made for his acting talent. In the first place, he is an overworked (his choice) over achiever that has a loving side as well. He is reluctant to let this side appear in.

Pros:
A Good Examination of What's Important in Life

Cons:
Weak Storyline and Acting By Nicole Kidman

The movie begins with a young Bobby Ivanavich, outside at night, reciting Star Light, Star Bright. You see, all he wants is for a circus to come to his backyard tomorrow after school. He makes a deal with God. Do this for me, and I ll make sure everybody finds out about it and then you ll get more money for your church. He goes to school the next day and invites all of his friends. The circus does not show up and thus begins the transformation of Bob the optimist, to Bob the pessimist. Flash to present day. Bobby is now Bob Jones (Michael Keaton), a successful advertising businessman. My Life.

Pros:
uplifting in spite of topic

Cons:
--

A movie I viewed before having children, remembering it now only makes me appreciate the life I have now. Michael Keaton turns in a wonderful performance as an over-achieving professional on the fast track. He has a beautiful home and beautiful wife to match. It's just the two of them and they are content in life. Enter: Cancer. Somewhere in the midst of perfection, a flaw raises its ugly head. Perfect, believable, something far too many viewers have experienced. Keaton's character gets cancer and with the help of his wife, portrayed by Nicole Kidman, he learns what he can and begins a battle.
