Must Love Dogs (2005, DVD)

I liked this movie, as I am a fan of both Diane Lane and John Cusack. They have both probably made better films, but it is worth a watch. After a divorce, Sara (Diane Lane) finds it difficult to find a decent guy to date. She even answers a personal ad in the local paper that turns out to be her widowed dad (Christopher Plummer)! Her sister secretly puts a personal ad online for her and the replies begin to come in. Her sister has to 'fess up and shows them to her, trying to convince her to go on a few dates. Each seems wrong in his own way. After more than a few tries, she finds one guy (John Cusack) interesting, but things just keep getting in the way of them making a good connection. Another guy kisses her in front of him, her brother comes to her house drunk, one of her dad's girlfriends calls with an emergency, etc... So things don't quite get off the ground for them. But he's on her mind all the time, she does like him. She sees him one night while she's out with a couple of friends, but it turns out he is on a date with another woman. Maybe it wasn't meant to be after all? Or will love find a way?

The first class cast in this movie overcomes the cliches and the direction/photography is great...Reminds me of Doc Hollywood..

Worth renting or buying used....

This movie was great. We laughed a lot. I liked it even better because there was no really bad scenes in it. I highly recommend this one to watch.

I love this movie. It's sweet and a realistic view of older single life, plus it doesn't hurt that I have a crush on John Cuszack who is adorable in this movie.

Love the movie and wanted a copy. The tape is brand new and I have had no problems with playing the dvd. I will buy again from this seller whenever I need another dvd.

Heartwarming tale of divorced woman whos family is trying to get her back into the dating world by putting personal ads online without her permission. Funny a bit slow moving at times but good cast and happy ending. I chose this one because its the type of movie I like.

This movie was still in the plastic when I received it. It's in perfect condition. The movie is very good has been watched a lot.....

This is a great movie. You will want to watch it over and over again. There are great laughs in this movie. Great acting.

What a romantic comedy!! John Cusac is just a doll in this movie. I had rented it and decided that I wanted to have it for future viewing, so I ordered off Ebay. It's a very cute movie.

I really enjoyed the dialogue between the characters. You have to watch it more than once to catch all the funny , insightful lines. It was fast paced yet paused often enough to set up for the next line. Not real life but close enough without going over the top.

Another movie first tested on net flicks. I love to watch this movie over and over. Has a good plot and several funny parts too!

Love Diane Lane and this movie is a good example of her talent. The chemestry between she and John Cusack is palpable on the screen. The other actors, Christopher Plumlem and Stockard Channing have an over all effect of filling out the plot lines. Of course Mother Teresa, the water scared dog, is the starring attraction. Her fear of the water, as a water dog, makes for a funny plot line under the love story. A great date movie, or chick flick as some would call it. Fun for all the family.

The reviews were so poor on this movie I honestly wasn't expecting much, even though I love John Cusack. I saw it on HBO and just loved it and had to buy it. Diane Lane and John Cusack are wonderful together. If you are a single dating nightmare, or looking for a great date movie this is it. Funny and still smart. You will be laughing your head off. I LOVED IT!

This is a sweet movie about a woman beginging to date again with the help of her family. Lots of silly things keep happening. All and all its a cute movie.

Must Love Dogs is truly a fun, engaging love story, for those of us who are not the gorgeous 20 somethings that are generally in these stories. The main characters make you feel that crazy unexplainable love is available to everyone, not just the rich, famous, and beautiful. A real feel good movie for the average of us out here.

when i bought this love i would think it would be about dogs. instead a great another mussy romactic movie. where do they come up with these titles?

I thought the dvd was in excellent condition and I received within the time said. I have not watched it yet, but I have heard it is a good movie. I am a fan of Diane Lane's movies. So, I know I will be pleased. I would buy again from the seller.

I decided to buy the movie b/c it has a Newfoundland and since I show Newfies, I thought it would be a good movie. Unfortunately, at this time, I have not seen the movie yet. However, any movie with a title "Must Love Dogs" and a Newf MUST be great!
