Mr. Deeds was one of the most surprising films of 2002 for me - Adam Sandler plays Longfellow Deeds, a small-town pizza shop owner who stumbles across a fortune. The movie then follows Longfellow deeds and his romance with Pam Dawson (Winona Ryder) - and their ups and downs. Mr. Deeds is purely entertaining - no great acting, but very funny humor that mixes Adam Sandler's typical sarcasm with some slapstick jokes.
Mr. Deeds Cast: Adam Sandler .... Longfellow Deeds Winona Ryder .... Babe Bennett/Pam Dawson Steve Buscemi .... Crazy Eyes John McEnroe .... John McEnroe
This is a great comedy that everybody will enjoy, even if you're not a huge fan of the lead actor!
A great movie with a hilarious plot and a great cast. Mr. Deeds is one of my favorite Adam Sandler films. It features great on-screen chemistry between Sandler and Ryder and has a great supporting cast.
This is one of those films that will have you laughing you buns off.
Final Verdict:
4/5
Rent or Buy?: If you love comedies this is a must buy
I like the movie because I think adam sandler is a good actor in this movie. I decided to by this movie because I thought I could watch it at anytime. Also thought I would not be able to find it anywhere else besides ebay.
Great all around movie, buy it for your collection, it's worth it.+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
The movie was worth the money I paid for it. It was shipped to me fast. No complaints. I have always loved Adam Sandlers movies. They are funny and interesting.
I rank this as one of Adam Sandler's worst movies. It's made worse because it's a re-make on an only so-so original. I watched it once and immediately resold it. Winona Rider looks hot in this one, though! She's the best part. The comedy is mediocre, the plot line is ultra-simple, and the performances are less than par. All in all, you can skip this Sandler flick and not feel that you're losing out on anything.
Adam Sandler is such an awesome actor and all of his movies are great but this one in particular I really love! It's so funny and so original! He does a great job and plays his true funny/angry self!
This movie was good for a family with kids 10 and up . Most of the younger audience would be bored or hear a few wordy dirds. I think you should watch this if you are in need of a good comedy. Mr.Deeds

Adam Sandler Just Before People Took Him Seriously - Mr. Deeds

Pros: You smile a lot.
Cons: You may be looking for something else.
If there is one thing that Mr. Deeds is trying to tell us (and it says it several times), it s that simple doesn t necessarily mean stupid. I think it s speaking as much about itself as it is about its main character. The movie is simple, but that doesn t mean it s stupid. In the movie, Deeds (Adam Sandler) gives a speech at one point to a bunch of sickeningly rich muckety-mucks, and asks them if, when they were children, what they wanted when they grew up was to make a lot of money. Of course not. They wanted to be firemen, and magicians, and veterinarians. They wanted to be things that...

Mr. Deeds - It's All Wicked Good

Pros: Adam Sandler is his usual adorable, funny self.
Cons: I wish someone else besides Winona was cast.
Preamble I'm convinced that there are people in this world who just don't get Adam Sandler. When he was "the dude" on Saturday Night Live, there were actually people who didn't appreciate the Red Hooded Sweatshirt song. *GASP* Those are the same people who will not get nor appreciate his latest film Mr. Deeds. Mr. Deeds is loosely based upon the 1936 Gary Cooper comedy, Mr. Deeds Goes To Town. The Story Blake Preston (Harve Presnell) is an 82 year-old billionaire media mogul who thinks (literally) that there isn't any mountain that he can't climb. Unfortunately, he freezes to death (albeit...

Winona Ryder will Steal your Heart with Adam Sandler, in: Mr. Deeds

Pros: Love Story / Comedy. Adam Sandler & Winona Ryder have great chemistry
Cons: only an hour and a half
Many complain that Adam Sandler gives the same performance every time. This may be partially true, but he continues to get better playing the sweet guy with a bit of a temper in Mr. Deeds. Sandler plays Longfellow Deeds, a Pizzeria owner from a small New Hampshire town, every day he reads a greeting card to his pizzeria patrons, and sends them to Hallmark, with the hopes of getting one published. I do think the story could have played on this a little more for laughs. Deeds is discovered to be the sole heir of his uncle, the majority share owner of Blake media. The value: 40 Billion Dollars,..

Adam Sandler in Mr. Deeds

Pros: Sandler beats the crap out of people, Winona looks great
Cons: The only good laughs are Sandler beating the crap out of people
Adam Sandler and Steven Brill, star and director of Little Nicky, have re-teamed to bring us a remake of the 1936 Gary Cooper and Frank Capra comedy Mr. Deeds Goes to Town. Less than thrilled with the concept? You should be. Mr. Deeds utilizes the age-old story of small town guy comes to the big city. In this incarnation, Longfellow Deeds (Sandler) enjoys a simple life running his pizza parlor in Mandrake Falls, New Hampshire, where his goal in life is to get Hallmark to buy one of his greeting card poems. Deeds inherits $40 billion dollars worth of stock in a media company (think AOL Time...

Adam Sandler Revisits an Old Sitcom Plot - Part 6

Pros: Winona Ryder is pretty.
Cons: Complete lack of effective humor.
I used to be a big defender of Adam Sandler movies. I contend that there s an intermittently inspired lunacy to Billy Madison, a frat-boy charm to Happy Gilmore, a lot of good-natured sweetness in The Wedding Singer, and a few good dumb gags in The Waterboy. I ve recommended Sandler s comedy albums to several friends, and I think the guy had some truly brilliant moments during his tenure on Saturday Night Live. Basically, I m no highbrow Sandler-basher. Having said that, it seems that Sandler s latest effort, the loose remake Mr. Deeds, is an absolutely wretched excuse for a movie. This is...
