I searched for the box set relentlessly for 6+ years. I finally found it on Ebay as was ecstatic! This movie is my favorite movie of all time!!! If you are a hopeless romantic or can see the beauty in anything, then this is the movie for you!!! The sights, the colors, the music, it will overload your senses with wonder. Ewan McGregor is to die for and Nicole Kidman is stunning. Who knew she could sing? The box set is much better than the run of the mill DVD in the fact that it has a whole disk dedicated to extras. Bios, music, concept designs, interviews etc. If you hate to see Moulin Rouge end, then you won't be disappointed with this box set because after the movie you have a whole other DVD to explore! 5 Stars, two thumbs up, and whatever else would make this movie perfect!!!

This is a very interesting film with an interesting consent; Take a 1952 Oscar winner for best Picture, Throw everything out but the name (script and premise and all) Keep the Main character but change him from a sad old drunk to a whimsical merry elf, make him an insignificant supporting character and add a butt load of pop music--- Sounds awful, but your Wrong... This is one of the best films ever, just watch it and prove yourself wrong!!

It has been a long time since I have been so wonderfully surprised by a movie. Of course, I had to go see it since it took place in my favorite city in the world!! While recently in Paris, we stopped to take a photo opportunity in front of the famous Red Windmill . In the beginning we see a red curtain. In front of the red curtain we see the image of a man conducting the music we are hearing with what can only be described as reckless abandon. The curtain, the orchestra pit, and the flickering of the projection light all lead us to visions of the early days of Hollywood. With my somewhat... shall we say... conservative... tastes in movies and books, it came as somewhat of a surprise to me the other day that I would even consider sitting down and watching Moulin Rouge, much less buying it on DVD. Yet, that's exactly what I did. What came as even a bigger surprise to me is that I liked it. I liked it a lot. That's not to say that Moulin Rouge didn't take a bit of getting used to.
