Moulin Rouge (2003, DVD)

Moulin Rouge is one of very few musicals I would ever watch let alone purchase. It set the stage for movies such as Across the Universe and the latest version of Phantom of the Opra but in my opion far exceeds the competition. It's a beautiful love story.

I love the dvd! it had no scrathes and it played perfectly! I decied to buy it because it was cheap! That is one of my favorite words.lol They should have more movies for a cheap cheap price! I loved the movie. I saw it on tv and I thought it was so romantic and I wanted to buy the movie and c it over and over

First let me say that my son(23)and daughter(17)both loved this movie. I bought it to see what was so compelling. To me it was trite (at best) although the music was mostly very nice. Real love is SO much more than what is on display here. Ewan McGregor did a believable job with his part so if you are a romantic soul-go for it-just don't expect the same from life....

Moulin Rouge is one of my all time favorite movies. Pure entertainment!!! Singing and dancing into our harts, Who knew Nicole Kidman could sing, and Ewan McGregor was so talented. Wow,
I bought the DVD after watching the movie on pay per view. I cant stand it when movies are not shown in wide screen format; I had to buy the DVD. I never tire of watching Moulin Rouge.
Hats off to the producers for making such a great movie. And thanks for the performances!

This movie is definitely unique. If you're expecting a serious movie, you might be disappointed in the director's 'style,' as it is quite zany and ridiculous. One might call it corny, but I think it takes the audience through an exciting story, with a beautiful ending. It's the right mix of tragedy and insanity. I wouldn't so much call it 'comedy,' because it's just silly in the directing style; crazy zooming, over the top musical numbers, etc. But this is one of my favorite movies. Beautiful singing, great acting all the way around, and just a fun movie on the whole.

i love the whole story. i love the musics especially "Come what May". and i love the fact that two of my favorite celebrity knows how to sing. i love to sing and i can't contain myself on singing the songs they have on the soundtrack.

Sometimes I think there are two kinds of people in the world: those who loved Moulin Rouge and those who didn't. I happen to be one of those who loved this movie so much I saw it three times. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time I was watching it and couldn't believe what I was seeing. A melodrama, a musical, a spectacle. An unusual cast of characters and a singing Nicole Kidman.
The dance routine to Roxanne was incredible and the ending was amazing.

My daughter is 16 and loves every musical there is . Starting with, West Side Story, Scarlett,Rent, I can go on we had this on Tivo for months so I just went on Ebay and found Moulin Rouge yet another musical to add to her collection .She is very happy with the product .Thanks!

Great movie! Great acting! Great singing! This movie is very addicting. Every time you watch it over and over...it never gets boring...

Normally I am hugely opposed to musicals, all this singing puts me to sleep. But I fell in love with Moulin Rouge because of the story. I am a hopeless romantic and adore French culture so this movie was made for me. Defintely not a shoot-em-up movie, Moulin Rouge tells the store of the beautiful Satine (Nicole Kidman) and her secret love affair with the writer of the play she stars in. This is basically an updated Romeo and Juliet, without all the annoying Shakesphere prose. I highly recommend it!

Excellent movie, great soundtrack (the cast sings the songs-remakes including Elton John, Madonna, Nirvanna and many others). Kidman shines like a diamond doll should. Good story, effects, plot and cast.

I am probably one of very few people in the world who was not immediately taken by this film. I thought the begining of the film lacked focus and pourpose. The Plot and character development was confusing at best. I was ready to hit the eject button and make this DVD another coaster.
BUT then came the Tango. Perhaps one of the best choreographed and staged and filmed dance sequences of all time. WOW. From there the story started making sence and the characters started coming together and developing. By the end of the film I decided that I only wasted half of my money and half of my time. But the last half is certainly worth its own part. The last half nearly stands alone.
I point no fingers and make no blame. Its just that if there had been an intermission before the Tango (ROXANNE) then I would not have come back.
Costumes, sets and decor, cinamatogrephy and performances were top rate throughout.

I recently purchased the Moulin Rouge DVD for my family, which has lived up to all expectations thus far. I have no dislikes and I look forward to any other DVD purchases I will have.

i bought this movie because i saw it on hbo i think and when i watched it the first time i wanted to watch it over and over so i had to buy it plus i like the music in it.I love musicals about life and love

The DVD, Moulin Rouge, was purchased through Ebay because my wife wanted a copy of this movie for her own collection. The transaction went smoothly and the item was just as advertised. Movies such as this can be purchased much less expensively through trusted sellers on EBay than through other offline sources.

Moulin Rouge is a disturbing film. There are 2 or 3 scenes that eclipse just about all that I have seen in film. The height of emotional content, color and heart felt acting all focussed into a few musical notes. And yet most of the film, the negative space around these few Everest moments is bizarre and has 'grating' quality to it. Is there something wrong with the director and the actors? To me, it's as powerful and disturbing as the blood seeping from Satine's mouth as she croaks at the end of the film. Weird stuff.
