Motorola W315

I have bought 3 of these W315's (for my mom, and 2 sisters), so I must like the phone ok :)

It's a simple/basic phone, without all the fancy features (such as cameras) that raise the price, and add to the likelihood that something will go wrong.

It's a folding phone, therefore the buttons don't get pushed accidentally (my sister likes this, because her old phone dialed 911 twice while in her purse).

Also, it uses a mini-usb power connector, which is less problematic than the older-style power connectors on older Motorola phones.

Also, the phone supports both digital & analog towers - analog drains your battery faster, but the analog signal travels farther, so you're more likely to get a signal when you're stranded in the middle of nowhere.

Now the bad news: The FCC will stop requiring wireless companies to support Analog in Feb 18, 2008, and Alltel (along with most other carriers) will probably stop supporting Analog signals after that time (see http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/consumerfacts/analogcellphone.pdf for more details). After they stop supporting analog, then this phone really has no advantage over a simpler/smaller all-digital phone.

Also bad - my mom's phone just "stopped working". It was still under the 1-year Alltel/Motorola warranty, so they replaced it (but it took over a month).

Also, Walmart sells the W315 for $40, for their "Simple Freedom" prepaid plan.
But rumor has it you have to get the "Subsidy Code" or re-flash these phones,
or something, to be able to get them activated under another service.
To avoid problems, make sure to ask the ebay seller if the phone they're
selling was one of these $40 prepaid, or not (could be problematic getting
it switched over! - buyer beware)

I didn't have a desire to use the phone. I just resell them. Great phone. Helped out someone that couldn't afford a brand new one.

Phone does not have internet browser capability with VERIZON Make sure when you purchase this phone to check with your phone service to make sure it is capable of internet browser. Only some companies have capability with this phone.

Simple phone... easy to learn and use. I went from a high-tech smartphone to this, and i'm actually happier with its simplicity. ugh! can't stand touchphones anymore!

I love This phone ! it's great for a teenager who want's a basic phone just for texting and it doesn't cost a fortune but rectently mine got messed up by water so it quit working but now we are planning to get another one because they are so basic and cheap but have just the things we need not the extras like camera's.

I like it because I can depend on it and it rings loud so that I can hear it if I lay it down somewhere and need to get to it quickly. It's very basic, but it works just fine.

It has a speaker which is very loud and also it has great reception anywhere including in your house. If you realy want a little phone, but with features this is the one just for you . Thank you!!

I bought this phone as a replacemnet for my daughters that had gotten wet. It is different type than she had and she likes this one better. She loves the color and design.It is a great phone for the price you pay for it.

product was as advertised.small and the color was very good.it was for my nephew an he loved it.he also said he hadn't seen one like it anywhere.service was fast also.were very happy with our product. nannysts

I love this phone and it works for me to be able to have service thru it for my laptop so I can use it anytime.And Iam thinking about getting my husband a new phone so I may be getting another one .

Unless you are a picture fan, this basic phone is really a treat. The reception is great and the clarity of voice is excellant. It caries easily in your pocket a has good durability. I replaced my phone because the other went through the washing machine, which BTW is bad news. However, I liked it so well for the reasons above the i decided to go to Ebay and get another. SAVED ALOT!! And, because the W315 came free from Verizon to begin with, and many people upgraded to something with more whistles and bells, there are plenty on the market keeping the replacement price WELL below what the cell phone company wants to charge for a new one. Highly recommended.

Lost phone. Needed new one. But does not work with my current phone plan. I like motorola phones. They work great. I am currently reselling this one on Ebay.

This really turned out to be a great deal. The phone won't go out of style any time soon. Sure, it might not have a camera or bluetooth, but those are obviously not essential features to a cell phone. The Motorola W315 has excellent volume, a color screen, good speakerphone, and, most importantly (especially with most wireless companies nearly forcing you to keep the same phone for a 2-year duration), it's sturdy. If I had to change one thing about this phone, it would be the "on-screen" speed. For instance, going from menu to menu always seems to lag a bit, but it's really not a huge deal. I love the time display that never goes away, and the battery life is great, too. You won't go wrong purchasing a new or mint condition Motorola W315.

Love the signal strength. Live in rural area where there are not enough cell towers nearby. Price was very reasonable, I only needed a replacement cell phone.

I bought this phone to replace my phone that I lost while outdoors. The phone works great and holds a good charge. So far it has been sturdy and very user friendly. My only dislike is that the speaker phone is a bit weak and I still have to hold the phone up to my ear to hear it clearly. Considering what I paid ($25) it is a great deal!

I bought the phone to replace one that I was unhappy with. The larger keypad was a factor in buying it. Also the ease of finding former phone calls is a plus. It also has voice command calling and a voice record to keep messages. The sound quality is above average. Has a limited amount of features but good value for the price. I would not recommend it for someone who requires all of the latest technology, but this is by far the best phone I have had.

I had to replace the phone twice now. It scratches on the insides within weeks! The hinge wiggles loose. The ringtones are VERY basic. The phone however has great reception. Good for someone who uses the phone for a phone only. I got it b/c it was cheap. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

The phone has a great look. Nice rubbery texture helps from dropping and scratching phone. Very clear LCD, nice displays, great colors. Has all the functions needed, We bought this phone as a first cell for our very young teen daughter with the thought that if she lost it, no big deal.
