Motorola MOTORIZR

Motorola finally released a compact phone that's powerful and reasonably priced--very similar to the KRZR but in a candy bar form factor. Like Samsung phones, the RIZR has a non-standard port for charging the phone or connecting an ear piece or a USB cable to your computer. The Moto RIZR Z3 packs a lot of functions into small dimensions--about the size of a Nano Ipod--touting a brilliant, colorful screen and very loud and clear speakerphone. The music player loads slowly and is simplistic, but the sound quality is superb through the speaker on the back of the phone or using an ear piece.(Distortion occurs when using the speakerphone on phone calls.) The 2mp camera/camcorder sports a light for indoor shots but is hampered by a 1X zoom lens. You'll get your best shots typically outdoors, although the phone has control settings under options. Running on T-Mobile in the San Francisco Bay Area, signal strength and call quality is excellent, even indoors, the RIZR showing full signal strength much of the time. This is not always the case with T-Mobile on other phones. Battery life under normal usage is good (3-4 hours) but drains quickly when you use Bluetooth to transfer files to-and-from a computer. The supplied USB cable permits easy media file exchange by dragging files from window to window. But if you want to sync your contacts, calendar and notepad with Outlook, for example, you'll need the latest version of Motorola Phone Tools. (For some reason, the RIZR will not sync if you have either media edition of Windows Vista or XP.) The voice button on the right side of the phone easily and accurately allows making calls or opening applications by speaking a number or name in your phonebook or giving a command to start an app. The RIZR lacks an email client, unfortunately, although Phonescoop and other mobile phone site reviews claim it exists. The keypad is stiff like a RAZR making texting harder. If you're planning on accessing the Web, get a good pair of eyes. The type size is very small. T-Mobile re-arranged the T-Zones home layout screen with a search screen at the top and three small tabs underneath for WEB, DOWNLOADS and MY ACCOUNT. If you use the T-Zones menu to read news, sports or check the weather, the text is larger and very readable on the RIZR's screen. Downloading with EDGE technology is slow. As more users acclimate to 3G and EVDO networks, EDGE will increasingly appear sluggish. Mechanically, the slider is smooth and easy to push up and down, but the left and right edges of the center D button, larger than most Samsung, Nokia and Sony-Ericsson's, is very close to the T-Zones and Clear buttons. If your finger gets too close, you may unwillingly cause the phone to jump to an unwanted screen. Finally, despite this very attractive phone with its blue and black finish, the screen appears smudgy and needing cleaning. So keep a small cloth handy. All-in-all, the Motorola RIZR is a well-designed, powerful mobile phone with excellent features for its cost--$99 with a one year T-Mobile contract or around $200 without a contract on eBay. If you want a compact multi-media phone with a good camera lens, music player and excellent sound and reception, the Moto RIZR is an excellent choice.

Very dissapointed with this phone. The screen freezes up, have to shut phone off to get it work right. For some reason I can't send or recieved picture messages. Can't connect to internet either.

Wow,what a phone! I bought this for my son and he LOVES it. The features that it has are endless. It's just a great all around phone.
This was my first experience buying a phone on-line and what a great experience it was. The seller was easy to work with and answered all my questions. It was shipped right out to us. Everything went so smooth. I would purchase again actually I already did.

I like all the features about this phone. The only thing I would ever change is how text pictures come into my mailbox.

I decided to buy this because my MPX220 broke after three months of use. Unfortunately this one lasted 15 days... 1 day past warranty. Both phones were Motorola's. But, I haven't had too much problems with Motorola's until these last two; both of which were purchased from the same seller. Coincidence?

I decided to buy this phone because it was a great deal. It was an awesome new slider phone and it was also from Motorola, which I am a fan of. I love the easy way to pull it out and see what is going on without flipping something open. It has an easy-to-navigate menu and GREAT text SMS setup. It is the right size to fit in my pocket, and is a superb new cell phone!

What I really dislike about the phone is it doesn't have any animations programmed in it. I've never seen a newer phone without animations programmed in it. Other than that I really like the phone.

This is a very good phone, menus and layout similar to RAZR and other motorola phones. Build quality seems better. Was able to download my backup phone list from my RAZR into the phone with motorola phone tools - very nice. The phone has a cool ruberized slip proof type of outer surface. Feels good in your hand, and does not side of the dash.

The phone has been the best phone so far when compared to the razor or the KRZR. So far only complaint will be it has many buttons on the side and I sometimes hit them by accident when trying to connect it to the charger. Camera is decent but needs improvement I hope maybe a firmware update will be available to fix this, but overall it is a great phone! Reception is good and people sound clear.

I loved the phone because it is so compact and works awesome. The only issue I have is that it won't download pics as stated. I do have a provider listed and it still won't download, they say they don't support this phone but the descrption listed my provider.

What was sent to me was exactly what was said in the description, even down to the part of the charger with the U.S. adapter that was in the description. Plus the phone is a good phone i like it.

love the phone! love the mp3! on time shipping too! the only thing is that the entire phone was in another language....which was totally fixable, except for the games. i have had it for a couple of months and still love it! great reception pretty much anywhere!

phone works, but the user did not tell me or specify in the post that the phone was in a diffrent language. it would have been nice to know it was a chinese phone, cus if i would have know before hand i wouldnt have baught it.

i wasn't very satisfied with my phone, because my predictive text was in chinese or some language similar to that. i tried switching it to english and it would just switch back on its own.All the games were in another language too. as soon as i got it, i charged it for a day, and then i started using it. well, the battery went dead after like thirty minutes. so, then i had to to switch it out because after charging it, it would die soon after. now after awhile i have been receiving some weird texts asking me to purchase things, that had nothing to do with my phone service.

Not satifisfied with this product. I am not able to use picture text messaging and internet services in which I really need. I have e-mailed the company regarding this and they giving me links to try and fix this but it is not working. I have requested a refund and am waiting to hear back again.

Love the look of the phone. I bought this phone for my sons' birthday. Got it in blue too (his fave color). I must say that I had no idea it would be that difficult to set up. It took me 2 weeks of fiddling with the thing to get it set up for the internet. And I still haven't been successful at setting up the "ticker". He can get on the net now with it, but has to go in a round'about way to do so. I wouldn't purchase it again, but only for that reason. Seller was great and shipment was fast, but the phone itself was a disappointment. Oh! And the ear pieces broke in about 2 weeks. Very flimsy.

Love the phone. Great graphics. Great sound and capabilities. And the 2.0 MP camera with light is excellent.

I didn´t like it at first, but now I got a great handle on the phone and it is full of the features that I needed on a phone.

This phone is easy to use and has the best reception of any phone I've ever had. You can use it closed or slid up. People understand me when I'm talking. Down side? Not many except I have a hard time answering a call when I'm talking to someone. It's not clearly marked like the razor, or taking it off speaker phone. I haven't had time to really get into the technical stuff that goes with it, like the mp3 player, I've only used it as a phone, and yes I've tried the game that came with it, which is nice to pass the time away when waiting for someone. So far I like almost everything about the phone.

I love my phone its sturdy feels substantial good reception. great camera so far no complaints. Bought the phone cause it was different. got a good price on it also. I didnt know much about the phone before i bought it. but I am glad I took the chance.
