I bought this game for my boyfriend because he just got a new Sega Genesis (off of eBay) and he used to love playing Mortal Kombat on his old one. I haven't actually seen the game, but my boyfriend said that he loves it and it's just like he remembers from when he was younger.
BUY IT!! Where else can you rip out someones heart or spine? It's great!! Great stress relieving game and great to humiliate your friends with any FINISHING move! A revolution in fighting games that has yet to be topped! GET IT, the second one, and the third one.....get them all!!!
I liked this version of MK1 better because of the music, graphics, blood, gameplay, and cheats. A lot of fighting games were made for the Genesis. all are good.
Well I like this product cause it is a classic and it's one of my favorite fight games ever, the only dislike is that from playing games from these days it's a big different, but it's a great fighting game.
This game is one of the best games I remembered fmo my childhood. Actually the first violent video game that simply kicked ass. IMHO, there hasn't been a game to make the ingenuity in this genre
I recently rediscovered my sega genesis video game system. So I picked up this game because I used to have a lot of fun playing it years ago. It is a little outdated now compared to some of the new systems that are out there, but it brings back good memories.
I always loved this game on the sega, its better than the snes version of the game and always worth playing. I own all of them on sega and got them here at discount games too for hardy nothing.
This game brings back great memories of going to the arcade and playing this game. The Sega Genesis version was better than the Super Nintendo's version as the Super Nintendo left out the Gorey FATALITY moves in their version. Sega Genesis left it in their version, but you had to put in a code to "unlock" the FATALITY Version of this game. Great game play!
one of the best fighting games ever made for any console. all those that turned them to buy newer games at game stores should kick themselves, cause it the FIRST one.

Pros: Game play wise the intense action is still here.
Cons: The graphics and sounds have takin a hit.
MORTAL KOMBAT (Arena/Midway, September 1993) During the height of the Nintendo and Atari era Video games had been long regarded has great entertainment for the kids. Games like Space Invaders and Super Mario Brothers for example were fun for the whole family (although there are still a lot of hidden old school adult games like Bubble Bath Babes out there for hardcore perverts like me). It wasn't till Sega started to become a force in the industry when a few of the licensed video games dared to expose the kid's only myth. On the surface Midway's Mortal Kombat in the arcades was your typical...

Pros: Awesome story, music and generall setting
Cons: Gameplay
When people talk about moments that changed videogame history, Mortal Kombat without a doubt has to be one of them. While it may not have been the first videogame to feature blood and killing opponents, it was probably the first where those were it's main selling points. The game stirred up a frenzy of hype, and there were countless calls from all over the world to ban it.Naturally, this did nothing but make kids want it more. And I still remember the day I got my copy.It was my Birthday, and my parents bought me MK and a 6 Button Megadrive pad. The game is a one-on-one fighter, like the...

Pros: Fatalities, baby!
Cons: The computer seems to beg you to slaughter it
Any self-respecting gamer remembers the first time he laid eyes on Mortal Kombat. I know I do. I don t even think I was a teenager at the time. But I remember casually walking into a local gaming spot and seeing it. At first I thought it was odd that Combat was spelled with a K instead of a C, but the misspelling of the title was quickly forgotten as I gazed upon the photo-realistic characters. I thought it was incredible how real they looked. Then I watched a character get smacked around while fantastic arcs of a red goo-like substance flew all over the screen. It took me a couple of minutes.

Pros: Well, there's blood...
Cons: ...but the sounds and graphics were bad; had some serious gameplay issues involving the controller
Now I know I m probably going to upset a lot of gamers when I say this, but I can t hold it in any longer. This has been something I ve wanted to get off my chest since this game hit the shelves back in the mid-90s. Whew okay. Here goes. Mortal Kombat for the Sega Genesis is hands-down one of the worst arcade-to-console translations I ve ever had to dissatisfaction of playing. I can literally count the good aspects of this game on one hand and still have a digit left over to give it the finger. That s it. No more holding back now I m going to tell you all how I really feel about the Genesis...
