Was recently driving back Home from a Holiday visit listening to a book on tape. Was getting the head bobs until I switched to this upbeat, fun CD!! Woke me right up as a sang along and hand danced. A perfect pick you up!
Great CD. Had seen the play and wanted to get the soundtrack. This one is based on the original Broadway cast and is so good. The words in the CD are very helpful as the dialogue is written so well. I would recommend this for someone who enjoys a quirky and fun musical.
Having seen the show in Atlanta in February which was excellant because of the enthusiasm of the cast and having been a Monty Python fan for 40 years I just had to hear the original cast recording-it is one of the best musicals I have ever seen and a must for any Monty Python fan-I highly recommend it
If you at all enjoyed Spamalot, or Monty Python and the Holy Grail, I would recommend this soundtrack! All of the songs from the musical, sung by the people from the broadway run (including Tim Curry). The only thing it is missing, in my opinion, is the French Insults... However, it is lively and funny, everything you could expect.
Saw the Play at the National Theatre in DC. Love it. Kids thought it was wonderful too. Got the sound track so they could learn all the songs. "Run a Way"!! is Big Favorite. Not a bad song in the Bunch.
If you saw the musical, this is a must have. All the great songs and music with a bit of dialogue straight from Braodway. True fun for the true Monty Python fans.
Monty Python's Spamalot is a terrific CD. It is just as looney as the original Monty Python's Flying Circus shows and movies were. You can't help but laugh, and listen to it again and again to catch all the great humor.
...and not likely to be anytime soon. I was quite skeptical with the transformation of "In Search of the Holy Grail" from the big screen to a broadway musical but when you put geniuses like Eric Idle and Mike Nichols together you are afforded a comfortable zone in which to sit back and simply anticipate. Combined with a cast including Tim Curry, David Hyde Pierce, Sara Ramirez, Christopher Sieber and Hank Azaria you have a force to be reckoned with. This collaberation resulted in one of the most hysterical, satyrical and monumental shows of all time. One of the few Broadway cast recording which stands on its' own beyond the show itself. Don't miss the show...it's absolutely brilliant!
