this is a very well built camera, solid feels great in your hand.picture quality is excellent with minolta lenses.problem areas are l.c.d. bleed, which means the l.c.d. panel on the camera sometimes bleeds and makes it hard to read, rubber grip turns white with age, this does not affect the operation of the camera.there is also an internal battery which will need replaced at a cost of about $30 overall a great camera which can be found on ebay at reasonable price.

If you find a good one, you have a classic SLR in the best sense, solid, reliable and fun to use.

But my EBay experience warrants a cautionary note. In addition to the problems mentioned in the previous review, these cameras suffer from failure of the aperture control module, which means that the aperture will always be at f22.

This means that most of your pictures will be severly underexposed. In most cases this problem will cost more than the camera is worth to fix. It took me three buys to get a good one. So be fore-warned. Ask the seller about this.

I have a very happy young lady who is going into Photography, she has a digital SLR and now will have a 35mm SLR do do different pictures and double exposures. Her dad had the exact camera so we can now use it for parts!

The pictures of your camera good have been a bit more close up and more angles!

  An oldie, but a goody.

I bought this camera after reading about it on a photography forum, and just had to see what the hoopla was all about. When I received it I was impressed by the camera's weight, this was not your average plastic bodied AF camera.
The AF is a little slow by today's standards, but I don't mind. I have no real complaints about the camera. The camera is a real keeper.

Excellent Auto Focusing SLR Film Camera

This is a really fine film camera with lots of features. I had a lesser version of the Minolta before that was stolen in a home burglary, and this one was purchased to replace it. I have used three rolls of film in it so far and I am extremely happy with my purchase.

Had heard this was a good camera if you got a good used one. My purchase was in mint condition and works great! Nonetheless, I still prefer similar Canon models. Maybe just because of familiarity with the brand. But, nothing but good to say. I have not experienced any of the problems other reviews report.

The maxxium 7000 is a very good camera for the novice or simi pro, easy to use on full automatic or manual. It uses AA or AAA battery which is easy to find at any store.

Get your FREE PS3!!! I did it and it WORKS!!!
Review created: 02/29/08

Get one for FREE!!! Have a look at this video first:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFKYVE__Mug

Just take 2 minutes and read this. This is very EASY to do! It
literally takes 10 minutes to setup. Simply follow the steps below. I
promise you, this is 100% real. I wouldn't jeopardize my eBay account
status if this was a scam. My feedback is real and I will answer you
on any question! Here is what you do. Click on the link below,
register, pick an account type (referral is the easiest) and complete
just 1 offer (Very important that you complete the 1 offer otherwise
your account will sit in limbo until you do). This is not like other
sites where you need to complete one offer on 2 or 3 different
pages!!! And a lot of these offers are FREE trials with nothing else
to buy...No commitments!!!

There are plenty of cool offers to choose from such as Blockbuster
online, Stamp.com, Netflix, Gamefly which are services you would
regularly sign up for anyways and their all secure networks, why not
use them to get a free PS3 System or cash (I did the Posterpass.com and paid only $10 for 4 posters). Look at the offers and choose the one
that works for you. After signing up and completing your one offer,
simply refer 8-13 people (depending on the FREE prize you choose) to
do the same under your link (just post the same thing as I have on
eBay, and you'll get your referrals before the auction even ends.)

Then they will ship your PS3 System or your selected item for free, I
chose the PS3 80gb System. No Joke, 100% REAL!!! The reason these
companies make money, is because most people don't bother getting all
the referrals. All you have to do is post it on EBAY! They use us as
advertisement by word of mouth which saves them tons of money which
goes toward yours and my free gift. These are legit companies such as
Blockbuster, Netflix, Gamefly etc... You can copy my listing if you
want. You must use your own authentic link though. You will get your
own personal link after your orders placed.

Step 1: Click this link:

Step 2: Sign up and chose an account type (Referral is the easiest and
best).

Step 3: Complete just 1 offer (like Blockbuster or Stamps.com) and
refer up to 13 people to do the same (use eBay! Do what I did, copy my
ad).

Step 4: Receive your PS3 System for FREE!!!!!!!!!! (Even The Shipping
Is Free!!!)

For proof that this is for real, click on the link below. It's the
company that is behind everything.

  Maxxum 7000 film camera
Review created: 02/06/08

1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

Camera purchased was very good and fit my needs with an upgrade. Had a 5000 series which developed a problem but was unable to replace the body. Unit replacements were either lesser quality than mine and when I did find one to bid on, lost the bid by a few dollars. Lost one of excellent quality to an error with my card company. The 7000 takes all my accessories and works great. The only displeasure was with the battery holder which had a slight corrosion problem and does not handle lithium batteries unless I use AAA (4). Recommend Highly. Camera is easy to use and takes great pictures.

Minolta Maxxum 35 mm 7000 Film Camera

The Minolta Maxxum 5000,7000,9000 series film camera was arguably one of the best cameras of its type ever produced. Not only were they ergonomically correct, but had features that many other cameras of the period did not have.
For $300, I bought about $2500 worth of equipment based on 1986 dollars.

I have owned this camera for many years during which I have taken some of the most breathtaking pictures imaginable. This camera is as good today as when it was manufactured over 20 years ago. Everything still works, the pictures are exceptionally sharp, and the camera has never failed me. If you are looking for a good film camera because you just aren't sold on digital or prefer to have both, you can buy one of these on eBay pretty reasonably.

  Minolta maxxum 7000 AF camera

Very happy with the 7000 af camera. In fact I've bought 2 in the last few months. I also bought a book to help understand some of the other settings on the camera. In program mode the camera is very easy to use. The more I read and use this camera the more I like it. I also bought a 9000 AF but I seem to like the 7000 much better.

Great 35mm camera-still as good as today's digitals
Review created: 08/29/07

I love the easy use of this camera. It is a great looking camera. Picture quality is great and still 10x better than today's boring plain digital ones. You can get these cameras for a small fraction of the original price. No wonder these cameras cost around $450 even twenty years ago. The main word with these old school cameras is quality design and workmanship. I love these cameras and even have a Minolta Maxxum 5000 camera also. Today's cameras can not even compare with the old school ones!!!!

I prefer Minoltas because they are good quality and you know what youre doing with it. I have had this camera for many years and still use it today. Its from 1985 and still works perfectly. It can be auto focus or manual, and can handle a variety of lenses. It takes 6 AAA batteries.

by far the best auto focus camera minolta ever built. the most durable camera and easiest to have repaired. metering system is the sharpest still of any minolta camera i've used. lcd displays are apt to have some bleed and it has an internal battery that needs replacing every several years but both of these negatives do not come close to outwaying all the positives this camera brings to the table.

  Maxxum Collectors - Notes
Review created: 08/01/07

Agreed-excellent camera and worth having a spare body.

1. Internal battery and instructions are available on EBay from at least one vendor for under $10 with shipping. Use "search" function on EBay; easy to change out.

2. Also: Collectors; look for the MAXXUM name with "crossed XX" as in EXXON's logo. These were the very earliest issued MAXXUM products, before EXXON complained. Bodies-7000,lenses-50mm,37-70mm Zoom[some with Macro] and flash units-2800 are available sometimes for a small premium in price.

I have two crossed xx 7000s that I alternate with an 8000i.

  Well made classic camera
Review created: 06/20/07
by:
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

I recently purchased this camera because my dad has one. He got one brand new, with all accessories for Christmas back in 1985 or 86. He has always taken awesome photos. He ended up taking my sisters wedding photos with it, as the photographer she hired didnt have a spare battery and his died right after he got there. She would have had NO pictures if it werent for my dad...and her pictures are just great!
Anyway, great pictures, easy to use. Heavy (which could be a good or bad thing depending on the person)..I like the way it feels in my hands, made well. Auto focus is a little slow and loud, but if you are used to it then it doesnt matter.
I think overall, a great camera, better made then todays cheap plastic ones. Lenses/flashes still available and at a much better price then Canon lenses. If you want some nice pics, program mode or manual to learn with, I recommend one.
