I have always been a big fan of arcade games, and this collection didnt let me down! All are just as i remember, playing this game took me back to my younger years. If you decide to pick this up, you wont be dissapointed!
Great games on the disc...but I can't play it on my xbox 360. As of 3/7/08, this game is not listed on the website (I should've checked before purchase) as xbox games compatible with the 360. Sad because the games on the disc are great "old-skool" games that are fun AND nostalgic to play.
If you have the original xbox...buy this and have fun!!! Cross your fingers for me that it will soon be added to the compatibility list.
I got this for one game on here - Cyberball! I love this game and have many fond memories of playing it. The other games on here, most notably Rampage, Gauntlet and Xenophobe are classic 80's arcade games. I remember getting a roll of quarters and spending hours playing Gauntlet! The biggest let down to me on this is Spy Hunter absolutely sucks in this version. I'm not sure it would have been able to compare to the former arcade game anyways. Mortal Kombat is ok on here, but it is tough to do fatalities. Same with Primal Rage. Still, for the money you can find this for and for the fun you can have, this is a great game. I don't think it is forward compatible with xbox 360 tho and that could be a problem for most. If you have an xbox or if you want to get this for playstation, you or kids will enjoy it. My nephew and sons LOOOVE Rampage!
The old school games on this greatest hits list are pretty good but the are better greatest hits games out there. You get 20 games but 10 of them you never heard of, 5 are lame, and the last 5 are worth playing. So if you really want to play old school Mortal Kombat then buy it but don't pay retail for it.
I'd say spend $4 max on this game. Still worth playing I guess.
I bought Midway Arcade Treasures 2 as a present for my husband who loved playing Rampage as a child. The game was just as he remembered it and it lets you continue to come back to life for as long as your playing. The only downfall is you can't save your game. If you shut it off you have to start at the beginning again next time. I haven't yet played any of the other games on the disk but I'm guessing they'll probably be the same way.
I bought this disc to play Wizard of Wor. It plays just like the arcade version, the difference being this time I don't have to shell out one quarter after another else by now I'd be down about $50.00. There are also a dozen or so other games that I'll probably get around to playing but for now it's between me and the Wizard...in other words...(Said in the voice of Movie Trailer Guy Don Lafontaine) "In a world where Wizards hit you over the head with a big stick...A hero emerges to kick his butt around the moon! Wizard of Wor...This time it's personal!"
I mainly bought this for Mortal Kombat 2 & 3. Then I noticed games I forgot about and once loved were on here, like Primal Rage. Ahhh.. the memories of dumping my change into these machines, now they're at the tip of my fingers anytime I want.
