Microsoft Zune™ Black (30 GB) Digital Media Player (JS8-00001)

This device, simply put, is amazing. I'm sorry, but I have to compare it to iPod, because most people have expierence with it. Hopefully one day, I'll compare other MP3/4 players to the Zune.

The Good:
Wireless capability (sadly not that many people have one though...)
Radio (The built in digital read out is great to easily find out what your listening too)
No scroll wheel (That's right, I said it. Personally iHate the scroll wheel, with the zune you can scroll through thousands of songs, without moving your finger, simply brilliant)
Screen size (.5 of an inch doesnt seem like much, but boy it really is! plus this is verically measured, probly about 2 iPod screens)
Unscratchable surface (the screen seems to be covered with very thick plansic, will withstand a key stroke, along with double shot plasic, resistant to finger prints)
Sheer inovation (Microsoft pull off more inovation than that of the iPod. It simply looks much more stylish, feels great too!)
Firmware! Updatable, anything could be changed! Games, more wifi ideas, anything!

The Bad
Size Size SIZE! IF you have a big pocket, then you're good. It wieghts not too far from the iPod, but is almost twice the thickness, definately something that needs improved on. The Creaive ZVM actually heavier and is a little fatter, so it isnt that bad, but hte only downside. Let's see some Zune Micro's

Zune has become the number 2 selling product with ipod being 1st, this was achieved in just one week after launch, not bad at all microsoft!

Software isnt bad, but needs some working on. Just overall feeling of software feels a little... rushed. Overall media content is a little more rich than iTunes, Zune= quality, iPod= quantity

Ipods only advantages are size. Go down to BestBuy w/e and check size, if your fine with it, there is NO REASON TO GET AN IPOD!!

So far again, the best MP4 player I've ever tested!

This unit was listed as used, but the unit was so clean, with no micro scratches indicating that this is probably a refurbished unit. The unit adapted immediately to the newer Zune software and above all, the battery seems to hold a charge well.

Huge screen, easy to use, scratch resistant, Wi-Fi file sharing, FM tuner (I love regular FM radio, so what?)I have it all in the Zune. You want simplicity, get a Zune.

More music and video. There are more accsesorys for the ZUNE! It was very well priced and yhey shipped it fast.

The obvious:

1. I can sync and add music on multiple PCs
2. The screen is bigger and supports 16 x 9 aspect encoding without letterbox lines
3. The menus are more attractive and can have a custom background
4. It has an AM/ FM radio

The not so obvious:

1. When you run an Ipod through video cables no video appears when playing music. With a Zune you see the whole menu and album information on the screen.
I have a DVD screen in my car, with my Ipod I saw "No Signal" with my Zune I see anything that is on the small screen in any mode !

The only thing Ipod has over a Zune is it is slightly smaller and lighter. Must be that the Zune is bigger because it does more :)

i buy this thinking ok maybe something broke on it but well i can fix the little stuff but i comes there no cords i have to buy them for 30 great added to the 50 price then it never turns on it the worst i send a message they act like it my fault that i brought it take it from me never buy from them talk about customer service

This Zune player is great! I got it for half the price it sells for in stores. It was excellent condition and in the original box with all the original accessories. I have downloaded a ton of music and videos on it and haven't even used a fourth of the memory space. It is very easy to use and the display is awsome. I am considering purchasing another one especially if I can get it for the price that I got one my first one.

Daughter loves her Zune. What a great little music system,this thing is so portable esp. with a set of fold up speakers.One of the best things I've purchased in a long time. We still haven't tried out all the features but are definitely pleased with the quality of this pocket powerhouse. I am jealous and may have to upgrade from my own ipod nano. This was Zune #2 for our family and the 2 teenagers love their toys and carry them everywhere. Was a bit concerned that the 30 gb would be too big but they fit into a jeans pocket or a purse and I got the unlimited downloads(from the Zune site) so they can also download movies too, pretty cool! They have personalized their pictures and are always showing off their newest photos. I really like not having to buy the whole album for a one hit wonder song.Remember all those 45's??? (okay that does date me) I would reccomend the Zune for anyone for the quality and the ease of use.Two thumbs up!

it's the first zune i bought, i had a 30 gb ipod. it's new, it works, it had everything it needs to function, it just doesnt have a manual. it left me guessing alot on the buttons, but other than that it works fine, for a refurbish.

I love everything about the Zune except for its weight and thickness. It is a little bulky, but can do way more than the Apple Ipod 30GB. I've owned and sold a variety of iPods, and this is my first Zune. I would recommend the Zune over the Ipod from now on, simply because it has radio, wifi, and can synchronize music/videos/pics to anyone MUCH simpler than on iPods!

Bought the Zune 30GB a couple weeks ago and really like the format better than the Ipod. Screen is clear and not fuzzy. Sound quality is great.

The microsoft Zune is an amazing gadget. Dependable, sturdy, a screen you can see well, holds an amazing amount of music, videos, pictures. You can connect wirelessly to other Zunes and share music. I find the battery life very good. Its easy to use, easy to upload music to and it gives me hours of continuous listening enjoyment without repeating songs because of its capacity OR I can easily tell it I only want to hear a certain artist. The accessories for it are great. We are a three Zune 30gb family. My daughter gives hers a real beating and it takes it--not that I would suggest you can abuse this machine. The software updates itself when needed--which is great because its microsoft. The downside...is its a little big in size if you like to slip something in a pocket, but with the ease of my 53 year old eyes seeing the screen I can't complain.

Zune = better than iPod as far as technology goes. The non wheel is a lot simpler. I do wish that the software had a more user friendly interface that was at least as good as iTunes.

Great product, holds tons of songs, very versatile. Compared it to the iPod and found it does just about the same things, but at a fraction of the cost. I would recommend the Zune to just about anyone who is interested in getting a good, quality product.

The price of Zune Player JS8-00001 was right, the memory (30GB) was very good for my purpose (just to listen Music - not for video). It was an excellent delivery of my item: well packed, in a perfect condition, came even earlier than I expected.
Disadvantages. I bought it new from Internet site. The player was sitting on seller's shelf for too long, the original warranty was expired, it needed an edditional effort to re-enstate warranty.
May be because of the long shelf time battery life for audio is only appr. 10 hours instead of promised 14.
The biggest disadvantage is that there is no written user's manual. All what I learn was by tries and errors or from Web. Web manual is poorly written and organized.
Otherwise it is a good product, and I enjoy it very much.
