This is THE BEST so far (untill Sony PSP 3 comes out) in gaming. You can watch movies with it, TV, listen to music, and of course, play games. The Xbox 360 comes in two flavors: the $399 version called the Xbox 360 and the $299 Xbox Core System. Neither of them will work with the accessories of your old XBOXs' The more expensive version includes a lot of key accessories: a wireless controller, a hard drive, a communication headset, an HD component-video A/V cable, an Ethernet cable, and--with the initial batch, a remote control. The Core System includes only a wired controller and a standard A/V cable and means you will have to spend money on buying extra stuff for it. Both have HD compatibility and that means you have the best video quality.
All Xbox 360 systems come with a free Xbox Live Silver membership, which should be sufficient for downloading patches, ad-based media content, and other freebies. But if you're looking to play games online and use Xbox Live's more advanced features, you'll need to upgrade your membership to the Gold level. Sign up for the longer 12-month subscriptions to get the best deal, or get the shorter subscriptions to get just a taste. (Xbox 360 systems shipping this year all come with one free month of Xbox Live Gold service.) Their are a TON of old XBOX games that the XBOX 360 is compatible with and additional titles will be added. In order to play these games on your Xbox 360, you'll need a model with the hard drive attached for storing the software emulator code required to run the game. If you have a broadband internet connection you can quickly download FREE emulators from Xbox Live. Here are some of the accessories.
Accessories:
Wired Controller The $40 Xbox 360 Controller comes with an extended 9-foot cable and an improved ergonomic design, compared to the controller for the original Xbox. The centralized, glowing Xbox Guide button gives you quick access to your digital movie, music, and game libraries, and there's an input for connecting a communications headset. Incidentally, this product will work with your Windows PC as well--just download and install the drivers from Microsoft's Web site. Pretty neat, I think.
Wireless Controller
The Xbox 360 can support as many as four wireless controllers. The gamepads feature built-in vibration and have voice-communication inputs that work with any standard cell phone headset, and the nickel-metal-hydride battery pack's remaining charge can be seen through the Xbox 360 dashboard. Seems like a steal at $50--but you might want to pick up a Play & Charge Kit or a Rechargeable Battery Pack.
Most of this information came from Cnet.com, experience from playing the 360 at Wal-Mart, and talking to others about it.
The 360 had a lot of bugs due to the fact that it was released so early, that is why it was not running for a while at Wal-Mart. It would over heat becaue it was turned on for 12 hours a day.
The PS3 will hopfuly be comming out in the fall and that will be the next best in gaming, seeing that you can have up to 7 players with BlueTooth controllers, byt you can read more about it at my guide on the PS3.
Hope this was somewhat helpful.
