This is a great comedy to watch and own. I can totally relate to Pam Byrnes and the way her dad treats her fiance Greg Focker. My dad treated many of my boyfriends and my now husband the same way. I gotta admit my husband never had it as rough as poor Greg though. Greg really gets the short end of the stick when playing volleyball in the pool with Pams family and friends. They yell at him to go after the ball then when he does he smacks Pams sister in the face with the ball (OUCH!) and then they yell at him for being to aggressive. The poor guy just can't get a break.
This is definitely one movie that you won't be disappointed with in watching. Hey, if you don't think it's good enough to keep you can always resell it. In my book this movie is a keeper.
It is a classic of the new humor and funny to the bone, not for the youth and faint of tolerance for sex and language and boarderline off color throughout the entire film.
I loved this movie. My boyfriend hadn't seen it,that's why I ordered it.He enjoyed it very much, and he's not really into comedy. I saw it a few years ago and loved it all over again.
This Movie was very average. There were some funny moments but most of the comedy scenes seemed contrived. Ben Stiller did not deliver as a comedian. Robert DeNiro genre is not comedy.
This moving is hilarious. It keeps you laughing throughout the entire production! I also recommend you viewing Meet the Fockers, which was the second movie made.
I absolutely loved this movie! I am the only girl in my family and all of my cousins, uncles, brothers and dad treated every guy I brought home the way they treated him and almost all of them were as awkward and he was. I laughed so hard watching this movie! I didn't care for the second one but this one is awesome!
This is a very funny neurotic comedy with perfect slight slapstick and untimely errors. You will laugh from stop to finish. The story is great, the acting is fine and the characters are well developed and each comedic in and of themselves.

It's Not Glen, It's Greg, Greg's Afraid Of The Ball

Pros: Ben Stiller, Robert DeNiro and Owen Wilson
Cons: Last half of the film is pretty lackluster with only a few laughs
I will admit that I went into watching Meet The Parents with relatively low expectations. In fact, I didn t even see the film in the theater. It was only after much nagging from my then-girlfriend did I even finally watch it. I was a marginal Ben Stiller fan at best and while Robert DeNiro is one of my all-time favorite actors, I couldn t imagine he would be entertaining in a comedy (she didn t know about Midnight Run, so my argument was partially valid). Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised at the results. Meet The Parents really offers nothing new to the world of cinema. It is the...

Pros: Stiller and De Niro save the film with their chemistry together
Cons: The movie isn't as funny as it thinks it is
I came out of the video store with a happy skip in my step. I got it. I finally got it. I d missed it in the theater and it was always checked out at my local Videorama, but today luck was on my side. I opened the car door and trumpeted to my family: I rented something good for us tonight! The chorus of Grouchettes answered: What? What? I held up the copy of Meet the Parents. Dad! You idiot! How could you?! This from my 16-year-old son sitting in the back seat. From the expression on his face, I thought he d just bitten into a moldy tomato. Exsqueeze me? Baking powder? I said to him. How...

Pros: absolutely hysterical
Cons: none
Introduction For the first time in a long time my husband and I got a babysitter and went on a date. We knew we wanted to see a movie, and there was no question of which movie we wanted to see. My husband and I had seen the previews for Meet the Parents and thought it looked hysterical. We weren t expecting Oscar-worth film, just a few good laughs. We got exactly what we wanted from this movie, and then some! Characters/Story Gaylord Greg Focker Ben Stiller delivers an excellent portrayal of Greg Focker, a man in love and up to his eyeballs in problems. Greg wants to marry Pam. Just as he s...

Pros: Robert DeNiro, Ben Stiller
Cons: Predictable, other actors used ineffectively
Meet The Parents is a comedy that plays strictly for laughs. The movie is also primarily a showcase for its stars, Robert DeNiro and Ben Stiller. I can't imagine a real-life situation where two men would have stood for each other's actions for an entire weekend, as they did here, but these actors clearly understand the broad strokes of the film, and have fun with them. Stiller stars as Greg Focker, a nurse at a New York hospital who's trying to find the right moment to ask his longtime girlfriend, Pam Byrnes (Teri Polo) to marry him. Greg had a plan to propose to Pam before a weekend trip to..

At Least I Never Had To Take A Lie Detector Test!

Pros: Witty, creative script; great acting
Cons: None
Wow I thought I was nervous the first time I met my now-wife s parents. Shows what I know. Meet the Parents is a thoroughly enjoyable film that should keep you laughing virtually from beginning to end that is, when you re not wincing in sympathetic pain for the torture poor Ben Stiller endures, which makes the embarrassments of There s Something About Mary (stuck zippers, hair gel and a fishhook to the cheek) seem like a walk in the park by comparison. In Parents, Stiller plays Greg, a male nurse in a Chicago hospital. Greg has just about everything going for him: he seems to be well-liked by.
