Meet the Fockers Follows up Meet the Parents Nicely

For starters, Meet the Parents was one the great comedies of the past 10 years and was hilarious because it was unbearably uncomfortable at times. I laughed so hard when I first saw it in the theaters that I was driven to buy the DVD... I've since watched it so many times that I've knocked the funniness out of it (unfortunately) and I looked to Meet the Fockers to rekindle that Ben Stiller / awkward humor. And you know what? This sequel did! Meet the Fockers is true to the first movie - same cast, same plot, same humor, nothing over the top. And it worked. The entire audience was hysterical for 90 minutes.

Barbara Streisand and Dustin Hoffman are fantastic as Ben Stiller's parents (the Fockers). Streisand is especially funny and nutty and Hoffman plays a completely bizarre, emotional character. I would have given Meet the Fockers 5/5 rating except for one scene (I won't reveal, but its about 80% of the way through) that really irked me (way over the top). Other than those 5 minutes - Meet the Fockers was totally fun.

Producer: Jane Rosenthal, Jay Roach, Robert De Niro
Cast: Barbra Streisand, Ben Stiller, Blythe Danner, Dustin Hoffman, Robert De Niro, Teri Polo

Great Meet the Fockers quotes:
Jack Byrnes: I'm not so sure this wedding is such a good idea. I don't like what I'm seeing from these Fockers.

Isabel: He is a handsome little Focker!
Jack Byrnes: He's not a Focker.

Greg Focker: Look, Little Jack was crying so I picked him up and gave him some hugs. Then I went into the kitchen to answer the phone and when I came back, he had let himself out of the playpen, put on Scarface and glued his hands to the rum bottle. Ok?

Roz Focker: Tell me, what's going on with that man of yours?
Dina Byrnes: Well, Jack's always been a little wound up. His job is very stressful.
Roz Focker: Being a florist is stressful?
Dina Byrnes: There's more to it than people think.

Dina Byrnes: Bernie, this frittata is wonderful, what's in it?
Bernie Focker: Well, a lot of the taste comes from this old skillet. I've never washed it.

Meet The Fockers~Now On DVD: Get Ready For Rockin, Fockin Fun !

Pros:
A laugh a minute

Cons:
None that I can think of

There are times when you need a good laugh...For those moments I d like to prescribe this movie, Meet The Fockers. I have to say here and now that though I enjoyed the first in this series, Meet The Parents my laugh meter did not go off the charts as it did in this sequel. I loved this movie for more than just one reason for there are many. First and foremost was the cast. Each actor played their part to the hilt without going overboard How can you go wrong with Barbra Streisand, Dustin Hoffman, Robert De Niro, Blythe Danner and Ben Stiller in the key role, Greg (Gaylord) Focker? Even the...

Meet the Fockers - Sex Therapy From Barbra Streisand
Review created: 12/30/04
by: dragonfire88-- a member of Epinions and Advisor in Movies

Pros:
Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand as the Fockers. Funny and entertaining.

Cons:
Crude humor in places.

Robert De Niro has made many movies during his career. He made a reputation for being a dramatic actor, and then in 1999, he made a comedy, Analyze This. That movie was very successful, leading to a sequel and other roles in comedy movies like Meet the Parents and Showtime. Many people went to see Meet the Parents, so there was talk of a sequel almost immediately. It took four years, but the sequel, Meet the Fockers, was finally released. In discussing Meet the Fockers, I will mention some things that happened in Meet the Parents that would be spoilers for that movie. Read at your own risk if.

  Meet The Fockers (2004)
Review created: 01/10/05

Pros:
Funny, true to the original

Cons:
Same old cardboard cut-outs, derivative sex humor.

Here it is, the meeting we've all been waiting for. I sure hope you've taken the time to refresh your memory on the first movie, 'cause you'll be facing off with the mother of all deja vu. Okay, I just wanted to make sure you're ready. We saw a heaping spoonful of bad luck smothered upon our buddy Gregory Focker when he attempted to woo the parents of his fiancee Pam. But this adventure begins on the complete opposite foot, with Greg and Pam finding nothing but good luck all the way to the Byrnes' place. From there, Jack takes them aboard his ridiculously monstrous black motor home, and they..

Meet the Fockers - a focking sex show - but funny
Review created: 12/29/04
by: CyndiA -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Solid actors. Some funny stunts.

Cons:
Plot was sexed up to extreme. Cutsie baby tossed in.

Meet the Fockers opens with Gaylord Focker delivering a baby. If you have not been very graphic with your kids about childbirth, then you will not have to tell them much after the opening of the movie. In fact, the 13 plus set (this is a PG-13) will get quite a sex education by watching the film. From the dog humping the cat to Bernie Focker licking whipped cream off the breasts of his wife, this is quite a free love romp. Meet the Fockers is the follow up to Meet the Parents (2000). Greg (Gaylord) met the parents of the girlfriend, Jack and Dina Byrnes, in the first movie. Now, both sets of..
