I have watched this movie many times on TV and wanted to have it for myself. This movie is like watching a Tragedy Play. It starts out with a smile on your face then disaster hits- then something good happens and again another disaster. I love the way the main characters really get into everything that is happening and with the family. This is a tear Jerker in the end and everything is all well and good again. She may have lost her father but she found someone to fill that void who would be good to her and be there for her.

This was a great movie and obviously what got me interested in it was the fact that it was a Brad Pitt movie. My husband also liked it, but for totally different reasons.....I hope:)

I already knew the story. Had a copy once but after a breakup of 31 years, I lost control of most of the movies, and this was one. I've always liked the story and wanted to have it for my own collection. I buy mostly videos because my TV is an older one so it's not widescreen. Have a dvd player also, but most of the movies only come in widescreen. Don't like the way they look as I dislike that black line above and below the picture. I think "Meet Joe Black" is a good story and I love the end. Just what a person likes to see........

As for the shape of the video it was brand new, just as advertised so I couldn't be more pleased.

Also I have a business with MARKET AMERICA. Ebay has come on board with us and when I bid on something I get points which eventually come back to me as checks. Can't beat that. I buy what I want and get paid for it too !!!!!!! That is the reason I first started going to ebay.

Hope this helps a bit.

Meet Joe Black ~ Take A Buddy To The Movies W/O
Review created: 05/23/03

Pros:
Everything

Cons:
not a damn thing

Meet Joe Black has gotten pretty much panned. It even sits at a 3 star over-all rating here on Epinions as I type this review. Why? I've just watched it again and I gotta say it just keeps getting better and better with each viewing. I love this movie! I can't believe you people. I come for you, and you want to stay, I let you stay and you want to go. What you have here is a story about DEATH. Not about dying per se, but about DEATH himself. Ya see, DEATH wants to know what it means to experience life. He's supposed to be claiming a corporate big wig, but decides to make a deal instead. If...

Pros:
some of the acting is semi-good

Cons:
the rest of the acting is atrocious, awful writing and directing, excruciatingly long runtime

Bad movies suck. An obvious, but true, statement. It's bad enough when I watch a bad movie of my own free will, but it's worse when someone else forces me to watch a movie I avoided for years because I knew it would suck. Now I like Brad Pitt, so I was pleased when my roommates, who are quickly becoming notorious for their atrocious taste in movies, suggested a Brad Pitt movie. I hoped for something like Se7en or Fight Club. Unfortunately, that was not happening, and we settled in to watch 1998's bomb Meet Joe Black. In this film, we get to meet Death himself, played by Brad Pitt. Death comes.

Pitt and Hopkins

Cons:
None at all

This review is part of the "Clich Soir e Write-Off" hosted by mind-full to celebrate her 2-year anniversary with Epinions. Read on for more clich phrases, and take a look at the other Epinions' talent who have thrown their hats into the write-off ring!   I Met Joe Black for the Take a Buddy to the Movies W/O~

Pros:
Anthony Hopkins is beautiful

Cons:
it's almost as long as Titanic...

I don t know why people hate this movie. I have actually admitted to real life persons that I have seen this movie, in its entirety and I get a mixture of facial expressions that mostly remind me of a cross between smelling a case of mothballs and bitter beer face. (Not a pretty combination, rest assured.) I ve seen it twice now and I think it s pretty good for what it is about (as many have stated, including my pal Drdevience, it s the death takes a holiday concept.) I almost hated it too, but then something happened and I plugged on past the first twenty-five minutes and now I think it s...

I Didn't Think I Would Like It, But I Was Wrong!

Pros:
Awesome talent, great story.

Cons:
Slow at times

This would not have been the type of movie I would have pulled off the shelf in the video store, and brought home to watch. I had looked at it in the rental store, read the box, and put it back more than once. It just did not seem to grab me from the description written on the box. But after it had been available for over a year or so, my wife went to the video store, read the box, and brought it home. She watched it alone, because she knew I did not seem interested in it. She liked it so much, that for her upcoming birthday, and she was thrilled to death. We owned that movie for over a year,.
