The ETX125 is the Best Telescope there is. Boy does that open it up for complaints.OK here is why. I have Owned the Meade 12inch SCT I had every goody in the WORLD for it. My problem was I did not have a Dome to keep it in. With the ETX125 I do not have to keep it in a dome. It is in the Corner all set up ready to go at a moments notice. Last week I woke up at 4AM. My back was killing me. I stepped out side as it was quite warm and seemed very nice. Looking out toward the East I could see Venus in the early Morning light. It took but a moment to grab the ETX and set it up to be able to see the phases of Venus. I also took a long look at the area of Orion's Sword and Belt. That has some of the best Messier objects there are. When My Spouse arose at 6 am I had already returned the Telescope to its corner ready to go out again if I wished it. Even though I was injured 17 years ago in a Motorcycle wreck I can still put this scope up and take it down again. To be able to view anything in the sky at the slightest Whim. Now to me that makes anything the best. I may not be able to do many things. Still I am able to view the heavens which is something everyone must be able to do. Remember Folks Keep Looking UP. Thanks dray
I got My first 125etxec at after working my way up the ranks from 60mm hand and manual through Meades,Ds ngc up to a 125 etx. Boy was I amazed with the help of 7 eyepieces 2 barlows some filters and great Software,as just to what was out there. The scope slewed and aligned an showed great novas and galaxies ..AND..live on T.v... Pure magic
So I bought some more - an 8" and ---- today a 12".. Maybe I'm smitten. No!
The etx-125ec is a great all around telescope. Mine has the UHTC coatings and the views are awesome. The gears work well and the tripod is sturdy. The electronic controller is easy to use. Mine came with the electronic focuser which works well. I have yet to try the autostar. Its a great value and will give me years of enjoyment. Theres also a lot of info about it on the web and accessories aren't too expensive. It easy to transport and set up too. Avoid cheap low grade telescopes and just get an etx-125ec, its well worth it.
I worked my up from ETX 60,70 passed over the 80 and got the 90 got a few accessories and for a month used the scope as often as I could. The views of the 90 were awesome and so good,I made a note to self to pass by the 105 and go directly for the jugular..and get the ETX 125.The jump to the 125 was great but not as I had expected, what I am saying; is it is worth the jump but what is your budget? If you want to look in our Solar System,or Star Clusters some Nebula or just star-hopping it will work for you,if you want to see Deep Space look at Hubble photos,or spend 10,000.00 or alot more for a 16 inch SCT.
