I personally found this movie to be as expected besides the bad language and rude humor. Cheap humor! This movie was purchased for my 4 children who are 2, 4, 6 and 11. As far as the PG rating, after only few minutes I panicked thinking I made a mistake about the rating of the movie. This movie was NOT PG material! I am not a prude and I am fairly liberal about what my children watch but I squirmed in my seat when viewing this movie. There were blatant references to adultery, gang banging, and sex that I did not think appropriate at all. There was also quite a bit of foul language. I don't know about you, but I am quite certain that a movie that has foul language that has and has not been dubbed over, should not have been rated PG - yet should be rated PG 13. Even my 11 year old knew that this was something that was a little off and caught onto the "jail" scene where one of the "inmates" has to be dubbed for stating something TOTALLY inappropriate to which they dub "in my bra".
During the blooper real - the "inmate" is dubbed more than 4 times for stating this. I mean for an 11 year old to notice this...if they wanted to have it rated PG - why didn't they just re-tape this portion and the others in this movie that little ones shouldn't be viewing. OR shoot for PG 13 and leave all of the vulgar language in there. I feel that this has nothing to do with the girls acting, but more on the people behind the movie and the people who rate movies such as this. This language was unexpected, extremely objectionable, and not appropriate in my opinion.
There are also 2 scenes where they show people including Haylie Duff smoking - although they state that it is gross - why not just eliminate all of the smoking? Young impressionable children do not need to see people who they look up to smoking - weather or not they state "that's gross".
I personally would have enjoyed the movie had we watched it without our children first and then decided this was NOT a movie for them. I truly like Hilary and Haylie Duff. I have watched 7th Heaven since day one and haven’t missed one episode, but this is just one movie that I feel should have been better rated!
My warning to all parents of children under 13, is to view the movie before to see if this is something that they should allow their children to view.
So. It's Duff in another movie. Well, make that two duffs: Hilary and sister Haylie. I can assure you that the movie is a funny and sweet one--as all other Duff flicks are. If you're a fan, check it out. Duff doesn't stretch her acting muscle too much here, but it's a funny and predictable film nonetheless.
This is something that young ladies will like. It is like watching the Disney Channel for and hour and a half. Don't go looking for any Academy Awards, but you can look for a few laughs and to see you daughters smile.
Not funny. Poorly written. The high point was when the assistant slapped someone in the face with a clip board. Very disappointing. I think the movie encourages the wrong things. Such as cosmetic surgery. At one point Hillary Duff's character tells the assistant that her nose looked like hers and the assistant states thats what i was going for. Why is something like that even needed in a movie that should encourage and motivate our younger population.
This movie is not a must see or a must buy. It is a must avoid.
This movie captures the notion "I am rich one day and poor and humble the next." It has everything a young girl will want to see because she thinks that she is seeing into the Duff girls life. There may be scenes that are questionable to some parents but there is no graphic sex, nudity or drugs. If you have encased your child into a bubble do not watch it. Otherwise for todays standards this is a reltively tame easy going movie.
I found the movie to be quite predictable as to all the other teen girl movies out there. My step daughter who is 16 loved it of coarse, but she loves anything that is "new" out. Definitely find it to be more of a teenage girl movie not a grown women movie.
Another bad movie where you don't know who the bad guy is but you know that there is a bad guy. And when you find out who it is, believe me it is not that surprising.
I don't believe that this was an original storyline by any means. I wonder how many movies the director and the Duff's had to watch to make this story line unoriginal.
Very disappointed. Hilary Duff should have stayed as Lizzy McGuire and a singer, and as for Haylee - I believe that she is a good actress but the two do not belong in a movie together, they might be sisters but they have an different chemistry on screen that does portray differently.
I don't suggest buying this movie at all. I suggest renting it, watching it, and figuring out if you would every want to watch it more than the once.
I like Hilary Duff but was disappointed in this film. It played like a low budget TV movie. I liked the idea of the movie but the dialogue was simple-minded and shallow. There's nothing really good about this film. Even the fashion was pretty bad. Devil wears Prada was better. Hilary's other movies are much better than this one. I don't know why a good actress like Anjelica Houston is even in this film. I hope Hilary Duff gets better roles that actually use her acting abilities. I wish I didn't buy this on dvd.
This is probably one of Hilary's best movies...aside from "A Cinderella Story." It's funny, cute, totally sweet and something your pre-teen/teenage daughter will love. It's your typical Hilary Duff movie. Everyone I know that has seen it LOVES it!!!!!!!! :-)
