I took almost 3 weeks to receive the CD. Other than that, everything was fine. For the price I paid for the CD it was in good condition and plays fine.
If you are a Mary J. Blige or R&B fan, this is a must have cd and a classic album you should have. There is nothing bad I can say! From start to finish it's a good listen. MARY IS QUEEN, Don't sleep on this one!

Now That We're All On A First-Name Basis: Lets Talk About "Mary"

Pros: Mary's most mature set to date, smooth and vibe-y.
Cons: Serious inconsistencies in song quality.
With three successful albums under her Gucci belt (four, if you count the remix album), Mary J. Blige was already an established superstar by 1999. Mining the middle ground between the rough-edged rhythms of hip-hop and the smooth sounds of soul, she'd risen to the top of her genre. If any time was ripe for experimentation, it was then. Not that "Mary", the album, was a sonic exploration along the lines of Prince's "Around The World In A Day" or Stevie's "Journey Through The Secret Life of Plants". But on her fourth studio effort, Blige decided to explore a more mature, nuanced sound. Unlike..

Mary at her best - a truly defining moment for Mary

Pros: Mary's lyrical honesty gives the album a more personal feel, strong production, brilliant songs
Cons: Give Me You, Heavy reliance on samples to make the album work
Mary J Blige as an artist has been quite consistent, if not better with each release. '411' was right for its time, although I find it hard to listen to 'My Life', in fact I find it incredibly dull and repetitive. 'Share My World', Mary's first #1 album and best selling was very listenable yet it lacked the personal element in her songs which Mary had always delivered - it sounded too polished, too slick and definitely moved away from her previous gritty hip hoppy sound into more r

Deep inside I wish that you could see, that I'm just plain ol' Mary

Pros: Mary's vocals still hit hard...
Cons: ...she didn't pack enough punches.
Mary J Blige returned with her fourth effort in 1999 shedding her drama-laden image. Akin to her previous albums, love is a theme that runs fervently throughout the record but her growth and maturity indicate a huge difference. The subject matter is more varied than "My Life" as is shown on the song of unrequited love "Sexy." She uses her upper register to create an atmospheric sound and even an unnecessary appearance from Jadakiss can t disturb the easy groove. However, Mary strives for an R

Plain ol' "Mary" is beautiful!!

Pros: The best production of her career yet
Cons: Minor flaws
To be honest, I bought the bootleg copy first, just to see if it was really worth it, because I have been disappointed by her last two albums. I had to get the real thing, because she really came up! On "Mary," she takes a different direction than she's gone before musically, steering less towards the Hip-Hop loops that bombard the radio,"karaoke-remakes" that she's done before. This time she incorporates live bands at times, and lyrical depth that has been lacking in much of today's music. The lead track, the Lauryn Hill- produced "All That I Can Say," is a beautiful, danceable track about...
