The game is ok. Takes a bit to get use to. For those that don't get golf it might take a bit longer to understand what clubs to use for certain distances and it gets frustrating. Other than that its a pretty good game.

Mario Golf for Game Boy Color

I had just picked up a Game Boy Color and wanted to find a game to play on it. So since I recently took up golf, I thought I would try this game. For a handheld game, I was impressed. It gives you wind to account for and overall a lot of game for the buck. The only weak point of the game I think is putting. They are hard to line up and get a feel for how hard to hit the ball. The games color is good and the sounds help in playing the game. Overall Mario Golf was well worth it.

I bought it for my grandson and never received the game
Review created: 02/03/07

I ordered it on behalf of my grandson and the game never arrived. The seller told me if it was lost in the mail, it was too bad and refused to refund the money to an 11 year old who had to work hard to get the money to buy it. The game itself might have been one that would have gotten a good review, but I guess I won't be able to find out.

  ADDICTIVE
Review created: 01/07/07

I got this game because there are 6 golfers that are on this game which transfer over to Mario Golf on Nintendo 64! So, I had no expectations. This game won me over with it's story line and the way it makes one learn golf. It teaches fades, chips, long drives and so on. Hours go past and I was still playing. I then transfered over the golfers to Mario Golf on 64 and won the 36 medals per golfer there!

My son love golf and Mario, so this game was a perfect fit. He loves playing the game and now wants a Mario Golf for another game system he has, but the game boy color one is perfect for long trips.

It's so addictive, it should be illegal.

Pros:
Gaining levels makes the game much more addictive, great course design.

Cons:
Some balancing problems, no random opponents.

Mario Golf was one of the biggest hits on the GameBoy platform last year. And with full justification, I may add. Mario Golf is nothing spectacular, yet it provides endless fun in its most simple, addictive form. In this game, you assume a role of a player you can customize. You can select whether the player is right- or left-handed, whether he is male of female, and decide on the name. The rest is up to your skill. You will collect experience points for every round of golf you play, as well as for several extra holes. For all those points, you will advance in levels and get the choice to...

  Better than golf

Pros:
On-going development of the players means each new round can be different.

Cons:
Putting is haaaaaard. More courses would be nice.

In keeping with my tendency to purchase a new Gameboy game before every flight I take of any length, so it was that I ended up with Mario Golf stuffed into my over-sized handbaggage as I left Rome, fuelled largely by gin-and-tonic, on a flight bound for New York. And I'm not bored yet; in fact, it's the most addictive Gameboy cartridge I've got. Other recent purchases remained in the bottom of my bag on both legs of the journey, where they served chiefly to break the fall of the bottles of duty free when I opened the overhead locker on arrival. As other reviews will tell you, it's a great...

And you thought Golf was boring

Pros:
Feels like the mario golf on ng4 in nearly everyway, except graphics and modes.

Cons:
mmmmm, I am too dumb, to think of any.

Just recently the video game intrustry has been getting many golf games, Hot shots golf for playstation, Mario Golf for Nintendo 64, and more and more. The best thing about these golf games is that they are fun! Mario golf was released for game boy color late last year, and if you think this game is "bad", well think again, my friend, think again. Graphics and sound- This game takes full advantage of game boy color, Though you might think that playing golf on game boy is just seeing grass and anything esle green. You forgot that this was made by nintendo, and all courses have there own unique.

Pros:
Realistic, FUN, crisp n' colorful graphics, addictive

Cons:
Sound leaves something to be desired, ADDICTIVE!

I received Mario Golf as a Christmas present in '99, just before we left for the three and a half hour drive to Mississippi. I am by no means a golf fan. In fact, I'm not really into the whole sports thing. I'll play the occasional game of NFL Blitz and even real football with friends every now and then, but NEVER golf. Especially not golf games. Why did I even ask for this game, then? I had just gotten a color game boy for my birthday (a month before X-mas), and needed a couple of games to fill the void. I saw a few reviews of the game, saying it isn't your ordinary golf game, so I decided...

The best handheld golf game ever!
Review created: 12/30/00
by: xeno3998 -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
very addictive

Cons:
nothing worth mentioning

Not since the days of Metroid have I seen a GB game that's this addictive. Let's forget about the fact that you can literally spend hundreds of hours playing to find this game's numerous secrets (there are tons according to a code genius friend of mine), let's forget that you only play as Mario when you beat him at his own game therefore this being a cheap lisense cash-in, let's remember the last time a golf game on ANY platform was this good. Still thinking? That's because there has never been a beter golfing experience on any console, and I've played a lot of them. Even the visually...
