Good, dumb, funny entertainment.

Having as successful a directorial debut as Clerks proved to be a double edged sword for Kevin Smith. On one hand, Clerks showed that with a very small amount of money, limited skills behind the camera, and some witty dialogue, you can have a hit movie. Unfortunately, it set a standard for Smith that everyone expected him to follow for all of his movies. I'm going to say that Mallrats is not my favorite Kevin Smith movie by any means; in fact, it's probably my least favorite (I haven't seen Jersey Girl yet, so that may change), but it does have its own charm about it.
