Pros:
Suspenseful movie with a great cast

Cons:
None for me

I like movies and I enjoy going to see them in the theater. I also enjoy renting them, on DVD now that I have a DVD player. My own collection of movies on DVD keeps growing. Lately because I ve been busy with some work related things, I haven t had a chance to go to the movies or even rent any for a while. I have still been watching some movies on television. I do prefer to see movies on DVD, or even VHS tape to being on television since the stations I get all edit the movie and have a million commercial breaks, but I still watch movies on television. Recently, I watched Malice again. I first.

  Harold Becker s Malice (1993)
Review created: 12/15/02

Pros:
Bancroft, Baldwin, Kidman and Pullman in that order. Music.

Cons:
Pacing at times.

This is a dark and somewhat twisted tale, that is good fun to watch. It is disturbing, and convoluted and well balanced, with a pretty good screenplay and some memorable dialog. It has wit and some charm, although it is at the same time deadly serious. Some bad things happen in this film and we are led up some diverting pathways before the truth is revealed. Since suspense is the name of the game here, I can t give you the fine details of the plot, bit I will tell you who the players are, and what their lives are at the start of the movie. Sound like a deal? FILM ELEMENTS DIRECTING Harold...

Malice - Some People Are Just Mean
Review created: 03/02/03
by: millinocket-- a member of Epinions and Lead in Movies

Pros:
Good performances, solid thriller elements

Cons:
Predictable

Once upon a time, Alec Baldwin s name appeared before Nicole Kidman s in the credits of a movie, even when the actual lead in the movie was Bill Pullman. In this case, once upon a time was 1993, and the movie was a thriller called Malice. Much has changed for these actors in that amount of time. Another interesting little tidbit here is that the screenwriting credits go to Scott Frank and one Aaron Sorkin, who certainly has made a household name of himself with his whip-smart dialogue on TV s The West Wing. It s fun to see a movie like this, not really old, but enough has changed since it was.

  In Wonderland
Review created: 03/29/02

Pros:
Bebe Neuwirth. Some moments from Alec Baldwin.

Cons:
Sloppy writing. Embarassing turns from George C. Scott and Anne Bancroft.

Madame Rose, my publicist, promised that there would be a band and floral tributes waiting when the Norwegian Star returned to its dock, marking the end of my comeback concert voyage. I had expected a little bit more than Lester Lewis's Kazoo Korale and the bouquet of wilted nasturtiums thrown at me by some demented four year old, but alas, that was all that was waiting for me at the foot of the Aloha Tower in Honolulu. There wasn't even a porter to help with all thirty-seven pieces of my Louis Vuitton - I shall really have to speak to my management. Anyway, I did eventually make it to the...

Pros:
good twists, fun performances

Cons:
couple of minor sections of dialogue

I am surprised to see myself type these words, but I enjoyed this film. I had instantly assumed when I first saw the preview that it would be another 2-hour piece of Hollywood schlock, but that it would at least have a good monologue about Alec Baldwin being god. So it was due to that, and a deep admiration of Bill Pullman that ZentropaJK (whom I am sure will write a far superior review) and I rented this film. I admit that the swapping of villain responsibility can, and does, get old. After the Usual Suspects it seemed to be the new wave of filmmaking and a load of films cropped up with...
