Tom Selleck in shorts - no shirt. Running, swimming, breathing. What's not to like? I think there is even plots to the stories.... I even had suspenders like TC's back in the day.....

The Quintesential 80's T.V. on DVD, Hours of happiness!
Review created: 01/07/08

The amount of entertainment per dollar is above most. The perfect gift for any couch potato, Magnum was one of the best shows of the 80's and is hard to find on broadcast television, so the DVD is pure gold! Even buying it used was a pleasant experience, being in perfect watching condition and no pesky shrink wrap to get in the way. I suggest this item to anyone even giving it the slightest thought.

Magnum P.I. - The Complete First Season (2004, DVD)

Picture and sound quality are great, menus are easy to navigate. DVD's are double-sided, otherwise you would have 7-8 DVD's in the set (and pay more for it).
If you are a big Magnum P.I. fan, you will want this set.

Magnum P.i. Dvd 1st season sold by cjets

Item falsely advertised by Seller. Item advertised as BRAND NEW. When I inspected item I found numerous scratch marks on disks indicating item was used or damaged. Seller stated item IS BRAND NEW as it is in shrink wrap, yet seller received item as gift and did not inspect item to see if actually BRAND NEW. I left neutral feedback to item, to which seller left me negative feedback, since he was left neutral feedback. Seller has been belligerent and claimed I was trying to defraud him although I NEVER REQUESTED ANY MONEY FROM HIM NOR DO I INTEND TO. Seller falsely claims item is NEW, but has never actually inspected item. Item itself, although used is quite viewable and I enjoy it. But, I did pay for a NEW item as it was advertised and feel justified in leaving neutral feedback. I paid for my item immediately and my end of the transaction was without incident. Seller cannot claim the same. Dealing with this seller has been very disfavorable.

  Magnum P.I. DVD
Review created: 06/05/07

While Magnum P.I. was a much loved show in the 80's and has many fans still today, it can be difficult to locate the series in a boxed set as most smaller retailers don't carry it in stock and the larger ones offer a back-ordering system that takes time and money. This boxed DVD set was easy to find, well under half the price of most retailers and arrived in a reasonable time frame.

  Magnum,pi the complete First Season

The first show I watched that seemed to my liking was Magnum,pi. Tom Selleck John Hillerman, Roger E. Mosley, Larry Manetti...later the stars would line up to be reconstructed on this show, as a sort of comeback special. Angela Lansbury had murder she wrote, Tom selleck appeared on her show and she on his. And then there was Simon and Simon the 2 season, where Tom selleck appeared on that show and they on his show.
The very first pilot show...every one would remember, the missing viet vet turned sniper. The show that is not released. Because of the questionable ethics that is shown.

This was the first tv private detective show that touched that small nerve on the back of the head. The crazed viet vet-was he really crazy? Or did he go crazy at home? This show really touched on the small tight spring that was still wound tightly in most of us.
Here was a tv show that spanned longer than most tv shows of it's type. out lasting the cbs movie special mcloud and colombo. Sea Hunt and the Blue Centurion. A new type of crime hero was emerging in our society and included landing in our living rooms, office buildings, bedrooms and front seats of cars. Crime fighters, who knew what they were doing. They were taking the initiative and fighting back. They were solving the missing persons, or taking back control of a fellow citizen.
Here we had 3-viet friends...Thomas Magnum, Rick (orville) wright and TC all from Viet Nam spoending their days in paradise.
In later episodes we learn more about John Hillerman the sgt maj domo...Johnathan Higgins...and his memoirs...and his confession in the season one that he is really Masters...and in the final show of magnum pi
Aloha, Magnum. we learn that Higgins says_ I lied. Where as he smiles.
All of these Magnum shows are classics. We will forever return to a simple time in our lives and recall every emotion and feeling from the day that we saw these shows.
Should we say thank you to Donald P. Belasario who directed the show or to the many stars who did their jobs, or the stars who were the regulars...the line is so long whom to thank first.

With TV shows now scheduled for viewing , my wife and I are not pleased with the content of the shows. For good TV that is appropriate to our liking I purchased Magnum P.I.- The Complete First Season (2004, DVD). Now when the TV listings do not have shows that we like, we watch our Magnum P.I. dvds. We can control our TV for excellent viewing, I will be looking for other Magnum dvds to add to our collection.

Magnum P. I., The first season

My company sponsored a Triathalon for it's employees on Oahu and part of the festivities was a luau at the Robin Master's estate where the series was primarily headquartered. I never had the opportunity to view many of the programs because of conflicting work schedules. Since I am now retired...time is not a problem and I can turn on an episode when the mood strikes me.

Pros:
The series was solid and well defined in the first season; nifty bonuses

Cons:
That terrible, terrible theme music that plagued the first season

I'm amazed there aren't a ton of reviews for this DVD set here at Epinions. Magnum, P.I. was one of the top shows of the 1980s, after all, and this set sells like crazy over at Amazon.com. You'd think Magnum, P.I. - The Complete First Season would attract more attention at Epinions. At any rate, I'll go ahead and set up the premise for the show for the five or six people out there who are unfamiliar with the show. The series stars Thomas Magnum (Tom Selleck), a former U.S. Navy Seal who runs around solving crimes with his Vietnam War buddies -- Theodore "T.C." Calvin (Roger E. Mosley), a...

  Every Guy's Dream Life
Review created: 10/13/04
by: skipcar -- a member of Epinions

Pros:
Great show. Every man's dream to live Magnum's life.

Cons:
Some picture freezing. Earlier shows contradict later seasons somewhat.

Okay...the concept was a bit far-fetched: A former decorated Navy Seal resigns from the military, impresses a famous novelist and is given free reign to live on the novelist's seashore estate in Hawaii. Yeah...it's a tough life. Did I mention that he also virtually has ownership of the novelist's Ferrari 308 GTS? Red, no less. Anyway, that is just the concept given to the viewer by Donald Bellisario and Glen Larson. The Characters Thomas Sullivan Magnum is the main character living the good life in Hawaii. He's a former Navy Seal turned private investigator (don't call him a 'private eye', if.
