I have owned a Tom Tom One and this Magellan 3000T. The ease of use on the Magellan is hands down better. I have had no problems with lost signals or locking up. The response time is very fast, miss a turn and within a couple of seconds the route is being re-routed. The menu bottoms are a good feature and they are well lit at night. I have upgraded to the latest version with my computer and it was easy and I experienced no problems. The screen is easy to see in almost all light conditions with very little if any glare. The accuracy is spot on to within a few feet. I would recommend the Magellan 3000T to anyone that asks. I was going to go with a Garmin but the price and feature were impossible to beat. The only small complaint or nit pick, might be the menu buttons are easily pressed while holding the unit in your hands, so care must be taken not to press a buttom. If you do press a button it does not harm anything, all you have to do is press the excape buttom and you are returned back to where you were. This is a great GPS, I have friends with other units and none of them can match the easy, accuracy and features the 3000T. I'm glad I went with it.

I took it out on trial to compare to the Garmin C550. The Roadmate is pretty good in navigation mode. I had very little trouble on the road. But, changing something on the road is almost impossibly complex.
It is not as intuitive as the Garmin. Also, the instructions leave much to be desired.
A tremendous advantage over the C550 was the Trip Planner. C550 only allows one intermediate stop. As far as I could tell, the Roadmate is limited only by memory available.
I also liked the auto switch to split screen (TrueView) when approaching a turn or major intersection. The Roadmate provides excellent guidance as to which side of the road you should be on for an impending turn. It also handled complex Interstate intersection navigation perfectly. The C550 has this feature; but not as clear and concise.
The C550 includes Bluetooth and traffic alerts with an initial subscription included. The Roadmate requires add on features to do that.
Things I didn't particularly like; but not big issues, were:
Voice guidance is good, but does not say street name. It shows on the screen; but that requires a glance away from the road. C550 does.
The enroute screen does not orient to the direction of travel. I could not get it off of North (even though I set to the direction of travel).
The Trip Planner optimizes from closest to farthest (and looks good). However, if you do a "round robin", you might want to go in reverse. For instance, I did 14 locations plus Home on one trip (I do compliance audits). I wanted to start with the farthest and work back toward Home to avoid rush hour traffic. Had to setup the trip manually to do that.
And finally, most of the Electronics stores will charge a restocking fee of 15% if you want to take it back. However, at least at the moment, Staples does not do that. Of course, they may change that in the future; and also, their selection isn't as robust as Best Buy or Circuit City, for instance. But it is a good way to try out different models. They didn't stock the Garmin in store (but they had it on the web). So, I had to resort to paying the restocking fee on the Garmin with Best Buy.

This model is heavy for windshield suction and slowly drops. Needs padded support. This model does not give vocal commands if you deviate from programmed route. It must be re-programmed from where you are and then follow exact route. It will resume vocal commands if you come back on the route.

Magellan RoadMate™ 3000TFor the price, this GPS is great. It's feature packed and easily useable without reading the manual. the mp3 function is nice and allows for several different playlists. One note though, you cannot navigate and listen to the mp3 player at the same time. The magellan website offers the latest firmware updates and a yearly map update. I do find that it is slow to power up, it takes about 2-3 minutes to become fully ready, but once it starts, its solid. It re-routes within seconds of missing a turn and I find it very accurate. The suction mount is very sturdy and I have had no problems adjusting the height and position.

I brought this unit because I was in need of one and ebay is one of the best places to shop for stuff like this and Magellan is a good brand the unit I brought was used slightly about 6 mos. I was told, it came with all instructions and cd's and in like new condition , it works great and I have no complaints, its very easy to use, it may not be the best but for the price I paid its better than nothing, if you need a reasonable GPS I would check out the Magellan Roadmate 3000T mine was a refurbish unit and it has helped me alot I would buy another if needed.

Great price for a Magellan 30007 GPSThe price was right the magellan Road mate 3000T car GPS receiver sells much more $$. The bad part was that I had to buy the accessories to attach to the window. The unit works great and is easy to find your way to your destination.
The graphics are clear and sharp.also the voice lound and clear.

Megellan RoadMate 3000T GPSI bought this GPS for my wife. My wife is a mail rural mail carrier. This GPS can find a address and direct her right to the front door. This GPS is easy to use, simple to follow. Purchased from a trusted seller.

i love it since i sucks at memorizing streets.and my last gps is just as bad as my brain, so decided to buy this one. when i bought it, the batt cannot be recharged, but i fixed it right away(it wasnt a big deal). overall its good gps.

didnt work after 2 days traffic never work the ser # you couldn t read contacted the seller they responded was no help didnt have a receipt didnt know when they bought it.had to send in to magellan for repairs it was a good thing i bought a warrenty.so over all not a good purchase.

when i first got it I had to buy a charger . so i went got the charger and fully charged it when i did I could type in an address and it will stay on the same screen when i started to drive . Not only that some times i couldnt even get it to turn on . sorry It took me so long to write a review but I my self do not own a computer so was not able to get to one until now. I thought that there was nothing i could do about it not working right until i talk to a friend and he said that i could write a review .

Well the main and whole purpose of me shopping on EBAY is the prices!!
But what drew me to this particular item was the features and the quality.
I really like the idea that this item has a touch screen and also buttons
for the same operations. The touchscreen simply isin't reliable enough for me
to have full faith in as I'v heard bad things about the functionality of
some touch screens (not all).

I really like the gps I purchased. My only dislike about it is that it did not come with very clear instructions on how to setup the unit. It was confusing to me and I began to think I had purchased something other than a gps.

Magellan 3000 Portable GPSThis item works great, it was pretty easy to understand the directions and it was straight forward. The only drawback, based on some newer models that are out now, is that it is a little bulky. Other than that, it works great.

Magellan RoadMate 3000T GPSI am an artist who travels throughtout the US to art/craft fairs to market my jewelry. Finding locations, hotels and eating places in strange cities has always been a hassle, with a zillion wrong turns and backtracks. I purchased a GPS to make things a tad easier. The Magellan RoadMate 3000T is all that I need. It has already routed me around a traffic backup due to an accident on an interstate, led me on new routes not given on mapquest and made my life simpler. I have no other GPS experience to judge by, but I like this one. Once you get accustomed to its use, entering destinations and getting routed is simple and straighforward. I would recommend it to anyone who needs simple traffic routing and easy directions.
