Book Description:
The first in-depth portrait of one of the world's best-known luxury brands, this elegant volume traces the remarkable history of the House of Vuitton, which has been making practical but stylish luggage, handbags, and accessories for more than 150 years. Written with full access to the company's archives, the book itself demonstrates Louis Vuitton's passion for fine design in a stunning array of archival art, historical images, product designs and sketches, and cutting-edge advertising.

Author Paul-Gerard Pasols, former communications director and longtime consultant to Louis Vuitton, explores the company's tradition of quality and innovation in the context of sweeping changes in society, art, culture, fashion, and, above all, travel. Examining the life and times of the company's first three leaders-founder Louis (who invented the modern trunk), his son Georges, and his grandson Gaston-the text focuses on the firm's development under their guidance. It also discusses Vuitton's explosive growth toward the end of the 20th century, including the 1987 merger with Moët-Hennessy that made it part of LVMH, the world's largest luxury goods company, and spurred the expansion of its boutiques to more than 300 locations in 50 countries around the globe.

I wanted to buy this book because I have several Louis Vuitton bags and have also liked the brand for years. While the book was nice, it unfortunately was not what I expected and the seller agreed to refund my money.

Wonderful and Interesting history book about LV

The book is a great one about the history of Louis Vuitton. It has alot of photo's of the Vuitton families and how the company got started. Since I only carry authentic Louis Vuitton handbags or other articles and support the company for turning in counterfeit items, I wanted this book to read because I was curious about the company. I knew a few things already, but not as much as the book gave me. I had asked for the book for Christmas from my husband but by the time he shopped all stores were out of the book. Afterward people who had bought them started selling them for horrible high prices. Even now in May, people on e-bay or amazon.com are charging $500 or more for the book that originally cost $125. It's ridiculous, and only gives counterfeit sellers/makers more reason to push their counterfeit and the money they make goes to bad people. LV spends billions to stop it around the world. In fact when women carry fakes in Europe, they are charged fee's and put in jail instantly. That should happen in America.
