I bought the book because I had a dear, dear friend with the beginning stages of Alzheimers. A friend who was always there, even when you didn't know you needed him, irreplacable friends don't grow on trees and I wanted to understand what he was suffering, his feelings, and what I could expect each day. Hopefully I made his journey just a little easier by understanding his pain, his anger, and helping him with things he couldn't remember. This book turned out to be a step-by-step tour guide to one of the least understood diseases known to man. An excellent book that could have only been written by someone making the journey. I loved it.
I have enjoyed reading this book ever since I read the first page. I love books that are autobiographies. The author makes you feel his emotions and sense his feelings. He gives a wonderful account of how Alzheimer's affected him and his family in a honest, sincere way. I bought the book thinking I might be a sufferer of the disease. I wanted to hear it from the horse's mouth and not a lot of technical terms. I would recommend highly.
