I am happy I bought this book. It is a great book. I enjoy reading it. I just love Valerie Bertinelli. I grew up watching her on her sitcom, One Day At A Time. She is a remakeable lady.
The book is great! It's down to earth, honest and inspirational! I just received it in the mail and I've read most of it. I can't wait to finish it. I didn't realize Valerie had a rough time growing up, like US! It's a great book and I highly recommend buying it!!!!!
I enjoyed this story. Valerie told alot more about herself than I had known, so it was an interesting read. She told it in a comical way also, so it was hard to stop reading. A very good book!!!
i was interested in how she made such a miraculous comeback after going and doing all she had done....wanting to find out where she found the will-power to change herself to become better than before.....................
I bought this book not for the weight loss aspect of it, but rather the groupie mentality. Valerie Bertinelli has in the past been so quiet about her relationship with Eddie Van Halen in spite of the tabloid frenzied reports of infidelity and drug use rampant throughout their relationship. The book, although not written scholarly, was very candid about their extra-marital woes, his (and her) drug use during their marriage, and the feelings of inadequacy, self-doubt, loathing leading Valerie to overeat and seek out attention and love elsewhere. She shares her very personal struggles to people please, be a good mom, a supportive wife and a public persona all the while and gives readers an inside look at her acting struggles and struggles to maintain a positive home for her son and failures to help her husband. It's a happy ending and a good book, and in spite of being the Jenny Craig spokeperson, refrains from being too preachy about the weightloss centre.
I bought it because I liked Valerie on the series and find it interesting to have a look at the behind the scenes of celebrities. Definitely changed my opinion on the type of person I thought she was but the book was written with honesty and I like that.
I bought this book after seeing Valerie on the Oprah Show and just hearing little bits about the book. It made me want to hear more about her life and how she handled being married to a rock star. The book was very interesting and kept your attention. I read it it in two days. I think she has really grown alot and is handling life alot better than when she was young and on One Day At A Time.
I found the book to be captivating from page 1- Being a person who has lost almost 60 pounds in the near past, I find weight loss stories very interesting. I myself am now in the 140's (between sizes 8 & 10) and the same height as Valerie. I ended up finishing this book feeling like I must still be a fat cow who needs to lose another 20 pounds or more.
Valerie is honest and down to earth in telling her story. She tells the good and bad and lets us know she is a real person just like we are. A very inspirational book.
I just LOVED this book. I received the book opened it the next day and was not able to put it down. I could relate to some of her insecuritys that she faced in her life. Growing up in that era and seeing her on TV you would look at her one way, now reading her book and realizing that her life wasnt all glitz and glamour. She was a real person. This honestly was fabulous. She did a wonderful job. I couldnt be more pleased and I would HIGHLY recommend this book. You wont be disappointed, nor will you be able to put it down! 5*****
I wanted this book fast and I didn't get that...I could have bought this from 100 others and would've gotten it quicker. They advertised UPS 2 day AIR...not true...took a total of 9 days to get to me...I emailed them 3 times with no answer. At least the book is new. BEWARE
I haven't gotten through the whole book yet. Valerie & I are about the same age and I grew up watching her on One Day at a Time. I can relate to some things about her self-image, growing up, and falling for the "bad boy" type of man. However, I was a bit disappointed to find out that she was like so many other young actresses who start having sex before they are old enough to be in any kind of committed relationship. She borrowed some heartaches for sure. But, it sounds like she learned from her mistakes. I think it's worth reading if you grew up in the 70's like I did.
I identified with her as a mother, but the stories were not as steamy as you might think. I'm happy for her now but do not agree with her decision NOT to ask for alimony or Child Support that's just STUPID, sorry Valerie.
I'm really enjoying reading this book about Valerie Bertinelli's life. I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys biographies. I was interested in this book especially to read not only about her life but about her recent weight loss.
I could totally relate to Valerie with her eating habits. Stressful eating. Happy eating.... Not being in control of food.
She writes like she is having an intimate conversation with you. The book flows so smoothly. I was hooked right away. I had a hard time putting the book down. I finished it in one day. I never get a chance to do that anymore, due to having a 5 year old and a 3 year old!!!
This was the worst book I have ever read. I bought it, as I have ALWAYS loved Valerie. I wanted to be her and live her life!!
Then I read the book. She is a very self-absorbed spoiled brat. She only tried to loose weight for her job and public appearance. She does not say that she wanted to be healthy just that she was getting work at 120 lbs and since the jobs dried up she needed to get back to 120. She never waited to see if she could keep the weight off before writing the book. She lost weight because the whole world was watching her, Jenny was paying her, and she was on the program for free and had help. Anyone can do that.
It also bothered me that her self-esteem was tied into the men she was sleeping around with and I don’t want my daughter knowing that. She is a very poor role model.
This book is a quick read and interesting, but really just a tell all. Does she really need to air the dirty laundry? Does "Wolfie" need to know about all the dirt in his parent's relationship? Basically this book just tells us about Valerie's emotional and psychological insecurities....kind of WOW WHO CARES? Almost everyone who's been through a divorce could write a book! She never delves deep enough into any one subject matter to have an impact. The book is somewhat scattered, as if she couldn't get her thoughts together to write in sequence, and sometimes repeats the same thoughts over and over.
i liked the book once i started to read it becuz it was very straightforward and not at all phony, this book can relate to anybody that has ever been in a relationship, friendship or otherwise. a lot of humor and everyday thoughts that do run through a busy woman's mind at any given time. i would definitely recommend this book to any woman, friend or man!!! even if it is just to learn how to communicate or reason with your partner before things really do get bad. very easy read and i loved it! goes to show you all that what takes place behind closed doors isnt always what it seems, whether you're famous or not!!!
Great Book well done. It was great reading and I really enjoyed it.It is enjoyable reading ab out her life and her weight loss problems and how she conquered her issues.
I really enjoy reading about people and since I have struggled with my weight most of my adult life, I decided to read it. I found myself being encouraged by her story and found it hard to put down. I only read when I am on vacation and we took a 4 day skiing trip and I read it in 3 days. She has an inspiring story to tell and if you are our generation (I am 37) I enjoyed hearing about her life with Eddie Van Halen. I would recommend it. Christy
The book arrived in excellent condition in a timely fashion. I enjoyed every bit of it, and finished it in about 3 days. I would definitely recommend the book!
