The story line is a typical action movie with obvious intent of just creating another fast, action-packed, gun-fighting movie. Cage of course is a great actor and does a good job in his part. The movie is a little long and full of strong language. There is an underlying message that guns are bad which is kinda cheesy but I guess the message is true.
Nicholas Cage plays a man who is looking for his destiny in life which just happens to be guns. Bringing his younger brother also into this life they seek what a lot of people want, power and money. Cage plays this part perfectly like it was made just for him. You also get a interesting look into something you might not have seen before. The ending was great and perfect. My husband and me both enjoyed this movie greatly and would recommend it to just about any one. If you don't like guns, stay far away from this movie.
This was a gritty ,fantastic movie with great acting and excellent character development. As the film progressed you became more and more emotionally vested in what was happening or going to happen. The ensuing tension only made the film more captivating, showing the cause and effect of gun sales in different countries and for different cultures. Highly recommended movie.
I enjoyed the movie, I bought it-since it was such a discounted price. Fast Shipping. I dont know why I need to enter a 100 characters for my review, but I hope I've hit 100 now!
Gun running, what a strange subject to make into a movie. Nickolas Cage really helps pull it off. It doesn't seem like any punches were pulled, everything I've seen or heard about gun running is in the movie. Ethan Hawk does a great job in his role as the Interpol agent.
Once again, who doesnt like Nicolas Cage? This is an awomse movie, with a great intense story, and it has the BEST intro to a movie that I have ever seen. Worth to rent or buy. Very good movie.
The personal story line of the characters is so so! The overall plot is good. The message is AWESOME! Some recent history and the sorry plight of man on this planet. Nicholas Cage is great as usual. Bridget Moynahan in my opinion was too weak to play along side Cage. Annette Bening would have been a better choice. As Uri Orlov stated: The Russian Kalashnikov AK-47 Assault Rifle is so easy to use that even a child can use it.....and many do. That says it all. The is an action movie from beginning to end, and does what it is supposed to do for the viewer, however it also has a great message. I give five very very big stars to this movie that one would watch over and over. Of course, I have learned that I am only one person, and everyone is quite different.
This movie was shipped very fast. I purchased for my son for Christmas. He loves the movie & wanted one for his own. Of course the place I chose to look was Ebay. AS always, I found exactly what I was looking for at a reasonable price. Thanks Ebay!
I'd seen the trailer but failed to make it to movies to see this film. When I saw it was being shown on TV, I jumped at the chance to watch it!
This film is thoroughly enjoyable and has a different take on the world of dealing in weapons. Although he's not represented as a hero, Nicholas Cage's character is portrayed as someone doing a service, or his 'job'. I felt it sent a mixed message in that it went some way to glorifying his job, but it highlighted the dangers at the same time.
I bought "Lord Of War", and I'm glad I did. I bought this movie primarily because I am a huge Jared Leto Fan. I am also a big fan of Nickolas Cage, and Ethan Hawk who also are brilliant actors. What I like about it is the two brothers are on very close, and are immigrants along with their parents from Russia. The parents came to the USA to make a better life, and an honest living in the Restaurant Business, and to raise their sons in a free country. Now it gets not so nice- Little do they know that their eldest is a master mind and becomes a major arms dealer across the globe. The other son (Jared Leto) the younger of the two, is basically a good guy but a major screw up. Into drugs and alcohol, but he eventually gets his act together after hitting the skids. Taken care of by his older brother (Nick Cage) who he is also into the arms dealing and becomes the "Lord Of War" or better known in the US as "War Lord." This is a great movie and I don't want to give too much away at all.
What I don't like is, Jared Leto's character gets killed while he is trying to put an end to a major deal. He doesn't agree with what they are doing and sacrifices his life to try and destroy 2 truck loads of bombs and granades. He succeeds. This is sadly a very true story that is still going on today. The hardest thing I had to discover is the US is the leader of the world on arms dealing. It's very scary to know WHY the US is considered the "Super Power" of the world today. And I always thought it was because we had a strong government. Yeah right!
This movie has a great story line, but it is not for children by any means, and it's a good lesson just how corrupt this country is.
It will open your eyes as to why so many hate Americans. This story should be seen by all who are of age to get out and vote...
A well acted, based on true events movie detailing the life of an illegal arms dealer during the 1980's. Nicholas Cage plays the arms dealer with Ethan Hawke as the U.S. Agent trying to bring him down. Great plot, great acting, great locations, definately worth watching once or twice.
Good movie - reflects how life is in other countries and shows how much different life is in this country compared to the former East Block countries. Great ending
I really liked this movie when I first saw it and just had to have it for my collection! Nicholas Cage and Jared Leto are so good on this movie! I can watch it over and over! There is nothing about this movie I didn't like! A+++++
This movie was like a documentary on a gun runner and the behind the close door on the illegal gun trade. Cage with his off the wall humor does a great job on acting as this real to life gun runner. After watching this movie, it really hits home on where the common criminal gets there weapons especially the automatic ones. Its a keeper
Lord of War is absolutely action packed. A great story line with great acting makes this movie one of the best for 2006. A must see for action movie lovers.
Big fan of Nick Cage. Seller offered a great price. Came quickly in the mail. Enjoyed the movie. But, a little depressing. I'd buy from seller again any time. JPM
The most important rule of gun-running is: Never get shot with your own merchandise. An arm dealer (Nicholas Cage) confronts the morality of his work as he being chased by Interpol agent (Ethan Hawke). This movie charts the rise and fall of Yuri Orlov, from his early days in the early 1980s in Little Odessa, selling guns to mobsters in his local neighborhood, through to his ascension through the decade of excess and indulgence into the early 90s,where he forms a business partnership with an African warlord and his psychotic son.The movie also charts his relationship through the years with his younger brother, his marriage to a famous model, his relentless pursuit by a determined federal agent and his inner demons that sway between his drive for success and the immorality of what he does.
Not too bad. Nicholas Cage does a fne job in this film, in which he plays a gun runner. The story is interesting, and the characters are all nicely done. Makes it look a little too easy to get into the gun running business, but it does what it set out to do.
Nick Cage is an international arms dealer hiding his life from his wife. When things get shaky, he turns it up delivers a hit! Thanks for reading my opinion, and if you'ld like to check out my store, I am permitted by ebay to provide you a link here: http://stores.ebay.com/SellsEveryTime
Not a typical Nick Cage movie. Although well acted , very slow and not much action. If you want to watch a movie to tell you guns are dangerous, then here is your movie. I'm not into the political movies , i just want to be entertained, and this movie doesn't do it.
I thought this was a really cool movie. This guy and his brother sell guns all over the world. A relentless customs agent pursues them. They have their ups they have their downs. But that’s life when you sell thousands of guns a year to people like Liberian dictator Andre Baptiste and his rather crazy son.
