Great album for a girls-only road trip! Some compare Jann Arden to Sarah McLachlan, but I would add that she's also a touch Tori Amos. Powerful (90s for sure) rock, great for reminiscing and singing out loud (alone) in your car. It's an album that many may not want to admit owning, but once you mention it in the company of your trusted female friends, you'll find that they all either have it or at least love it.
I seen Jann Arden when I went to a Michael Buble Concert. I have not heard of her but once I knew who she was I had to buy one of her CD's I love this kind of mUsic easy to listen too when you having a hard day at Work.I bought it because she sing lovely..
Moody and soulful. Tends to put what your feeling into words and moves you. I listen to all her CD's all the time. Wonderful melody and beat. I'd probably classify it as Adult Contemp. genre.
I purchased this CD for one song that was in the movie, "Bed of Roses". The music from Jann Arden is very soulful and emotional with a wide range of topics. I will attempt to purchase other items by this artist in the future.

Pros: Good writing, unique voice
Cons: Some people might not like there is no true fast songs
On the merit of one song and the fact I had money to burn, I was combing over the many CD's back in 1993 and decided to pick up Living Under June by a Canadian singer named Jann Arden. Eagerly I went home and popped my new purchase in my CD player and what I discovered was a collection of delicate, well-written songs that had some brilliant lyrics and developed musical ideas. If you are looking to move your feet or for bombastic love songs this album is not for you. But if you are looking for soft, introspective music that stirs the mind and the heart then I definitely give you the green...
If you told me five years ago I would be reviewing an album like Jann Arden's "Living Under June", I would have looked at you with a smirk that slowly faded into an expression of incredulity. "You're ing nuts" would have probably been the first thing I said, as well. Jann Arden's music is something of a cross between Sarah MacLachlan and Bonnie Raitt, and quite frankly, that's a mix of two very talented artists. Over the past five years, my musical tastes have expanded more than the previous 20 years put together. While I am still not drawn to much in the 'country' genre, music like what can..

Slipping In Under the Expectations

Pros: Excellent voice, generally good lyrics<BR/>
Cons: Musically Unimaginative, whiny
"Living Under June" was one of those albums I had on my shelf for a few years and it was only after a year of not listening to it that I popped it back in my c.d. player because I wondered why. When I played it, I suddenly understood why I hadn't listened to it in so long. I felt a bit bad about it, but the truth is, it justifies completely the way I buy musical discs. As a general rule, I won't buy a disc unless I have heard three singles off it that I like a lot. "Living Under June" has a few distinct advantages musically; the writing is good and Jann can sing. She sings well in fact. The.

Pros: Consistent throughout the entire CD. Great Voice, great music, great lyrics!
Cons: None!
You know one of the Advantages of living in the Buffalo, New York area is the great music that we get to hear from Canada! With Toronto only an hour and a half drive from here, Most of the best radio stations are from Canada. A little background will help to understand. For those of you that are not familiar with Canadian broadcasting, they have something called the "content laws". Basically that means that they have to play a certain percentage of music that is either written, produced or played by a Canadian. I believe it also covers things made in Canada such as the X-files and that sort...

Give this underappreciated artist a listen (revised)

Pros: Great songs that grow on you
Cons: Why don't more people know about this artist? Deserves more notice!
I nabbed this album after hearing an interview with Jann Arden, and liking a song which had turned up on a soundtrack (you might remember "Insensitive" from the movie Bed of Roses). Didn't know much about her otherwise. John_malaise may be onto something with the border thing--I live an hour from Canada and some of our best radio stations are in Windsor, Ontario, so it stands to reason we might hear more Canadian artists who get less airplay elsewhere. Our area was HUGE into BareNaked Ladies before they were doing sellouts in other parts of the United States.... But back to Jann Arden. What a.
